Pastor, wife gambled away $430,000 from Houston church

Charles Gilford and his wife

A Houston pastor and his wife are in the Harris County jail charged with bilking their former congregation out of more than $400,000 and using that money for gambling trips to Louisiana.

Charles Gilford, 58, and Adriane Gilford, 53, were indicted Wednesday by a Harris County grand jury and charged with aggregate theft and “misapplication of fiduciary property.”

Prosecutors allege the Gilfords used at least $430,000 in church funds to gamble at the Coushatta Casino near Lake Charles between 2004 and 2007.

I will not join a religion if the Pastor is not working 9-5 like me. No PASTOR is building his extravagant house on me taking 10 percent of my money while I struggle to pay rent. NEVER
They have no pity for their followers.

The pastor and his wife who gambled away $ 430,000.I agree with Francisco Telemaque you can call them thieves and they are fake christian casino thats satan system] .Having a form of Godlyness devotion but proving false to its power.2 Timothy 3;5]World leaders and common people alike often make an outward show of being Godly. They may attend church services and make contributions to religious causes. Those in government may put their hand on a Bible when take office. But often it is simply ‘a form of Godly devotion’ Just as the Bible foretold the true worship of God is not really a force in most people’s lives today.they are not motivated by a real power for good.

Religion is an advertising agency for a product that does not exist.

For centuries people have been using this mumbo jumbo in man-made Bibles, Qurans, Rig Vidas etc to exploit others, especially their gullible congregations. Nothing new.

Throughout the years we have heard of these types of thefts. It does not surprise me. There will be more as time goes on and as others form their own churches. Note how big they build some of them, to lure more people and with their money. These are the times we are living in, the age of the great apostasy and of avarice. The worst is yet to come.
You can say that God is revealing their deceit and wickedness. Let everyone open their eyes, look up, see and take note of it.
I have been approached to renounce my Catholic Faith and by a few whom I know who were once in the Faith but they would not sway me one bit.
One thing I am not is stupid. No way would I renounce my faith to follow those people and join their churches which Our Lord Jesus Christ did not establish and which hurts His Most Sacred Heart to see the lack of love, peace, division and disunity caused by those who are indifferent to my Faith.
If you are blind to all those who left their countries and went to Dominica to open churches, pray to God for enlightenment.
Dominica did not need all those types of churches. There is a passage in Holy Scriptures which refers to that. I will quote it at another time. It should indicate to you how people misinterpret Holy Scriptures to suit them and to amass followers for their personal and monetary benefit. They will pay the price in time.

The person named “concerned” mentioned Malachi 3: 6-12 to explain the reason he or she would not blame the congregation of that church in Houston.

I am using the thoughts of readers here, to help everyone understand that the problem lies in our lack of knowledge of God and His message of Life in the Holy Bible and through our faith in Jesus Christ. For the truth of that message cannot be revealed to us without the wisdom and revelation of Holy Spirit.

For example Malachi 3: 10 says: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house” The question is! What is the tithes that God is asking for to be fill up His House? Was it money itself? I am bold do say that the answer is no! And I will prove it from the message of the Bible, itself, in a little while.

All pastors and preachers should know about that; but they will not preach it to their congregation, because they all do this work of pastoring and preaching just like a regular job–the church pay them a salary of over a hundred thousand dollars a year, depending on its members–some of those members live on government assistance.

However we know that the apostle Paul refused to accept a salary from the churches he preached to because he did not want that concept to defile the work, which was done through him, but by the Power of Holy Spirit. The evidence is written in 1st Corinthians–I have a bit of trouble finding the exact location right now.

In ancients days when God brought His people–the children of Jacob, whom He had renamed Israel–into the “Promised Land”, the promised He made through Abraham and his son Isaac, who was Jacob’s father, God allowed eleven of the Tribes of Israel to inherit land and property, for their survival in Life, but He kept the Tribe of Levi–one of the sons of Jacob–as He priests to do the works in the Temple.

The responsibility of the eleven Tribes of Israel, whon God gave the privilege of land and property, to make a living, was that they were to give a tenth of whatever they produced on their land, to the Temple, for the the support of the priests and their families, who were the Livites. That is what it is means by the term tithe–this has nothing to do with money, itself.

And so up until today, if God calls a person to be a pastor or a preacher to His people, He will see to it that, that that person and his family survives accordinly–but modestly.

God has blessed many people with the gift of generosity, because He uses those people’s gift to do His work of giving to His chosen people, who are in need.

Once again, because how much we have and by our ability of discenment we will know when God has called us to do His work of giving to someone, or a group of people our choice is obedience to His call, the way we give Him delight.

Nonetheless, in this world, if we do not learn to “settle our salvation with fear and trembling”, the ravens who are hungry for money, and nothing else but money, will tell us that we need to pay for our salvation and so, we foolishly give them all the money we have–including an arm and a leg, even an eye and an ear as well. Good heavens!

Here is an example, where I found out in the Bible that tithe is not money itself; I will show it to you, at least this one example but there are many more. Here it is at Leviticus 27: 30!

“All the “tithe” of the “LAND” whether of seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, belong to the Lord, it is holy. And concerning the “tithe” of the herd or the flock or whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.

I notice that this scripture is referring to the production of the land pertaining to plants, trees, cattle, sheep, or goat and others–not money in currency.

That is a truth of the Bible that pastors snd preachers never preach to us, otherwise those two people in Houston would not have the privilege of throwing away $400,000.00, which belonged to their congregation, into their habit of gambling.

WHY ARE RELIGIUOS PEOPLE SO LONG-WINDED?

        June 27, 2012

Dang lisxavier. All that rambling and you made no sense!

      • June 28, 2012

        @Malatete

First of all, may I inform you that as a true Christian, “born again” of Love, which is of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–since 14 years ago, I am not in your confusions and corruptions of that man-made lifestyle know as religion.

I maintain an intimate Love relationship with the Living God Almighty, who is Eternal Spirit of Love, Truth, and Holiness. My relationship happens by my faith in the Son, through God revealed His Love for mankind, He is God’s Person of Love–the name is Jesus Christ.

Through this relationship with God, I worship Him and fellowship with my church family as often as it God calls us to do so.

The rest of that relationship with God happens at any place and at anytime He calls for it–even when I am asleep.

Please get that into the small head with that small brain and mind of yours, which could never understand the things of God, because you do not know Him. But that is the fault of no one else but yours–most certainly not my fault.

      • June 28, 2012

        @Robin

You wrote: “All that rambling and you made no sense” Ask those who gave me thumbs up and you will learn that their opinion of me is not the same as yours–that is enough for me.

Yes, I am familiar with your idea, and I will tell you why. I write about God and His ways of Life, as He would like the world to follow or abide with Him. But the world says the same you –along with your fellow counterparts–said above–God makes no sense to you people of the world.

And so I will tell you what God says about you and your fellow friends–all of you. Read it very carefully below!

“The natural man (meaning people like you) does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him,(them) nor can he (they) know them, because they are Spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by “no one” 1st Corinthians 2: 14

People, like you and your friends, are better off holding their peace. And so, don’t blame me for being able to point out that you are fool in terms of knowledge of God. And even if that is most unfortunate for you. You said it yourself, in the line above. 8-O 8-O 8-O

You always have to come with some special point of view: what knowledge you are talking about?

The fact is they are thieves!

What knowledge of God should a preacher need to know that they should steal, a thief is a thief, is a thief, preacher or no preacher.

Judas was the purser, he held the money bag, and stole from it, Jesus was the only one who knew he was stealing from him, however in the end he still sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver!

He walked with Jesus, yet he was a tool of satan.

In Judas, one who walked with Jesus, would you suggest that he as a disciple of Jesus lacked the knowledge of God, that’s why he stole from Jesus himself?

I told you long ago Church in America is a business, more than 90% of the people who preach here are not called by God to preach they are after money, and what we have here is just an example, yes they convince their congregation of the tenth, and use that part of scripture ” will a man rob God ” to ensure that they collect the tenth, in tidings.

However, when they collect they do not remember the poor, they do not remember the needy, they build mansions, and buy the most expensive cars money can buy, look at their fingers, on there you will find gold and diamond rings, worth millions.

      That is America Elizabeth!

You have no defense, you cannot defend them, for the Bible teaches ” by their fruits you shall know them.”

And all that you wrote about me on the blog last night or this morning, does not even fade me, nothing I read in you essay touched a vein in my body oui!

Have a happy day, ” I doh is home, so doh try an fin me eh, I done, ah fraid you wrath oui!”

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

      • June 28, 2012

        @Francisco Telemaque

You asked: “What knowledge of God should a preacher have to know that they should not steal”?What a foolish question? So I am ignoring it!

But I was not talking about those two people here in the news article so much as, I was talking about those who are being taken for a ride in church or out of church because they depend on others who just like themselves–because of their lack of spiritual wisdom, understanding, and knowledge of God and His Love–the traits of Life in Spirit and in Truth.

And yes! Life exist in Spirit and Truth, otherwise the existence in flesh and blood is still dead–under the sole control of see, hear, feel, smell, and taste, directed by the brain through the process and products of a carnal mind.

You write: “I told you long ago church in America is a business, 90% of the people who preach, they are after money; what we have here is an example”

So why are you opposing to my message? Is it not because you have no reading comprehension, and so you did not understand what I write–just as usual.

If you had understand my message you would notice that I responded to the person identified as “concern” because he or she seemed to accept the idea that people of the church are asked to give “one tenth” of their income according to the Bible, but that a both, a misconception and abuse of the of “God’s Word”.

Read my message carefully again, and you will learn what is the tenth that the Bible speaks about–this has nothing to do with money, itself.

That is what I explained because I am quite sure, by that people do not read and study God’s Word for themselves. So they do not know His commands and ways of Life in the Spirit.

You and your friends here just do not know God and His ways of Life in Love! You are walking according to the flesh controlled by that mind of yours which only process and produces the things of death.

And so the money lovers are taking you and everybody else for a ride—in the Church ind the gambling casinos, and other places; you know what I am talking about–because they know that among yourself, nobody will notice their wicked schemes, unless a somebody with the ability of discernment comes along to give you all freedom from the wolves in sheep’s clothing and the mouth of the hungry Vultures.

And so go ahead and laugh it out, but the “joke” is on you and your counterparts you don’t even know it.

By the way why are you mentioning my response to your email box here, if I did not affect your mind?

“You doh fraid my wrath” So why are you hiding behind a public crowd to say that to me? Huh! 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O

  7. June 26, 2012

This is “post number three” in response to the news article above:

I continue with the thought of “Waitukubuli–original”; that other thought of him or her is that: “Children of God ought to have spiritual discernment” That is very, very true!

Once again, I am saying that God is Spirit! If we claim to be Christians, we cannot mixed fleshly emotions with our relationship with God–whatever those emotions are; the are still of the flesh. Apostle Paul advised us to walk in Love, walk as children of Light–they both mean that we walk in the Spirit by “faith and not by sight or feelings”

Spiritual discernment in us, is one of those many gifts of God to us, that we might know from which path that certain command of our mind came through.

Our mind is the spiritual battle ground, when we become a Christian; for at that time we are being fed by Spirit and spirit. The war is between God and Satan; “God wants our thoughts on Him; Satan wants them elsewhere”

Our gift of discernment is the ability of Holy Spirit, from conscience, where He connects to us. He tells us when the command is from God or when it is from Satan. By faith He gives us the wisdom of words to speak Satan away from our lives. That is why the “Word of God” is better known as the “Sword of the Spirit” Those words are the words of faith, and faith is the weapon through which we have victory in Love.

We cannot be Christians if we simply wait on someone else to tell us what we should know about God. Those people may not have that information for themselves, what they have can be the twisted concept of God and Life in Love–what is known as corruption and confusion.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, Hosey and others, God made a New Covenant with His chosen people, that Covenant would be instilled in us by our faith and the Power of Holy Spirit. By His authority, from conscience, God would teaches us to know Him and His ways of Love, as we demonstrate the attitude and conducts of Life which exemplifies His nature of Love that is in us.

Through that Covenant God said: “I will put My laws in their mind and I will write it on their hearts. Jeremiah 31: 1-34. Jesus was the recipient of that New Covenant on our behalf, because of His completed mission in this world.

As I alread said that Covenant would happen by the power of Holy Spirit in us–Jesus sent Holy Spirit in this world 50 days after His ascension into Heaven that event took place on the “Day of Pentecost” And so, it is by the Power of Holy Spirit that Jesus continues to build His church up to today–and as long as younger generations will enter this world.

A people who claim to gather in the name of God, but without Holy Spirit as the head of that group, is not a Church–it is a social club, proclaiming to be under the management of “good standards” but good standards do not have to God’s standard–read the book of Job from chapter to chapter, and you will understand what I am saying.

    • Justice and Truth
      June 27, 2012

Although what you stated is good advice, nevertheless, you know that human beings are weak of spirit. They allow the money to go to their head and heart. They fell for the trickery of Satan. I can only hope that you are a perfect person in every respect. God knows that no one is perfect.

      • June 28, 2012

        @Justice and Truth

No human being is perfect in this world. It would be foolish for me to think about myself as perfect, nonetheless I have the ability of “discernment”.

I am able to know where the command that enters my mind comes from, so that I will know what to do with it.

By the wisdom of Holy Spirit and the through my words of faith, I know how to speak Satan out of my relation with God, and the people around me–even those who are far away from me.

If you know anything about Jesus Christ, you would not be suggesting perfection in me, because Satan tempted Jesus 3 times, even if he knew who Jesus was, much more so for me. But don’t worry about me; I am accountable to God for my Life.

That is what I am trying to help others to realize about themselves–all of those who are out there depending on what their priests, preacher, and pastor says to them. I hope you can understand me as well

      • June 28, 2012

        @I DIE NUH

They give thumbs down because that is the mischief of Satan through them–and in times like today, they know it.

But Jesus has already forgiven them once–even up to now they still have the privilege of His forgiveness, but they continue to side with Satan–even if they know he is God’s enemy.

However, the Word of God at the Book of Revelation tells us that the time of the “Great Tribulation” is coming, when Satan’s children and their friends will call on the mountains to fall of them, because they will prefer to die than to endure God’s wrath–that is how weak and a coward Satan is.

But no death will come for them, for God wants them do know the severity of the wrath of His Holiness–not His Love–of which they all are laughing about today.

As it written so it will be done!

  9. June 26, 2012

This is post “number two” based on the news article in question.

The person identified as Waitukubuli-original suggested that persons who claim to be a pastor, could simply have given themselves another name; I spiced up the idea a bit, but I do agree with him or her thoughts.

The apostle Pual alerted us that we do need the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as he spoke about the people of Israel of his days.

At Romans Chapter ten, one of the things Paul noted was that the “Israelites had the zeal for God, but not because they had knowledge of God”.

May I quote Jesus’ own words as prayed on behalf of His disciples: So Jesus prayed: “And this is Eternal Life, that they may know You, the One True God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent” John 17: 3

So Jesus has confirmed Paul’s idea that knowledge of God and Jesus Christ is evedence that a person has “Etenal Life”

Unfortunately the lack of “knowledge of God” which only happens by faith through the teachings of Holy Spirit is the “basic weakness” of the mass number of us, who claim to be Christians of today.

We do have the zeal for God, just the Israelites did, but we do not know Him by our faith. The reason for that is because we are too busy applying the rules and regulations of religion, not the ways of Love, which is from a God of Spirit, Truth, and Holiness. God wants nothing to do with the flesh and its passions–which is under the control of our human senses through the process and products of our carnal mind.

The apostle Paul continues to tell us that because of the lack of knowledge of God, the Israelites rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is what we have done as Christians, as we ignorantly allow Satan to plague our minds with the rules, regulations, and doctrines of religion, which are of the wisdom and philosopy of man from east, west, north, and south.

And so, as Christians without the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we remain the lost sheep, because we went our own way, not being able to find our Shepherd to guide us back to our gathered flock.

The wolves in sheep’s clothing–just like those two people of Houston, comes along and begin to prey on our state of lost, leading us into the very depths of darkness–the death pit of hell

Paul says about us who refuse to apply faith, which is the Key to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by which we acquire knowledge of God and His ways of Love–Life in us:

“How shall they call on Him, whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him, of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent”? Romans 10: 1-21

People, can you not see that effect of those who claim to be pastors and preachers of God’s Word, but without God’s calling, according to the message of apostle Paul above?

Can we blame God’s message in the Bible, and true Christians, for this mischief of Satan in our lives? I will continue with this message in “post number three”.

  10. June 26, 2012

First of all to those who are complaining about my long writing, all you need to do is by-pass when you see my identity–I have no gain, and most definitely no loss; if you do not read.

The example of this couple in the news article is one of the reasons those who claim to be Christians need to read and study the Word of God on their, that they might come to know what is God’s good, and acceptable, and perfect will for the Life as a Christians in this world.

To begin with “Christianity” is not a religion as unless people call themselves Christians can come to terms with that Truth, they are still like every one else claim to believe in God but that it is–a belief. Except that everybody believe, for there all sorts of beliefs, especially if people are entangled in the concept of “religion”

I will continue my message in another post, for the sake of those who cannot read more than a few lines, without going out of focus.

God has chosen me to do His work preaching the Gospel to those who have not yet received it. For disciples of Jesus has to be those who have received His Gospel–not people who use the church house as a social club.

But right now I live in Toronto Canada; I know that this general work from God, will be done in Dominica–just about a few more years to come.

What God is doing with me right now is that He is preparing me for His work, with my people and my country. I am working steadfastly with Him.

Yes, I do have a lot of testimonies about Life in the Spirit–I have piled some of them in a Book of 275 pages–writing is one of the gifts of Holy Spirit in me–that is why I sometimes get carried away. I’ve been saying that we do not need religion since we were divine when we came out of our mother’s womb. Religion was given to us by our parents who did not know any better. The creator did not give us any religion but rather all these different religions are man-made.
Our ancient Egyptian ancestors were in tune with the universe and nature and gave reverence to the Creation through creation and not through religion. We have been brainwashed, through Christianity, which is a European religion that was used to enslave our forefathers so that they would forget their culture, their way of worship, their language their names, etc., and would adopt a white God, Jesus Christ, who was made up by the Romans during the Council of Nicea, in 332 A.D.
Christianity has not delivered us as a people and will not and cannot deliver us. Instead we are more divided by religion.
We have to know who we are first as human beings, understand our purpose, our great ancestral history and know the Creator for ourselves and not through any other human being. Who says that the Creator needs money if we say that he is a Spirit?
We can’t afford to be lied to any longer because these religions are about division and money. We have been the greatest people through history but when we don’t know our history we can fall for anything. We must be delivered from mental slavery. That’s where we have been captivated in our minds by the Europeans, through religion.

Jesus never was a white man with blue eyes, genetically impossible (…he was a semite, a jew and his hebrew name was Joshua). But of course, it is sooooo convenient to blame all our woes on another race. I so fed up with that nonsense,as if we own the copyright on suffering. That’s so negative. Man, when are we going to do something for ourselves that’s constructive?

@Malgraysa,south are correct with there comment and a not brainwash. people need to do some research about religion.but just belive things u can’t prove like jesus, noah, moses, abraham.none of this people never lived, only in a book not in history.

Imhotep, you are so right that research is important and that is why the denial of the existence of Jesus, as a historical figure is like saying that the holocaust never happened. You only need to read the Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus to realise that. Haile Salassie, the Lion of Juda, King of kings was a coptic christian, like the majority of our Ethiopian brothers, a church orignally establsihed by st. Mark in Alexandria, Egypt during the first century AD and still very much alive today. The establishment of this christian church precedes the conversion of northern Europe to christianity, during the eighth century by along way. The likes of St. Boniface (murdered for his efforts in the year 754) and St. Wilibrord are testament to the efforts by the christian church to convert the tribes of N. Europe, away from their pagan worship and idolatry, which is still reflected in the names of the days of the week we use to the presen: Sunday (worshipping the sun, the supreme power, as it was in the Egypt of the pharaos), Monday (in reverence of the moon), Tuesday (named after the Norse/German god Tiw or Tyr), Wednesday (after the Norse Wotan), Thursday (the Norse supreme Donar, and the root of our word thunder), Friday (the Norse/German goddess Freja of love and beauty) and Saturday (to venerate Saturn). it is this history that tells us that chritianity was not a European invention but has its roots in Africa. Peace be upon you.

YOU are so right with some of your points!! Specifically, where you say, “I’ve been saying that we do not need religion since we were divine when we came out of our mother’s womb.” Religion delays the self-realization process; why should someone, who is EQUAL in God’s eyes’, sit and listen to another scold, and bore them w/ their religious rhetoric? WE are all prophets, and should engage in conversations about God; not sit and listen to another! God gave ALL OF US the same gift; HIS LOVE!! Religion is nothing but a business model, and lost souls use it to enrich their lives materialistically, while other souls sit and listen to their perverseness! Furthermore, religious people need to evaluate the people that they are listening to, and learn to find God as individuals! Finally, things get so much clearer when God becomes the only teacher, and YOU END SAVING MONEY by not visiting some fancy temple!

      @ out of south city

You are another one who rejected God and for what. You were divine when you were born? Please do not make me laugh, you fool. Who taught this to you, Satan, the enemy of God and of our souls? You must be the only one who is divine, placing yourself above God. This is blasphemy! In your ignorance you do not know it. Well, I am informing you that you are wrong and to believe such a thing.
Only God is divine. Babies are born innocent – not divine.
Be careful of what you say and preach for it will return to haunt you and forever.
If you do not need religion, prepare yourself for Satan’s cauldron of everlasting fire – Hell. This is where the enemies of God go where they will burn and burn forever as they regret they did not conform themselves to the Will of God and worship Him. Every day will be a new day of suffering including Satan’s taunting for your faithfulness to God. Would you like this for yourself?

Your points are baseless @ Justice and truth! I want to tackle your every point, but every sentence you’ve written is simply banal! I don’t believe in Satan; in life you have to choose what you will believe in, and I’ve chosen to follow God! Your sentence, “Babies are born innocent- not divine,” is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard! Of course, we are divine beings; we are all images of God,,so that makes us divine!! Finally, please stop referencing ‘Satan!’ I’ve noticed ppl who do that tend to speak a lot of nonsense(the same nonsense you’ve posted), because God should always be the reference!

Anyone can call himself/herself pastor – it is just a name. That is why the Lord Jesus Christ said to watch out for wolves in sheep’s clothing. Children of God ought to have spiritual discernment and don’t believe everyone who comes in the name of the Lord.

In every area of life, church or not, there is a wolf – exercise wisdom all.

I don’t know what I have done to “justice and truth” this person tries to hammer me every time I post something. I know you are a poto katolik and you do everything to defend your “religion” – I don’t do religion- I follow CHRIST. He never established religion on earth- He came to advance the Kingdom of God.

May the love of God, the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. May He shine His face upon you and give you peace, my dear.

I cannot blame the congregation, they by obedience are only acting on the word of God in the book of Malachi 3:verses 6 to 12 and also giving an offering

It is left to those sticky hands pastors to do what is right, remember many are called but few are chosen and is not all who says Lord Lord will enter into the kingdon of heaven, woe unto those who put a stumblimg block to others who truly want to serve God Almight Their day will come

Who? Ever say these people are called too preach the word of GOD,some people just want an easy way out to live, are lavish life style and the poor congregation pay for it, if we could see our selves the way GOD see us we would HATE our own selves, what makes it so sad members of the congregation defend and support them, while they can’t even afford to pay their bills.

      @ virgo

Note through the years the amount of churches that have been formed. It appears to be a big joke. These are people who want to be rich as they deceive others to follow them. They only want their money. The gullible follow them.
Our Lord said many will come in My Name. In time God will give them their just recompense as they deceive.

I blame the congregation. These people work hard, sometimes can barely make ends meet, but keep buying into this PAY FOR SALVATION PYRAMID PONSI SCHEME. They will deny their kids stuff while they empty their wallets to support another mans’ lifestyle on the promise of heaven!

These are they who give ‘religion’ a bad name, as they say religion will not save people, interpreting Holy Scripture to suit their mentality. Their day is coming. In fact, it has come.
