On Tuesday 8th December 2015, under the Patronage of the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, The Honorable Prime Minister of Dominica Mr Roosevelt Skerrit, in conjunction with Savory & Partners and Royal Dominica Hotel, addressed a private audience of prominent Middle East CEOs at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray hotel, Palm Jumeriah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Mr Skerrit addressed a private, by-invitation-only dinner attended by more than 60 VIP businesspersons regarding the investment opportunities available in Dominica through the Citizenship by Investment program.

Also present was His Excellency, Dr Vince Henderson, the Permanent Representative and Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the United Nations and His Excellency Ambassador Mr Emanuel Nanthan, Director of the Citizenship By Investment Unit (CBIU).

Co-sponsoring the event, Savory & Partners, an established British family business experienced in Citizenship by Investment programs invited with them applicants, naturalised citizens and other interested parties to engage, learn and open dialogue on a variety of topics.

Also present at the invitation-only dinner event was the CEO of Royal Dominica, Mr John Zuliani, who addressed the audience on the importance of developing reciprocal business relationships between Dominica citizens in the Middle East and around the globe.

Recently waived from the Schengen visa application process, the Dominica passport now enables visa-free travel to 127 countries, thereby gaining significant strength in passport rankings. By consequence high net worth immigrant investors looking to obtain a second citizenship have been attracted by the popular yet robust Citizenship By Investment program in Dominica managed by the highly experienced Director of the CBIU, Mr Nanthan.

With demand for such dual citizenship programs on the rise, the Government of Dominica announced in the 2015 budget that the investment requirements would increase.
The Dominica Citizenship By Investment Program has been in effect since 1993, making it one of the oldest and most established programs for citizenship by investment in the world.

Dubai, in the middle east, is not a good place to advertise the merits of Dominican citizenship.

Really a bad idea Mr. Knight of of the Order of St George Skerritt because as soon as our ISIS friends work out that good ole DCA citizenship is a backdoor to the continued invasion of Euope and the world they will be over to our island in boatloads!

Remember that Dominica is signatory to the UN Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees (https://treaties.un.org/pages/ViewDetails.aspx?src=TREATY&mtdsg_no=V-5&chapter=5&lang=en ) which means that they come here, saka fete, we have to take them in :)

Mr. Skerritt, they won’t pay a dime! The Syrian ones will just go to Waddy directly and get their passports. Is Dominica ready for that? I guess we all are, may God protect us!

Selling citizenship is all about generating fees for the brokers and middlemen (some of whom are pictured above). The Cabrits hotel will never be built because the cost vs. benefit analysis does not add up. A sales pitch does not change the law of supply and demand. The cold hard truth is that the demand by tourists for such a hotel does not at presently exist, and no bank or investor group is going to take a multimillion $US gamble on such a speculative venture. There is, however, a demand by wealthy persons for a means to avoid visa restrictions when they travel. Dominica has offered a citizenship for cash product for over 20 years. We should not be proud of this practice because it does not create jobs or involve the productive ingenuity of Dominicans, but if we can get some “money for nothing” why not? My question is – why is the elaborate story about hotel development necessary? Be honest with us and we will back the program. “Let your yes be yes and no, no.”

It would be good to know the true success rate of these overseas meetings. Example: meeting X had 10 items on the agenda. out of the 10 items DA was able to secure/accomplish 10%, 50% or 0%. One needs to be able to measure whether or not their actions are successful or whether or not their actions need to be tweaked in order to increase future success rates. It might just be me, but outside of the promises made by the Chinese in 2004. It is hard to gage the success rate of the overseas trips.

You all should stop politiking and ask DNO why they as a news outlet must be so biased and nefarious in reporting. Your headline said prime minister addresses citizens in Dubai. Please do not attempt to fool people. Specify that you are refering to citizens of the UAE. I fully expect a denial here but your headline is misleading. Stop It

ADMIN: It’s a press release published as it was sent to us.

Good for you Admin. Mr. Skerrit was indeed addressing potential customers for his Citizenship by Investment programme. Since bona fide Dominican citizens do not need to purchase their citizenship there was no need to address them.

Our dear and precious Supreme Leader, the ordained Knight of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, the right and honourable Dr. Roosevelt M. Skerrit has been selling passports for years and years, yet it seems like the ordinary Dominicans has not benefited a single dime from these passport sales and “investments”. On the other hand, it appears that the passport selling venture is quite lucrative as we see a select few in the Government’s company doing quite well as a result of being involved with selling Dominica’s passports. Yet, it surely does not seem to concern most of our Citizens as they see absolutely nothing wrong with this obvious disparity. The rich will get richer while the poor get poorer. It’s simply the Dominica that we voted for and are content to live in. Aren’t we a sad lot?

If Skerritt had keep his A in Dominica not doing anything all would still have something to say. All like Florida Diaspora, Mavis, Cameron saying that Skerritt enjoying high life?

You see, I already watch all of you ungrateful Dominicans who just spew negativity everyday against Skerritt but you know the best part of it, he continues to work and not murmur, he continues to move forward. No weapon formed against him shall prosper because all of you are SATAN. GOD is stronger, GOD is GREATER than any other.

I’m so confused! Now, when you, as a “pm,” represent a country – Do you put that country on the world map? or do you use that country to put yourself on the world map? The only part of Dominica that’s being elevated is that scare-it part. Enjoy it bro. whiles it last.

One thing left out in all these partying is the people of Dominica. Skeritt, Nanthan, and the rest will pay dearly. Go ahead and sell prime Dominican real estate to foreigners and think that will go well especially when civil servants and dominicans that busting their a…. cannot buy properties nor build a decent home. Look PVC houses that people now getting from Venezuela. Every rope have an end. That rope getting shorter. What is the capacity of the hotels that are already operating. If business was good why is it the local or regional banks not investing in new hotel construction? This would increase local direct investment and all civil servants would benifit cause the local banks are profitable. There are signs of a failing economy and society and Dominica is displaying every bit. The judgement of men will fail when their interest is put above that of those they are elected to serve. Country now on remote control.

Dr Vince Henderson? Do we the tax paying citizens of the Commonwealth of Dominica who are responsible for paying his salary have a right to know when and where he gained his PhD? The last I remember, when we voted for him in St Joseph he did not hold such honours!?

Shouldn’t that man be representing our interest at the U.N. rather than act as a salesman for Nanthan & Skerrits money making scheme? I think it is time for the U.N. to revoke his privileges for misrepresentation.

The creator will not free Dominica because like all the Hebrews that brother Moses lead out of Egypt, we turned our face against the creator. So we are reaping the curses, our punishment and not until we turn our face back to the creator will we enjoy the covenant our ancestors accepted.
For you church going fakes, read the book of Deuteronomy and learn who you really are (from the tribe of Juda) and stop following your fake religions. You were created to be above all nations, the head.

Now for all you so called Christians who will give a negative response, before you do, read Chapter 28 especially verse 68 the word of the creator.

The same bible that was used to enslave our ancestors and still control the minds of those who don’t know who they are? Every religion is man-made and has its own god too. Our ancestors were not religious. They believed in African spiritual systems, from which all the other religions copied. They did not leave us bibles but the early writings which are called hieroglyphics, and are written in stone in the pyramids in Egypt.
We must not just accept what has been laid down. We must question what we believe and ask ourselves why do we believe what we believe.

Here we go again. Just when I thought that he had travelled to Dubai to get some oil tycoons to come to Dominica and overhaul the entire country it seems like this was nothing more than an advert for how brilliant his Dominican passport sales economy is. Calling it “citizenship by investment” is just an excuse. Dominica so dead that not even them Arabs would come down here and try to jock start this fading economy. One or two people might come might come Dominica and spend a few dollars, get their passports, and be on their way. No major in investments will be made. So much passports Skeritt sell already and what do we have on the ground to show for it? Nothing!!!! This so called high level business trip was just a move to put Dominican passports on the market as a transit point accessory that can be easily hassle free. Trust me a multi-millionaire would rather take his $$$ to Trinidad, Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia as it would be much easier for them to start something there

The tycoons will come alright. But they will all be ISIS guys, with laundered oil money and guess what, they will take what they want and give nothing back. Well done Skerro!
