PM Skerrit calls for dutiful service regardless of political views

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, has called for public officers to operate respectfully and dutifully, in spite of their political persuasion.

Speaking at the launching of Public Service Day 2016, at the Fort Young Hotel, on Wednesday, he noted that several citizens allow their political views to affect their attitudes toward others.

“You have the right to support the party in government or the party in Opposition; but, that should never be a consideration in your attitude to work, or your attitude towards the citizens of this country…” he said. “I find too many people in this country allow their political persuasion to be the deciding factor as to how they deliver services to the public.”

Skerrit stated that the public sector is vital for “implementation and achievement of government’s plans and programs,” and asked that public servants be mindful of their responsibilities.

“Each one of us must take ownership of our responsibilities and duties… If you’re being paid to do a task—whether you agree with the remuneration or not, at that particular juncture—we have to take responsibility for our duties,” he explained.

The Prime Minister remarked that persons who fail to fulfil their obligations, undermine their responsibilities as Christians and law-abiding citizens.

“You are delivering this service, but one day, you will be receiving the service; and what you sow is what you shall reap,” he commented. “So, never believe that you are undermining the government when you do not fulfil your responsibilities. You’re undermining your responsibility as a Christian, and you’re underminding your responsibility according to the laws of the land.”

Public Service Day is geared at encouraging camaraderie among public officers, and to recognize their contribution, and excellence in performance, with a view to ultimately improve administration of the public service.

Skerrit enjoys playing games with Dominicans, especially public officers aided and abetted by the Public Service Commission and police service commission. The PSU and PWA are inundated with cases of unfair treatment, victimization, arbitrary transfer, denial of appointment and promotions of officers, targeted because their perceived linings. Three officers were unceremoniously removed from the Disaster Office on instructions because it was alleged that they are not singing the tunes of the PM and the Minister pure gossip. Nothing based on performance.in fact the PM and minister publicly praised the guys for carrying out the task beyond the call of duty especially during TS Erika yet they were kicked out. Pastor Rodney, Biliary daughter, and many others across the service experience the denial of opportunities due to their perceived linings. Court cases filed against such arbitrariness have been upheld and there are many more pending. But the PM there BSing.

The verdict in favour of officer Bertrand is testimony of the games being played. The sad thing is people who stood against such atrocities are now aiding and abetting this cabal. During the 70s,80s,90s and up to 2015 some those persons were vehemently against any form of corruption. But now are party to the worst form of governance in this country………………………die hard Freedomites who embraced the good governance of Eugenia are now giving legitimacy and credence to this filthy cabal………….. But history shall not be kind to these folks and it is time to call them out for who they really are, down right opportunist.

I have never seen Dominicans especially UWP so obsessed with politics even after elections. This is a direct result of their Political leader always having a divisive tone in his speeches.

“The Prime Minister remarked that persons who fail to fulfil their obligations, undermine their responsibilities as Christians and law-abiding citizens.” Are you serious? Have you provided Mr. Francis Joseph with any support to help combat the damage that’s being done to our our children by these bold-face “Rapist” who abuse them and walk the streets free of any wrong doing? Do you even have forensics in place to help police officers conduct proper investigations and secure convictions? When is the last time that your inept Director of Public Prosecutions Office, secured a conviction against a cold blooded-murderer? I have remarked time and time again, that this iteration of the Dominica Labor Party is utilizing the entire play book from Joseph Goebbels the Reich Minister of Propaganda during Hitler’s Nazi regime. It is as clear as day. The gullible ones will continue to be brained-washed as usual.

This is the same Skerrit who invited his esteemed Baroness to Dominica after Erika and her advice to Dominicans who differed with her “king” was to: “Sousay Sel.” Today he’s singing a different tune. I give them credit for well written articles that continue to fool the masses.

  11. Here is the Supreme Leader, Dominica’s reigning Red King, ordained, sanctified and Knighted by the Roman Catholic Church, the one who is NOT a doctor being called DOCTOR by the most ignorant and uneducated, the “don’t pray to God come to ME” leader of the Red Clinic, the great Socialist Dictator wanna-be, the almighty Passport Merchant, the Christ-like rags to riches Saviour to the lost tribe of Labourites, uttering words that clearly contradicts his own actions! Is the Prime Minister even conscious of the things he says or is given to say? I mean here is a man who single-handedly Governs a DEMOCRATIC Country with complete bias and partisan leanings, penalizing and marginalizing Citizens according to their political persuasions telling Public Servants that they must serve (HIM) with absolute loyalty despite their political views. The Supreme Leader is either “losing it” or simply just does not give a #$%^ about how hypocritical these utterances are!

I agree with the Prime Minister. But he needs to speak to the Public and Police Service Commissions about victimizing people who are willing , qualified and are willing to work outside the normal call of duty to get the job done. When the victimization takes place it only leaves lazy, unproductive people moving up, they are not qualified and then those who can work become demotivated. But congratulations to the Public Service.

A few days ago I said; I may not write any more comments on DNO due to the shallow, and unintellectual foolish comments many none-scholastically educated people write; I believe the foolishness they write stigmatize those of us with commonsense , and has some form of educational learning. Here is an example of how ignorant is even, Roosevelt Skerrit!

“persons who fail to fulfil their obligations, undermine their responsibilities as Christians and law-abiding citizens”(Roosevelt Skerrit). How do we define the term Christianity? Everybody in Dominica are not Christians!

A Christian is one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ, after accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior! Simply because someone is involved in religion does not make them a Christian. When I was a kid my parent took me to the Roman Catholic Church, and put me through two rituals; one they called first communion: and the other they say was confirmation; and told me I am a Christian…

      Continuation:

When I was a kid my parent took me to the Roman Catholic Church, and put me through two rituals; one they called first communion: and the other they say was confirmation; and told me I am a Christian. Baloney; I had to decide for myself to become a believer in Jesus Christ; hence, I became a Christian when I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and my Savior.

Jesus said no one cometh to the father but by me; (meaning him) you have to go through him, by accepting him, for he said he is the way the truth and the life. This crap which the Roman Catholic taught Skerrit as they taught my parents that “everybody are Christians, that is a lie; because one go to listen to a some so called priest mumble in Latin does not make anyone a Christian. Some of those people in the civil service does not believe in God anyway; I am not judging anyone, but based on some comments here; those who know better knows that I have spoken the truth!

How often do you suspend your salary, in order for one or two struggling poor civil servants get paid to put food on their table? While you fail to pay the civil servants, you expect them to be happy in the name of God, working for free, while you and your corrupt ministers live off the fat of the hog!

Man shut up; God is not on you side, you are driven by satan; using the word Christianity will not help you on the day you self destruct!

Last week I comment on the death of a man; some people claimed I am cold and has no sympathy: if they were Christians they would have known what thus saith the Lord in his words regarding death, anyone, and the birth of a child. Skerrit is only using this crap about responsibilities as Christians, as another of his wicked cheap political ploys. Is Skerrit a Christian?

I say absolutely not, because a Christian should be an example to others; as the Bible teaches, let you light shine before men. Here is a man who spends millions of dollars buying votes, to remain in power, and in the process victimizing the poor, talking about Christianity! How hypocritical are you Skerrit?

The verdict in Officer Bertrand case is a clear example of how government plays games with public officers. People who once criticized and stood against such atrocities especially during the 70’s 80’s, 90’s up to as recent as 2005 are now part and parcel of this regime condoning and facilitating the very same things they stood against. Example Charles Saverin, Parry Bellot, Rupert Sohraindo, Vanoustl Johncharles, Martin Charles, Sonia Williams, Dermott Southwell and recently Cecil Shillingford all die hard freedomites in the day, stood steadfastly against corruption and victimization are now seen giving support and credence to this corrupt government. Up to recently Shillingford could be seen and heard with the opposition now he is Blackmores most favourite advisor. These are people history will not be kind to and will not spare. Writing and reading another speech with some corrections would maybe help people understand what you’re saying.

If you were an exemplary leader you would have led by example!!!

Ever since your rise in politics you have proven yourself to be shamelessly partisan! After your bogus olive leaf offering?
You should really be the last person to speak on dat issue! You not mature enuff to be or even act non-partisan!

So many empty promises from u.
You instruct and force people to act against de best interest of the state, themselves and their families!
You want me to shine on u.

It appears to me dat u must be speaking to yourself!
    You in too deep!
When you fall you will NOT get up!

Are you a parrot, repeating yourself?
You are a practicing Christian. You should conduct yourself better on this Website and project and teach by a good example.
Generally, people especially the youths learn from what they observe, hear and read. Your words could contribute to a bad example for others. God is taking note. Christians will be held to a higher esteem.

When you make such a comment, you must prove it and that you witnessed it. Otherwise it is judging without proof. You know, you will be punished for tarnishing the good name of others and “judge not that you may not be judged accordingly and two-fold.”
Since you repeat what you may have heard and did not witness it, you will be judged by your words which will condemn you. You also place yourself in a position for a libel suit and those who make a similar comment. Be careful of your words and stones that you throw.

        1. The Bin Bobol, meaning stolen money originated form PM`s office. they called Hon Linton a liar, they got caught with the their pants down and said it was a mistake…..promised to pay back in two weeks, took them almost a year. A mistake…or thievery of public funds…..what would you say?
2.The Fertilizer bobol. In the civil service where I work, there are procedures for purchasing government stuff, so why is it a minister`s brother was involved in the purchase. A clear conflict of interest against government’s procedures.
        3. The Red Clinic, an abuse of power and taking advantage of poor and vulnerable mothers, families and children. That is abuse of power and satanic. Where were you, why was your mouth and remains shut to this day?
There are lots more and every time I read your nonsense it is only Skerrits poor governance, weak government, corrupt government I think of and the many people who have suffered under…

Skerrit suferring from bi-polar disorder. Why then promote policemen who don’t know thier butt from thier face when they all in red campaigning (against the rules) and stiffle those eho speak against the wrong doing? Why do you hate lennox Linton and UWP members so much you call them traitors and ask your followers to harras them? The only obligation public servants have is to the rules and legislation that governs thier task. In other words a PS or any civil servant can refuse an order from any government official if they are asked by government to do stuff not mandated by law or against the law. Example the police cannot search a man house on the order of the PM unless he has a warrant issued by the courts. Note, even civil servants can break the laws in execution of duties. Civil servants obligation is to serve the public however in situations like the red clinic civil servants are not obligated to take part since this is a party fraud and not mandated by parliament. There are…

countless examples. Skerrit thinks he can come with his stupid speech and once he invoke christianity and God in there that makes it gospel. I will repeat, civil servants obligation is the law or constitution nothing else. The NEP is overnight politics, tablets is overnight politics. You skirt the welfare department set up by parliament, you disrespect our constitution, and now talking about obligation. Skerrit nothing you say at this point is credible because your public utterance, your deeds, your aspirations, and 16 years of BS leaves little to be desired.

It’s always the people who need to be lectured on how to behave, and politicians love taking on spiritual guru’ roles, yet they fail miserably in delivering resources to alleviate poverty and the frustration that accompanies it. Biblical references will NEVER cure the problems of society, but understanding God and his Son, Jesus and their plans can impel us to do better. Jesus taught us to be practical and compassionate in everything, because being governed by laws, like the Government imposes, sometimes causes more harm than good.
