POEM: Don’t you hear my cry?

Dominica and Dominicans are in crises
It’s not all about politics but also human injustice

“Don’t you hear my cry ?”

For nine months I was the center of your world
You carried me within you and me you long to one day hold
When you went into labour you were so excited
‘Cause a precious baby is what you expected
I was born with my ten finger ten toes perfect body cute nose
But happiness wasn’t on your face but woes
Why did you abandon me
Didn’t you like, didn’t you love me
I never ask to be born
But here I am your child your son
You subject me to pure misery inhumanity and pain
At nights I cried and wondered why I wasn’t wanted by you again
They treated me like something wild something savage
So they locked me up and put me in a cage
Mother, father, granny, neighbour please tell me why
You saw me suffering but turn a blind eye
Didn’t you listen didn’t you hear my cry
I never ask to be born but here I am your child your son
But you turned your back, and you  were gone

    The DOVE

    by: Philbert George

Long ago when I was just a child
    I often marveled at her
That withered body so meek and mild
And a radiance like no other

And as sunlight shone upon her face
    Her grace she would unfold
And time seemed never to slow her pace
For she loved the young and old

Oh, for countless times I was afraid
    She would not be around
But nonetheless she seemed so brave
I did not know the peace she’d found

The nights and days she sat me down
That purpose I could not see
And even if I know she’s gone
I appreciate what she instilled in me

And how happy it would make me feel
    To see her face today
But this I know for sure is real
She’s in my heart, even if she’s gone away

So Granny, I am sending my love
    To you in pastures yonder
For your battle is surely won, my DOVE
Peace be with you, my Dear Grandmother

    The Other Side of Sanity

    by: Philbert George

    Thought I had seen him
    Streaking through the dim-lit alleyways
    Of my subconscious
    Him, with his bedazzled pretense
    Sprinting forward- smiling deceit

    Thought I had seen him
    Offering twisted, unrealistic charm
    To many an unsuspecting intellect
Him, who penetrates a perfect psyche

    Thought I had seen him
    Injecting poisonous saps
Into the back of a well-rounded being
    Too late- the fallen

And him, whilst imparting dreaded theories,
Leaves in his trail a twisted, confused state
Him, who whilst in his miserable glory,
Is nothing but the other side of sanity- HIMSELF!

well done janiah, this poem is needed, lets hope people out there treat there kids equally. If as a mother u are unable to keep a disabled child then give the child up, give this child a chance to be loved.Gone are the days Dominicans watch each others children, i thought it took a village to raise a child, in my time it was, how my heart ache for curtly Roberts, i got a DA friend living in the USA her child is up at 3 in the morning and ready to start her day child cant speak has Autism and ADHD, YET THE CHILD IS CLEAN AND WELL FEED AND GOES TO SPECIAL SCHOOL. Wake UP GUYS Help each other it takes a Village to raise a child.

Alas, boy allu will make me cry there unno…all now my 1yr old tapping my shoulder “daddy, daddy, see that!” SMH… When did we becoMe so unfeeling and apathetic to each other. Don’t we care what happens in each others lives, after all what happens to me today could well happen to you tomorrow, its all a cycle guys, and we take it in turns… Show some love for each other today. Protect and share, care and empower each other. Admin, if u keep this up we should well nominate you for a nobel prize… Please stay untop of the HUMAN issues. If we continue to be unfeeling for each other, we have a lot more corruption, robbery and violation of basic human rights to witness. I am my brothers keeper, are you???

Yes, you don’t know me, but u judge, have u heard me crying for my 2 children when PWC doesn’t pay and they need their things?? NO! Because nobody identifies with me and what I going through… Therein lies the problem… Today its me being treated like a slave, tomorrow is somebody else.. Stop judging me…when I come and lay my life out on DNO for people like u to use it against me to give me mapwi..when really u should be taking up the cause to stop all forms of injustice, big and small.

Well put my friend yes if we dont show kindness of fleeings when others cry out how can we call ourselves Christians DOMINICANS wake up take the blinders off and as the writer stated it’s not all politic it have to do with each one of us it’s our priority to practice and extend KINDNESS to all.
