Investigations have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the death of Marcella Powell of 12 McIntyre Lane, Goodwill.
According to reports from Police PRO, Acting Inspector Pellam Jno Baptiste it was reported to the police that about 5:00 am on November 15, 2016, Powell was transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) after complaining of feeling unwell.
He said on her arrival she was examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
Powell was employed as the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education.
Meantime he said police have also commenced investigations into the death of an adult male, Denise Bernard Toussaint, 54 of Pointe Michel.
Jno Baptiste said it was reported to the police that about 8:15am on November 17, 2016, Toussaint was discovered at his father’s residence in an unconscious state.
He was examined and officially pronounced dead by a medical Doctor.
A coroner’s inquest will be convened in both cases.
Investigations are ongoing.

I also know of one death at pmh that was pure neglegence a few years ago and the suspect dr treated it like nothing and moved on she must still be practicing too… totally not suprise I knew it was coming and is one of those Cuban study Dr’s too..
The autopsy will reveal the cause of death.
I do not wish to undermine the Police and their work. However, lately they are always investigating but this is the last we hear about that.
Police, when you complete your investigations, please let us know the results, if natural or unnatural death.
What is there to investigate?. Did the autopsy reveal something other than a sudden death. Something strange is happening on our island, too many sudden deaths.
i think all these sudden deaths have some relation people feeling sick and suddenly dieing some thinghing is wrong on the island and the medical profesionals are overlooking it or they not telling the pubic somthing.
I suspect the departed lady is simply another victim of the PMH, like all those people who suffered malpractice at the hands of the Cuban, and so called Chines doctors. While police continue to investigate, I would also like them to investigate the death of my late friend Mona George Dill.
She did not die in the Hospital, but I am sure, very sure she was misdiagnosed and allow to go home and die! One has cardiac,(heart issues) first a quacks said it is a heart valve problem, then they said it is not.
When someone is misdiagnosed, no matter what treatment the patient gets, it will be useless since the actual sickness is not treated. Meanwhile the police should also investigate the so called doctor who sent my niece home to die while she hemorrhage internally from injuries she sustained to her head while a criminal was beating her to death!
Ironically the criminal escaped to St. Lucia where he is believed to be, yet the police made no effort to have him extradited to Dominica,…

Telemaque, common. Cease your critique about PMH. Not all doctors are quacks or do not know what they are doing. Did you not read that she had the flu and probably the man who died in Pointe Michel? Do you not know that the flu could kill especially the elderly? Give this a thought.
You cannot consider a person in their early fifties old, she may look as an older person, but that is due to hard life in Dominica, stress, and perhaps fear of Skerrit, and victimization. If she was acting in a position for more than ten years, that means she is not a favorite of the establishment, the cabal.
The Skerrit cabal; that is enough to make someone look old! The quacks at may be responsible for her death. You know people have died from the flue, nevertheless, it depends on what kind of virus infected them.

Did the autopsies reveal any sort of foul play? Unless the coroner has determined the causes of death to be homicide, I am not sure what purpose a police investigation would serve at this stage.

Even if an autopsy does not reveal foul play, it does not necessarily mean that foul play was not the cause of death. There are numerous instances in medical history where foul play was initially ruled out, but further police investigation, including exhumation of the body to apply rigorous forensic techniques, revealed that the cause of death was indeed homicide. Let’s not rush to judgement. I support a thorough forensic investigation to compliment the coroner’s report.
Neither the police not the DLP can determine the cause of death. They can only prosecute the case after the coroner has determined that a homicide has been committed. Before that is established everything else is premature.

Did the autopsy indicate foul play, poison, blunt force trauma, or something that indicate it was not natural. If so with all those sudden death we may have a scary problem on our hands. In my own feeble mind police only investigate death after an autopsy indicate some suspicions of foul play. If autopsy revealed otherwise then there is nothing much police investigation can do. I guess this announcement is to give appearance that police is on top of things. What are the results of all the other investigations.

Well they should wait when the darn inquest is convened. That will determine whether investigation is warranted. All you behaving like people not supposed to die. Everyone in Dominica including you and me have to go at some point one way or another. If the news says police investigation going then they giving the public well me the reader that they suspected something fishy.
