Queen Marcia Baptiste is InsidePossie.com’s Personality of the Year!

2010 Queen Marcia Baptiste

Queen Marcia Baptiste made history when she won the Miss Dominica pageant this year. On February 12, Marcia emerged victorious in the best talent, best in evening wear and Miss Photogenic round, on her way to lifting the crown out of seven contestants.

This was the first time a Portsmouth native had captured the crown in 26 years! Besides her historic win here, Queen Marcia has won the Miss Caribbean World in Tortola and Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen Antigua in July. She has also placed second runner up in Miss Carnival in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and she emerged fourth out of 20 contestants in the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus which was held in St Maarten.

Besides her winning exploits on the stage, Queen Marcia is a tireless advocate of diabetes and is especially passionate about this work since she has lost family to the disease. She is perhaps the most prominent person raising awareness of this disease in the island of Dominica.

Miss Baptiste would like to say a special thank you to her head Chaperone Elma Aaron, her family and the rest of her team (Prince St. Jean, Ms. Fenella Wenham, Ms. Carlyn Rolle, Tessa Hyacinth, Marcus, Sean Douglas, Mr. Joseph, Mrs. Velma Ambo, Ms Frederica James) Urban Shape Body Action, Aries boutique, Caribbean Contractors Dominica limited, Dr. Geoffrey Lafond, DBlush, Northern Concrete and Steel, Grand Bazaar, Northern Festival Committee, LIME, Supercuts Salon (Portsmouth), The Glam, Belfast trading limited, Springfield Trading Limited, Screws, The Prime Minister of Dominica, Ms Catherine Daniel, Mr. Stephens, DFC, Alvin Alexander and many other businesses and persons who helped out in one way or another, her friends, her supporters, and her criticizers for their support in any way during her reign.

THANK YOU!

Because of her historic win, giving the people of Portsmouth something they had yearned for years and her advocacy in diabetes awareness among Dominicans, Queen Marcia is Insidepossie.com’s Personality of the Year!!!

it’s the little things that matters. If You thanking, thank form the beginning. God hates an ungrateful person. I am very disappointed that certain key persons were left out. Was that a misstake, then correct the error. It was as a result of the good start you were able to move on.
Possie for possie. While I say congrats to Marcia, I must big up my Nurse Parillon. Excellent Talent.

Ms. Baptiste, I admire your strength and courage, I was impressed with your advocacy on diabetise, many people do not understand that this disease is a slow killer, I suffered the loss of my love through this killer, and i was happy when you took it up as your business to inform and educate. I am sorry that the cultural division did not see it fit to be at your side as well as the DFC to give you the praise that you truly deserve like all the other ladies who have won the title of Miss Dominica.
However, that did not deter you and you moved on. As your reign comes to an end son, I want to encourage you to stay focus, you are a lovely lady, I hope you will further your education soon and return to Dominica to continue your good work. Our young ladies should take a page from your book, and emulate those wonder qualities that you exhibit. Good Luck my dear in your future endeavours. God Bless You.

That is the type of calibre of persons we need to have representing as Queen. Persons with such talent don’t come along very often & I think that we must harness these people potential to the fullest. Not only going out to represent in talent shows, but as spoke persons for other key organisations & i think that the carnival/dfc committees need to take a serious view on that.

Well done insidepossie.com and congrats to Queen Marcia. Thank you for representing Dominica so well during your reign as Queen for 2010. I’m sure you must have done your best, under the circumstances.

I was so so disappointed (not in you) when I saw you some weeks aback at the Melville Hall Airport, coming from representing Dominica overseas ,and not one official from C.O.C or even Discover Dominica Authority was there to welcome you back. You had to go search for your luggage and take the up to customs yourself, with your crown on your head. This was so so bad and i really wonder why were you abandoned and disrespected in that way.

My first instinct would be to hit the airways next day ( if i were you) as a form of protest. But again you are a lady of CLASS.
WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN THE FUTURE AND AGAIN THANKS FOR REPRESENTING D/CA THE WAY YOU DID.

Congratulations to the queen, her town and her country. It is strange how we are very quick to add our criticisms when someone does something wrong, but slow to support someone who has done outstandingly weel. May God continue to light up your life with blessings, success and happiness.

Not necessarily as it is great to see Dominicans showing appreciate to their fellow islanders and that is admirable, and even more so when it has been awarded to the so deserving and inspiring Miss Dominica 2010, Marcia Baptiste.

This is an opportunity for people who are civic minded and exhibit community spirit like Marcia has done and continue to do, to keep striving to make that change in their local communities for the better.

      Good job!

WELL DONE. WITHOUT SUPPORT YOU COULDN’T HAVE MADE IT ALONE.
BUT WHEN IT BECOMES SO OBVIOUS TO FORGET PERSONS WHO WERE AT THE FOREFRONT IN YOUR COSTUME AND WHAT ABOUT THE PERSON WHO WROTE YOUR TALENT WHICH STOOD OUT IN YOUR WINNING (IT’S NOT ME TO MENTION NAMES) ONE HAS TO WONDER, WHERE IS THE REST OF THE GRATITUDE. THAT’S MY TWO CENTS

ANYWAY YOU’VE MADE YOUR MARK. iT DOESN’T STOP HERE ANYTHING YOU DO PEOPLE WILL SEE YOU AS THE QUEEN FROM POSSIE. LIVE UP TO THE NAME IT SHOULDN’T END WITH THE REIGN.
