Relatives sought for Dominican living in St. Lucia

Elisha Graham

To whom it may concern:

I am writing in aid of an elderly man by the name of Elisha Graham. He is 68 years old and resides in the petite community of Odsan.

Mr. Graham lost contact with his family both abroad and has none down here. I would like assistance in getting him in contact with his relatives.

He has passed the age of retirement and the best thing for him is to be in the arms of his relatives. Getting in contact with his family members is a desire that he has been contemplating for some time. Some of his relatives hopefully should be in the various Caribbean islands such as Dominica.

If he gets into contact with some of them, the rest may be found. He is a Dominican, was raised in Dominica but has and currently resides in St. Lucia.

He misses them badly and always speaks about them and the memories they shared. This brings tears to his eyes.

This assistance would be more than appreciated. Feel free to contact me at the above numbers. Looking forward to Mr. Graham becoming associated with his family once more.

Anyone with information should contact:

Marilyn Gustave

Address: Odsan, Castries  St. Lucia

Telephone: 1-758-461-6710 or 1-758-519-7008.

Thank you for your consideration of my request.

Thank you “say it as you see it”. You see some people don’t understand what is going on there and then they come with all sorts of comments but we as his family members we know what we are talking about. I mean there is forgiveness no one is saying not to forgive him but on the other hand, you have to make sure you can maintain a person when you take them in, if you do not have a big house and you have your kids where are you going to put the person to sleep, you have to take all that into consideration. As I said before he can come down Dominica is his country but maybe they can accommodate him at the grotto home which is a home for the homeless.

Some folks are just not very good in communicating on paper, and may have lost or forgotten telephone numbers. I think I know this guy! As more and more people give various descriptions of him.

Everybody deserves a helping hand. I’ve seen people who did take care of their family and found themselves in need with no one to turn to. If it was said that he had been lost or missing at sea, many people would hypocritically wish for his safe return – Well, he is kinda lost but alive and we should all wish him well. Who knows! He may play the lotto with one dollar and become a Millionaire. Then all his distant relatives and family would be coming out of the woodwork.

There are some people who, in their youth, would prefer to be anywhere else than the country they were born in.

The sad thing is, many of these people make no contingency plans for their old age/retirement. It appears that this gentleman fell into the same trap. If you live your home country to seek work, it is expected that your fortunes should be a bit better.

I hope and pray that this gentleman did not fall prey to the social ills such as drinking rum/gambling/whoring/smoking illegal substances.

Tell him to get a new Dominica passport and our Giovt. will look after him under the yes-we care-program. After all he is a citizen, born here and not in Iran.

People seem to be disliking certain comments but really, some people turn their backs on their families when they’ve got all their strength youth and vitality and it’s only when they’ve grown old they remember they had a family, at times you can’t blame people for not caring. Some people lie on the bed they make. It may sound cruel but that’s the reality of life.

There are always two sides to a story. At this time we give the benefit of the doubt. The critics should show their compassion in a Christian-like manner.
St. Vincent de Paul said: “Be kind and you will be a saint.” This is in words and deeds.
You should know what Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us about love for one another and what He expects us of.

Elisha aka Licious. Finally we know where you are. I thought you were deceased. Both your mother and wife have passed. I hope you do get help that you need. Things are brown in Dominica.I am happy to know that you are alive. You look very well. All I can wish you best of luck. If the Grotto accepts you, I’ll do the best I can to assist.

This guy do not look like a disabled person, he appears to have a lot of life within him. I do not know his condition, I doubt that the Grotto would be the best place for him.
I’m looking at St.Lucia, a stone throw away from Dominica, why did he allow time to lapse on him, if he was taken to St. Lucia as a child, while growing up and working there, he should have made the effort to return to Dominica to reunite with his family and friends, now that {maybe} he is in distress he is now making an appeal to rekindle with families. I wish him well.

He is from Canefield but never really lived with his mom, he used to live at St. Joseph with his granny but that is donkey years ago. As I say the only solution right now is the grotto home. That is a lesson for all of us to learn never abandon your family because you never know one day you will want to come back to them, even though you can’t get along with all but have one or two family members and always keep in touch with them. His name is Elisha but he is commonly known as Lysious. Good Luck cousin, I myself cannot take you.

  18. I would imagine if someone is looking for members of their family, they would at least mention one person name. At age 68, he is not an old man, there are people much older than him who functions normally.

Unless he is senile, or mentally retarded, he should remember at least one of his relative name. I was born in Wesley, and the only person in all of Dominica with the name Graham was one person from Wesley, his name is Heskieth Graham, he immigrated to England more than fifty years ago.

His father is Antiguan born, came to Dominica as a police officer in the colonial days. So his name might be an Antiguan name, where there are just a few people living in Antigua name Graham. Now I know where to locate Hesketh in England, but Hesketh is in his late 80’s too, and I doubt they may have shared the same father.

So often in my travels I hear many Dominicans fall in this cateogory…Losing contact with their Family and Love ones alike

    • Let me tell you something, people live in Dominica, and loose track of their family okay, I do not want to be story teller, but my grandmother had a sister left Wesley and went to Roseau, many years when I was about six years old I heard my grand mother talked about her, and suggest she might be dead.

I remember about 1858 I was riding on a truck going to Roseau, traveling on the Layou valley Road when the driver of the truck stopped and some people went to a little house along way on a small Banana Estate belong to Antiguan born Scotland the late, who had that little shop near the bridge.

When the returned to the truck I hears someone whispered: she is Ma John sister. I was a little boy I ask no question, I did not even mention that to my grandmother. By the time I was thirteen, one afternoon I saw this short Carib woman, and a man walked into our yard, whit their lugged.

The lady turned out to be my Grandmother sister, the same lady who served the people from Wesley…

Francisco, I laughed when I saw 1858.   I knew it was a typographical error.
I usually make a joke and say I wish I could live to be that old and older, a few hundred years old except that I could look then as I do now. I make those people laugh. Wishful thinking.
What is life without a laugh especially that we are growing older. Today age is very much discussed; not dwelling on it with sadness but that we say, how time flies. It makes for a good conversational piece among relatives and friends as we reminisce of those younger days also school ones.

What you sow that shall you reap. When you were up and about you never got in touch with your family for years now you left DA, we don’t really know you because you’ve been gone for such a long time. Well I think the only solution is to seek assistance from St. Lucia in purchasing a ticket for you to come down and the Grotto home will have to take you in because to be honest with you I don’t think any family member is going to accept right now. You are my cousin and you only have one sister by mother here right now and trust me that’s not possible.

    • Looking
      May 25, 2017

The logical solution would be to contact the above mentioned number. Even if he was not corresponding, you can still assist in getting him to the Grotto home. Let the love and forgiveness flow.

These people claiming to be Christians do all sorts of wicked things and support all kinds of Evil doers while claiming to be Christians. I am sure that if you were able to help if this man was to be returned to dominica you will.

The best thing to do is to contact the person whose name appears on the article and inquire about him. Get some information about him, is he well or not. Then decide from there what could be done for him.
The St. Lucia government could also be contacted. If he was employed in St. Lucia he should receive a pension or some sort of financial benefit.

@ papa ….I’m assuming he is down and out and is in desperate need. St.Lucia is so close to Dominica. All those years, why didn’t he try taking at least one trip back home to see relatives , write a note (if he is illiterate have someone write something for him) or make a phone call? Whomever wrote this article, I suggest you continue taking care of him eh. If the money finish..too bad. When he was in his good times, he was death and blind…now he maybe broke he is starting to see light.
