Roseau violence not about UWP meeting Linton says

Scene in Roseau on Tuesday night

Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, has condemned what he described as “violence and vandalism” which took place in Roseau on Tuesday night following a public meeting organized by opposition parties calling for the resignation of Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit.

On Wednesday morning Linton said the disturbances were “not about our meeting yesterday afternoon.”

“What happened last night had absolutely nothing to do with our meeting,” he said.

Linton claimed that he and his family were threatened on Tuesday night.

“There were messages on social media saying all sorts of things to me,” he stated. “All I have ever said was we wanted a peaceful engagement and we had a peaceful engagement and all of a sudden people who never had anything to say about anything wrong in this country, they found their voice of who should do what and who should have done what else.”

Linton, who was called back to the scene after the meeting was over, said he did his best and he continues to do his best.

“Our party is focused, notwithstanding all the criticism, the blamed being heaped on us,” he noted.

He added, “Today we say the United Workers Party (UWP) condemns the acts of violence and vandalism that erupted in the streets of Roseau during the evening of February 7, 2017, causing widespread loss and damage to business enterprises and triggering fears for safety and security in a season of heightened tension in our practice of civility.”

He stated that as the events unfolded the leadership of the UWP was being blamed on the ground because of what took place earlier in the day calling for the resignation of Skerrit.

“Both events are unrelated and we condemned these baseless criticisms as forcefully as we condemn the lawlessness visited on the capital city on Tuesday night,” he noted.

He pointed out that the violence took place hours after the meeting had ended and was used to embarrass the UWP. He said those behind it owe it to a “deeply concerned nation to speak truth, to speak the whole truth and nothing but the truth because that is precisely what will set us free.”

“Hypocrisy will not cut it,” Linton noted. “Lies will not cut it. False accusations will not cut it. We urge the citizens of Dominica to be calm. We urge the leadership of the political parties, civil society and law enforcement to meet in emergency session to agree on a national plan for the restoration and maintenance of peace …”

He noted that the UWP team will be meeting in an emergency session on Wednesday morning to review what happened “and to look at where we go from here.”

“And we stand ready to partner with government, with law enforcement with civil society in order to figure out how did we get to this and how do we move on…” Linton remarked. “Because what happened last night was truly unfortunate but the UWP at this time remains concerned..”

He said attempts to put the meeting and the violence together cannot hold because the meeting ended hours “before this happened.”

Like I’ve said before I really don’t care for linton nor skerrit but I’m very concerned about what my beautiful Dominica is coming to, it’s nothing wrong with patriotic Dominican who live outside of DA to be concerned about what’s happening in their country, my problem is, when you get involved in their politics and their election, if you really want to get involved to play a part in seeing the country get better best you move back to DA and face the same struggle and misery as they are, by facing the same struggle you will be in a better position to make a suitable choice as to who is better qualify and who is able to put Dominicans first, it is really unfair to Dominicans who live down there all their lives that cannot afford to leave like you all did, I do not support or encourage anyone who living their good life outside of DA to run down and vote every election to make decisions for those that live in DA after election run back to their good living, it is unfair to…

    • So, that you do not lose anything to the fictitious nobody “DDay,” let me conclude that:

‘I make more money in one night, when I am sleeping; than many of you will make in a life time!’ And when I die, children and grandchildren will not have to wish for anything money can buy!

And believe you me I do not steal; everything I own is my God given, none comes through stealing, or doing anything corrupt, or illegally, as selling drugs; and I am not an agent selling Dominica passports!

Dominica has no doubt become the laughing stock of the Caribbean. We have kids in leadership for both political parties. We have supporters who only think color and are not able to think independently. Constituents are placed in a position where they must continue to sing for their supper. To sum it all up, Dominican politics is pretty much comedic. When we decide as a nation and as a people to elect and choose mature leadership on both sides we may someday be able to tackle and find solutions to most of the problems that plague our little nation.

but but where i be there nuh???? but lennox u not easy…so dcans don’t have the right to speak out against your party if they felt that your “peaceful meeting” went too far destroying the business of hard working people??? i was never a supporter of the UWP but i respected you as a fellow Dominican but after what i saw and heard yesterday???? Sir i have lost all respect for you and my vote will continue to go to the Labor party as long as i live!!!!

In order for this country to move forward we need different people… Both parties are playing the blame game but blame must be shared equally …. This nonsense going on between the Pm and Mr Linton needs to stop ….I am not voting for either party till we get new candidates … It seems that you guys dont even realize that it is one big party fighting against each other …. THE FREEDOM PARTY SPLIT…some went to labour and some went to uwp … There is no real uwp or no real labour party… just freedom party …. we need change we need proper leaders … not two little boys fighting for the chair of the scornful… Wake up Dominicans! Wake up!!

Linton you are no patriot, you are an enemy of the state! You are weak, your team is weak and your supporters are weak! You are nothing but a power hungry who will go to outlandish lengths to see your own country destroyed! What did you accomplish following the events of yesterday? Did the prime minister or any cabinet member resign? Were they put out of office, arrested? Are you now the leader? No. The people will continue to reject you, just as they did in the 2014 general election. How dare you say the police has no authority to tell you what to do?
When you apprised your supporters of the protest, you very well knew it would go on way past the scheduled time, eventually causing unrest. Now you’re sitting here saying that your life was at risk. You have been a troublemaker from the onset. You have no shame. #LintonMustGo

I condemn your piece of puffery,an hail the honourable patriotennox Linton as a fantastic leader….To begin he does not sell passports to crooks and criminals like NGLapseng and Monfared..This is leadership…He always calls for peace,as was exemplified at the meeting which I attended. This is leadership…He calls for transparency in the CBI,THIS IS LEADERSHIP,so be careful of what you blogg,or else it can be considered garbage to be dumped at a landfill.

    • Frances you are one of the worst idiot alive! You are more an enemy of the state than Lennox ever will! Can you honestly say during the meeting you heard a single seditious word came out of Lennox mouth!

Did you hear at any time Lennox told anyone to go during the meeting, or after the meeting to walk through the streets of Roseau and set fire to the streets, or to vandalized anybody place of business?

If you can say yes to one of my questions, then you would be right to tag Lennox an enemy of the State. You are so damn dunce you do not even know the meaning of the word, you are just another robot repeating what you read another idiot puppet of Skerrit said on DNO last week.

And if you think that Lennox is an enemy of the state; I classify you to be a communist, because such stupid rhetoric as yours is the rhetoric of a communist!

he nearly cause police to kill people and caused an angry mob to vandalize people place. This would have never happened if he didn’t have his version of a “peaceful protest”. go float urself dude.

        Francisco

Are you sure you want to call someone else idiot? It is only an idiot who would expect to hear anyone tell the crowd to go into Roseau and smash windows.

That’s not the way it is done. It is done, in summary, by pounding the airwaves every day for more than fifteen years with negative messages about Dominica and those in office and how through their corruption they are robbing Dominicans of the progress which they deserve and endangering their future.

If you hear that often enough and within a particular period the pressure is built up to a named D-Day, you certainly would not need explicit instructions to erupt into violence.

You refused to end the so called meeting at three o’clock as agreed with the Police. You left the meeting at a time when your supporters were already exhibiting acts of defiance to the Police, you did not say or do anything to calm the situation that you had created. The acts of vandalism were targeted, clearly to harm the business community, and the ability for officials and citizens to communicate effectively. While the acts of violence and vandalism were taking place you remained silent and defiant. Now today you are claiming innocence. It is all on you, you know, that Dominica knows that, the world knows that. You are totally responsible for what happened. You shall pay a very high price for your mischief and evil deeds.

Some are either trying to distract us, DLP conspirators, plain stupid or unable to understand the issue. The issue is about the “CBI Programme” – corrupted (no economical), so-called “income” generating scheme. As the competition heats up from islands such as Antigua, St kitts, and others, what shape will passport selling become. Will Dominica have to reduce it price or will it have to add something else to sweeten the deal.

WAKE UP !!!!!! DOMINICAN WAKE UP!!!!!!

Some blame the length of meeting causing the riots REALLY. Neither the meeting nor the protest are illegal last time I checked. Non-violent protest and other means has to be the way to go.

A review of the CBI Programme has to be done, listing the names, amounts, type of passport and date issue are some of the items to be discussed. Whilst the PM might believe he represent the majority, the minority still have concerns and a say.

Peaceful!? Your tone, demeanor and lack of respect for the allotted time suggested otherwise. You are such a hypocritical mischief-maker. Your so called meeting was due to end at 3 pm. Why then would you blatantly disrespect the police, disregard all regulations put in place to curb such happenings and continue for a whole hour and thirty minutes? You spat your words with such hostility, such anger…so much so your supporters simulated you. At about 2:52 pm you stated “we will go when we ready to go!” So when you uttered such words, you didn’t think your supporters would stay as long as they wanted to? Say it ain’t so! What did you expect would happen when you left your perturbed crowd unattended? Why are you now distancing yourself and the UWP from the matter? You know for a fact that your band of thugs would behave violently. What kind of leader are you? With every passing day, you show the good citizens of Dominica why we would never vote for you!

Common man, honestly I really don’t care for neither skerrit or linton this is about my country I love so dearly, destroying people businesses and property, that’s taking it too far, one more thing I’m not blaming the DLP nor the UWP I’m them that living their good life in all different part the world and the only time most of them visit DA is election time vote to make decisions them that cannot afford to leave and run back to their good life living in the same misery and struggle.

I don’t see any need to distance oneself or organisation from what happened. The people acted in self-defence and out of frustration after being attacked by the police with teargas.

I regret the vandalism and destruction to people’s property but that is why you need the leaders to be at the forefront at all times to channel the energies of the people, in an organised manner, and not allow the movement to get rid of Skerrit to be overtaken by vandals.

Skerrit seems vey clear on his intent: “Be wrong and strong and use the full weight of the Police force to crush any dissent to his rule.” The people must adapt quickly and have appropriate responses because it seems that he has made up his mind not to go quietly but SKERITT MUST GO!!!!

The act of violence is condemned by everyone, we know dat.
Dominicans need to know about the CBI n allegations of wrong doing by the Skerritt lead government.
Last night on DBS, every labour supporter tried to blame the opposition which is very misleading. The labour party ministers were very very pissed as they said and gave Lennox and the freedom party a tongue lashing. Honestly, they were all calling on God and pretending that God only hears Labourite prayers. This is a government of hypocrites,, and pastor Cecil was singin trust and obey whilst his party folks used some hate n strong language to his approval.
God is not a Labourite. If you all so Godly, be honest about the CBI program n where the money gone.
In the meantime, uwp must continue to champion the cause for freedom the Jesus way, which is as they know non violence. Truth to power.

Time for the political leaders to sit down together in the best interest of the country. And time to restore good governance and the primacy of parliament. If we have open, even contentious, debate in parliament, it will inform the people, assuage their angst and lead to an acceptance of power or a peaceful exchange of it.

    February 8, 2017

@blessing, this is the Evangelist that use to preach against evil and wrong doing before, until I got my diplomatic Passport. ,As a Born Again Evangelist I can testify that I have attended several church services where everyone knew where the expected time to end the service was say 12:30 but most times we ended an hour later. In fact in some cases especially at a Pentecostal church, the microphone is given to the preach at the time we expect to dismiss service and the crowd urges us to ignore time and preach, especially when we under the anointing. In fact they even put a “noise act” in place to make sure we don’t go pass 11pm, but as you know we never paid attention to that and we do have secular bands and shops play their music till day break. So blessing I find it funny that you blaming Mr. Linton for going a little pass the given time, for the mess we saw in Roseau Last night. Speaking at a press briefing on Monday afternoon, Carbon stated permission was granted to the UWP for the meeting but the party must adhere to a few important guidelines to ensure safety.

The organizers of the meeting were told the following:
    1) The speakers at that meeting must refrain from making inflammatory statements to incite violence.
    2) To ensure that the meeting is peaceful and adheres to the rule of the law and order.
    3) That the leaders and organizers of the meeting be responsible to ensure that the meeting was peaceful.

According to Carbon, the UWP has made the assurance that the public meeting will indeed be peaceful.

Even a Perfect Idiot like myself can see all the expectations of the police were met by the UWP as the meeting was very successful, very, very, very large crowd, the meeting was very peaceful and leaders ensured peace.

Meeting ended @5:45 and riot was instigated about an hour later. Who were the instigators: I guess those who were disappointed…

The Leader of the Opposition said they agreed with the meeting with the Police that they would have a peaceful meeting and would abide by the starting and ending time.

Then at his meeting he tells the crowd the police cannot tell them when they should start or end their meeting. Nice; the crowd liked that. He went further and said we could stop at 3PM or 11PM. Their meeting will end whenever it ends he told supporters. We all heard him. He is totally responsible for what transpired. The UWP wanted it, the planned it, and they executed it. They and only they are totally to blame.

The wanted confrontation with Labourites but they didn’t get it. Labourites wore their red in support of the PM and the government but stayed away from the UWP meeting. That must have been the only thing that did not go as planned for the UWP. So instead wanted a DDay with the police.

But the police had to even save the UWP from themselves. No passing mark for the UWP.

Why such defiance and disrespect for the rule of law.
You said quote “Who were the instigators: I guess those who were disappointed” well who were the ones disappointed, It was not The Government neither their supporters, if anyone was disappointed it was the UWP and their supporters who failed in their attempt

how can one speak about unity and at the same-time destroy people property ….people that are working hard and paying their taxes… so i may ask…what good can we take from this?

How can you plan an event and leave early when your supporters were creating issues with the police about where they wanted a truck to pass? Foolishness!!. How can the civilians give the Police orders when the road had been barricaded off since morning? The Police is boss of the Road and they have the authority to allow vehicle to pass wherever even if is on a one-way street…once instructions are given. Plus, that nonsense about a lot of people – I was right there….most of the people had gone already and even if all of them were there….there would have been enough room for the truck to pass through. Triple Kay does have four times more people and truck passing through.Every day people are on Q95 calling for just what occured(even bloodshed) and now…we are acting like this was not a possibility. In fact, the general impression was that things had gone too smootlhly earlier.

January 1, 2017, was sure not a good day for DA

For selling passport to crooks and criminals-blame Lennox

    Just blame Lennox

Read up on it and you shall understand. I find it fishy this term was used.

People do have rights but there is a right way to get a government out of power.

Dominica has always been a place where we put god first why stop now?? People going around saying they are going to kill and destroy to get their way?? Funny thing is one side saying yes kill them all and the other side says why does everyone have to pay the price for destruction.
As Dominicans we have lost our way. Wars only bring pains. D Day–( is a term associated with war) people took it to mean that. At the end of the day mr linton says yesterdays activities was successful.

It was a remarkable and very successful meeting by the opposition UWP/ DFP.! No doubt the turn out put a lot of FEAR, PANIC and EMBARRASSMENT in the camp of Skerrit and they needed something like what happened late last night to find their voice again because no doubt, what they say caused them to poopoo in their pants and in their panties.

Politicians shouldn’t play the blame game this morning. I urge the leadership of the uwp/ dfp to continue telling the people about our passports that are in the hands of criminals all over and we will not stop until Skerrit tells us who sold our diplomatic passport, how much the sold them for, and where is every cent hiding.
I heard Skerrit & Blackmore talking about investigation but we don’t want them to conduct any such thing because the real culprits will go free. Part of our call today ought to be to bring the FBI, Scotland Yard or Interpol ASAP so they could investigate the cause of the trouble & the seller of our diplomatic pass

So on one hand our dear beloved Dominican privileged passport is too precious to be sold (as if no other countries sells passports, no matter what term they call it). Yet you believe a Republic Sovereign Nation should bring a foreign agency unto Dominican soil to investigate our own dealings? And off course these agencies are pure and untainted right? The violence last night was long coming. The language and rhetoric that has been used over the last few months has been nothing short of criminal and people should be held accountable. Even in your comment above, you do or say nothing to calm already hot tensions. When you say “they need something like what happened last night” that is condoning what happened and asking for more of it to happen until YOU are satisfied with what you want.

Philosophers have always debated the narrowness of our vision. I will use an analogy. If you had two leaders looking for power however, one was a candy shop owner and the other was a doctor. The doctor speaks first and says the good deeds that he does and will do if the people support him. Then comes the Candy shop owner who says, ‘cant you see this man is a liar. Aren’t you always happy when you get the biggest lollipop from my shop or that sugary sweet? However, when you go into his office all he does is poke you in uncomfortable places and make you feel more pain. Injections are no fun’. The people pause for a minute and takes sides with the candy shop owner. I ask you, how can the doctor reply? The emotions of the people have been won by trickster. Logic does not require emotions but requires a calm state of mind and willingness to ask ourselves questions. After these questions are answered sincerely, we will have clear vision of the situation.

It was a peaceful gathering. At the end of the day the police, if the time frame was allotted should have cleared the city at that time etc hence warranting this unforeseen action of violence. Also you can’t place a party by what happen, you place the frustration of the people by the corruption that is going on in this country. The police the government etc are all corrupted. Stop trying to cry down UWP because if there wasn injustice in the first people the people would not be trying to let their voice be heard base on the nonsense that going on in this country.

What is this injustice that you’re suffering? the CBI and diplomatic passports does not cause you any direct injustice. Sure there are indirect ramifications but it does not cause you personal injustice. I see no one crying foul when money is given to re-house people, be it for Storm Erika or for the Silver lake fire, I see no one complains of money for roads or bridges, or project that would not otherwise be paid for. But i hear a lot about injustice. If our little Island in the sun could only realise that the 73,000 people in the island, with perhaps 1/3 working could NEVER pay enough taxes for all the things the country needs or WANTS, then maybe, just maybe we would be a little more grown up about this. We complain that the chinese giving us, complain that the venezuelans giving us, complain that Morocco giving us, now it’s CBI and. We seem to always find a motive to complain, but never a plan or an alternative.

And here in lies the issue with Dominican Politics. Why the personal insults and denegration? Because someone has a different viewpoint to yours? Seriously? It’s Politics. Politics is not just these high level things, or every 4 years. The water you drink, the clothes you wear, the roof over your head, the land you walk or grow on. It’s all Politics. Decisions about these things are made on your behalf without you ever even realising it. There’s no need for tis “kind” of politics in Dominica. Though I understand it’s how we black people do politics. All across the Caribbean to Africa, it’s all bitter and personal and emotional. Take the CBI and diplomatic passports out of the equation, what else is there that really attracts? Focus on those issues just as strongly. A political party focussed on One issue is more dangerous than anything else. Because you have no idea what else they will do in power.

This incident was sparked by the Police Leadership who instructed Police Officers on the ground not to allow a truck to pass through police barricades. People (including members of the UWP Leadership) actually plead with the Police to please allow the truck to pass to diffuse an escalating situation and the Police flatly REFUSED! The police, instead, wanted the truck to go the opposite direction on a ONE WAY STREET into the crowd! The Police saw that frustration, agitation and anxiety was building among the people yet refused to do the wise and simple thing by allowing the truck through the barricades and to close the barricades once the truck is through. They refused to compromise until a young boy in the crowd threw something towards the Police barricades and absolute chaos ensued. The riot police started to fire tear gas and the crowd retaliated with bottles and stones. As the crowd disbursed, young people began to set fires and destroy business places.

Mr. Linton, I take cause with your refusal to accept some of the responsibility for last night’s events. Although I will agree that the actions of those who thought it necessary to cause havoc, were not the intent of the demonstration, you must agree that yesterday’s planned protest was the catalyst to last night’s vandalism. Today, both UWP’s supporters and opponents are negatively impacted by an ill advised, poorly organized demonstration. Today, some are without businesses, or jobs yo report to. The tourism industry will suffer an immediate blow, none of the cruise ships scheduled to dock in Dominica today will not make a port call, therefore the vendors, tour guides, restaurateurs will not make an honest dollar. The government will have to allocate funds to rebuilding and clean up. Dominica’s economy has been dealt another devastating blow.

It would be expected that shallow thinkers and crooked planners would turn the blame to the UWP. It was a terrible decision however to send Riot Police to bait peaceful demonstration. By this act the Police and the Goverment were subliminally inviting Riot. So don’t stand there with a straight face and ignore the sinister role that Gov’t played in agitating this unrest..
The Gov’t must continue to remember that all Dominicans are entitled to equal rights to choose who to support. It is very disturbing that the DLP are free to have meetings without menacing police squads hovering (even snipers on rooftop) and whenever the UWP opposition plan an event the Police is sent out in large numbers and heavily armed..are not UWP supporters Dominicans too?

Mr. Linton I take cause with you refusing to accept some responsibility for last night’s events. I agree that the resulting vandalism was not the purpose of your protest, but you must agree that the rhetoric during the demonstration was the catalyst to last night’s events. Your condemnation was due at 6:30 p.m. last night. Today supporters and opponents alike are affected. Some are suddenly without businesses, and jobs, the government must now allocate resources for clean up. The tourism industry is impacted, none of the cruise ships scheduled to dock in Dominica this morning will make a port call. The vendors and the tour guides, will not earn an honest dollar today. Dominica’s economy has been dealt another devastating blow.

Free speech as related to the crime “Incitement to Riot” and free will
So we have freedom of speech, but we also have a crime by Law or Human decency called “incitement to riot.”
If you want to commit that crime, what you need to do is get up in front of a group of people, and say some words. If the words you say make the crowd angry enough to run around assaulting other citizens and destroying property for a while (that is, if they riot), then you’ve succeeded.

Bear in mind, though, that you don’t have to actually assault anyone or destroy anyone’s property to be guilty of a crime. You just have to say things that inspire others to do those things. But you’ve still committed a crime. The idea is that the folks who rioted would never have done so if you hadn’t got them all riled up.
Remember, too, that we also arrest and prosecute rioters for destruction of property.

Linton has been calling for Dominica to be a responsible partner in global peace and security for weeks, yet he seem to have no interest for the same in his own homeland. The man repeatedly challenges the police, and refused to follow guidelines to prevent such lawless acts. Encouraging civil disobedience. Now he wants to distance himself from it. Why couldn’t your protest end at 3 p.m, peacefully. Not ready to be a leader of this country.

  69. February 8, 2017

Yes it was about the UWP meeting. Stop trying to spin it. How can you have a meeting calling for the immediate resignation of the Government, give your supporters comfort that it is going happen. When it doesn’t happen and your supporters resort to random violence you try to take the high ground. Meanwhile ambassador in waiting Gabriel ” Snitch” Christian was busy making the rounds of Capitol Hill bad talking Dominica. Well if the USA has to depend on Gabriel Christian to inform it on what is happening in Dominica its intelligence services are in a really bad way.
With all these allegations of sale of diplomatic passports with no evidence that a sale took place. People like Copley and Rijock continue to refer to the CBS 60 minutes program as an in-depth report, when the only information came from Lennox and he provided no evidence. Allison Maduke is in London it is alleged that she paid for the diplomatic passport, why not interview her to find out if she did pay.

Hypocrite! What wouldn`t you say! You called for D-Day, what did you think it meant? Don`t tell me you are that naive and if such is the case then Dominica is in more trouble than I imagined. Lennox be a man and accept responsibility for what transpired lastnight in Roseau. You are soley responsible! You called for D-Day you got D-Day so don`t run and hide now behind you hypocracy!

So when all the evidence points to you and you say that it wasn’t you we are just suppose to believe you, but when all the evidence is made up by you and you accuse Roosevelt Skerrit and he says it’s not true, you asking us not to believe him. Double standards.

there is a difference between a spontaneous protest or demonstration which must adhere to different rules under the constitution and a planned march or demonstration for which you sought permission. You were given specific start and end times for your event, but you broke the law firstly when you said on the microphone and I quote: “No police or authority can tell us when we should end”. Secondly, when you fail to bring the meeting to a close and thirdly when you left the meeting while your supporters were still assembled.
So yes Mr. Linton you are responsible. I know you know the law, well I assume that you do and ignorance to the law is no excuse.

Any dumb can see the hypocrisy and double standard of the Labour party.
If only they had meant anything good, they would not have encouraged their cronies to wear red as a mark of defiance to those attending the planned meeting.
Secondly, they made no effort at discouraging their same cronies from interfering with the planned meeting. This was a set up.
    My heart bleeds over Dominica.

I take it that you are serious? the Leader said that the meeting went well and had finished when the trouble started. He said nothing about the labour cronies who although dressed in red were standing quietly taking in the scene.

I guess you did not hear the leader saying that Carbon the Commissioner had no legal authority to determine when their meeting should stop and they are not little children to respond to Carbon’s illegal instructions to stop at three and don’t obey any illegal instructions from Carbon?

I guess you also did not hear the meeting continue until four thirty or so, over one hour after the authorised time? I guess you did not notice the restraint of the police in not enforcing the agreed time for stoppage, now in retrospect I realise it was to prevent the very events that happened later. I also guess you did not notice the “targetted” vandalism?

I guess you also did not notice that the leaders were no where around to get hurt in any riot?

Is Lennox kidding??? He’s given Dominica a very bad name. He has proven that he’s NOT PM material. The image of the fire and general hoodlumism was plastered all over the world. Shame on Linton!!

You want to figure out how you got to this? Your party agreed to end demonstration at 3 O’clock…that’s when you decided to come back on and talk going way past 5. Causing mayhem and showing your followers that they don’t need to obey the law. . I have never voted, but as a young lady deciding which party I should vote for, based on your actions and clear hunger for power, you will NEVER get my vote.

Your sentiments are shared. Dominica has been transformed into a cesspool of antagonism, disrespect, hatred, envy, malice, jealousy, unkindness, bad-mouthing, cynicism all in the quest to discredit one man – Deservedly or undeservedly depending on personal perspective.

I keep wondering whether the destruction of a country and society is a reasonable price to pay to bring down one man!

If the perpetrators are caught, they should be dealt with under the rule of law and I hope regardless of party affiliation they do not dare to think for one minute that they are being politically victimised.

Thank you Mr Linton,,,,you are right we need to all come together and figure a way forward. This is not the time to cast stones or point fingers,,,not when the country Needs everyone to come together… We will rise again Dominica..We will rise. Your weeping may endure for a night,,,but joy will surely come in the morning…..God bless our Island….

UWP must be very Happy! SMDH. Politicians must be held responsible for inputting these ideas into the minds of their weaker followers.
Its not your doing you said? Had it not been for this gathering and your message would this have happened?
