The Rotaract Club of Roseau, Dominica’s most vibrant service organization is preparing to host close to 150 members from the region for the district 7030 conference, from June 10 to 13, 2011.
The conference which was first hosted by Dominica 22 years ago will bring together Rotaractors from Suriname in the South to St. Kitts and Nevis in the Nothern Caribbean.
“We are very pleased to be hosting this special event here in Dominica after such a long time,” Conference chairperson Zilma Charles said.
The conference will be a mixture of meetings, community service projects and fellowship activities for participants.
It will also include and opening ceremony on June 10th and a closing/ prize giving ceremony on June 13th.
Preparations began last year after the Rotaract Club of Roseau entered a successful bib to stage the event. Since then preparations have been in high gear with several key areas already fine tuned.
Rotaract is partnering with its parent club Rotaray and several other business interest in Dominica to stage the event this Pentecost weekend. Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true “partners in service” and key members of the family of Rotary.
As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 8,400 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
Major partners include: LIME, the Easter Caribbean Securities Exchange, Ross University, SAT Telecommunications and the Fort Young Hotel.
