Rotary Club of Portsmouth helps local fisherman get back to work

On December 27th, members of the Rotary Club of Portsmouth presented newly constructed fish pots to local fishermen.

The fish pots, made by Nicholas King were paid for by the Rotary Club’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Portsmouth area fisherman who lost their fish pots during Hurricane Maria received the much-needed replacements.

The recipients included Crispin Mitchell, Jack Harney, Elvius Mitchell, Albermathie Achie, Patrick Prince, Tommy Hector, Mathew Gilbert and Delphine Peter.

The Rotary Club of Portsmouth intends to continue its efforts to help local fisherman regain their livelihood and bring much-needed fish to market.

The next programmed distribution will help the joint fishing communities of Dublanc and Bioche.

My take in it is, everything is not political. Maybe the Rotary club just had hought that they could help in that area. We are way to quick to make things into a political something. Good job Rotary club.

So those fishermen couldnt go and make their own pots then? Someone had to come in 4 months after the hurricane and do it for them? Chicken wire and pieces of wood that there. Where is the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in this? I would hate to think that fishermen just sitting back waiting for pots to magically fall out of the sky. they dont want to work to feed their families and communities? where is the pride people? Good job rotary club but i firmly believe that the fishermen in portsmouth could have made their own pots if they were serious.

So the Rotary Club had to step in to get these fishermen going again. Great job!!!
However, this begs the question why these fishermen needed the help of the RC in the first place. Where they overlooked by Mr. Drigo when he distributed the World Bank grants to farmers and fisherman? Why were they overlooked? As with everything this administration is involved in, there is always more questions than answers. I myself hazard a guess and say these guys are just supporters of the wrong political party.
