Sunday 11th December, 2016, was no ordinary day for the members of the St. Mary’s Academy 4H Club.
Guided by the four pillars – head, heart, hands and health- the club members as well as other students of the SMA made generous donations of non-perishable food items, as well as various school supplies with the aim of reaching out to those in need within our communities.
The decision was taken to offer a hamper of food items to CHANCES in Jimmit, school supplies to the Coulibistrie Gospel Mission Pre-School and supplies to the Red Cross
To make the day even more meaningful, the club members, together with their leaders and family members, worshipped with the congregation at the Coulibistrie Gospel Mission Church following which they assembled for a social gatherinig at the Mero Beach.
The day ended with their donation to CHANCES.
The donation to the Red Cross was delivered last Friday.
The idea of donating the supplies was conceptualized by the group and got assistance from the members of the club and Jays Ltd.
The President of the St. Mary’s Academy 4H Club, Tyreese Francess, said the efforts placed on the initiative by the student were remarkable.
“It goes a long way in saying how caring that they can be for their fellow human beings,” he said. “As a collective effort, we were able to a mass number of can foods and other dry goods which will go a long way towards ensuring that the children at CHANCES have food to eat.”
He thanked all the students, teachers and parents, who came on board especially the Principal.
“As human beings, we have a moral responsibility not just to our self but to others,” Francess said.
The St. Mary’s Academy 4H Club has been making great strides in developing students who understand and appreciate the idea of team work and community building. Their participation in many competitions, community outreach, and skills training activities not only locally, but regionally and internationally as well, has stamped the club’s motto: To Make the Best Better on hearts of the students.

Good job boys! Stay positive.
Organizations that reach out to serve are made up of individuals who care. Those who need help will always be there. But our opportunity to serve them will not last for ever.
Sharing with others not only blesses the recipients. The benefit of what is given returns many times over to the givers.
It is heartening to see such organizations fulfilling their mandated purpose. But to see them working together is to see the kingdom of God
God bless you every one.
Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.
Congratulations! May God bless you guys
