His Excellency Crispin Sorhaindo, former President of Dominica, will be given a state funeral on Monday, January 18, 2010. The Dominican Flag is being flown at half staff on all public buildings in the State until Monday, January 18, 2010.
Mr. Crispin Sorhaindo served as President of Dominica, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Vice President and Director of the Caribbean Development Bank, Financial Secretary of Dominica and Clerk of the Executive and Legislative Councils.
For his services to the state, Mr. Sorhaindo was awarded the Dominica Award of Honour (D.A.H) Dominica’s highest state award, Order of the British Empire (OBE) and the Venezuelan Naval Medal Almirante Luis Brion.
In recognition of his significant contribution to the Roman Catholic Church in Dominica in various capacities, Mr. Sorhaindo received the Papal Award of Knight Commander of the Order of St. Sylvester in 1993.
Official Mourners at the State Funeral Service shall include His Excellency, the President and Mrs. Liverpool, the Prime Minister and other Members of Cabinet, the Honourable Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly, former Presidents and Prime Ministers and other Government Officials.
Public viewing of the body shall be from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fair Haven Cathedral, Roseau on Monday, January 18, 2010. The State Funeral Service will commence at 3:30 p.m. All Official Mourners are kindly requested to be in their seats no later than 3.15 p.m.
The late Crispin A. Sorhaindo will have a private burial.

I was just telling my dad today (he is in Mr. Sorhaindo’s age group) that all our prominent people are aging and dying. Do we have young people with the sam integrety to replace them? I wonder.
i sorry to hear that we have lost a good leader my heart go out to all people from Dominica i guess no night landing at Melville hall on Monday.
