Trinidadian involved in Syria beheading – news report

Destruction in the ongoing Syrian war
Destruction in the ongoing Syrian war

The devastating civil war in Syria appears to have crept close to us in the Caribbean with a man speaking in a distinct Trinidadian accent being caught on tape in the beheading of a Syrian citizen a few months ago.

The video was uploaded to the internet.

Recently Trinidadian TV station TV 6 ran an exclusive story entitled “Jihadist among us” which reported Trinidadians might be part of the anti government movement in Syria.

The story reported on certain men from the island who may have gone to Syria to fight.

The video, which was uploaded to the internet, was sent to the relative of a man suspected of going to Syria, who said she is more than 90 percent sure it is him.

The Syrian civil war began in 2011 with over 191,000 killed in the conflict, according to the UN.

Muslims form about eight percent of Trinidad’s population and are mostly of East Indian descent, according to caribbeanmuslims.com.

Why does Syrian men come to Trinidad ? are they good or bad people to get involved or associate with ?

There are good and bad people in every race, religion and ethnicity, so to say that all Muslims harbour the thought of them being superior is wrong. If one is convicted in his or her faith i cannot see any brainwashing or propaganda swaying you from thus. however its a terrible thought to digest that Caribbean people can become so warped and callous and allow money to lead them into destruction, because as far as i understand the ISIS regime is paying handsomely for soldiers.

Recently, as heard through the Media one young Muslim who resided in Canada died in Iraq. He was one of those who went to fight with his counterparts. Some of them are recruited by those terrorists. It is not the first time they traveled to those countries to fight with them.
These people do not know what is good for them. Such people should not be residing in a democratic world. Why live in a country and hate it and hate those who are not of the same belief? They should get out if they hate the country and live with those who brainwash them.
This Trinidadian is a traitor to his country and to the democratic world. If he returns to T & T, he should be arrested. Know that he is already branded and they will be on the look-out for him if or when he arrives in Trinidad.

    Good luck to them…

I recall hearing on a comedy show, “Search for tomorrow…as the world turns.” I have not forgotten it. Whenever I remember it or repeat it, it makes me laugh.

You do not have to fear but you must be concerned about what is occurring in our world. It is pathetic that people take it upon themselves to go out of their way to harm others. They forget that one day they will die and will meet with God for their eternal judgment. On that day they will regret what they have done but will not be able to make amends. It will be too late for them for all eternity.

We the people of Dominica have a responsible to keep a watchful eye on the Muslim community they are not to be trusted.

They infiltrate the world and think it belongs to them and them alone. They are troublemakers who plot to kill those who do not practice Islam. From what is occurring, those who trust them make grave errors. In any case I do not know why they are in Dominica; why they feel they should study in Dominica or in the West Indies/Caribbean for that matter. It baffles me.
ISIS said it will attack America. They said: “We are coming for you.” We in Canada have reasons to be concerned for there are many of them in Canada. We must consider that with such people living among us who are relatively peaceful, our lives could be in jeopardy.
Those who want to feel compassionate towards those people I am not and never will. I handle them with a ten foot pole.

      SUPER STOCKHOLM SYNDROME:

(Psychology) a psychological condition in which hostages or kidnap victims become sympathetic towards their captors…

EUROPEAN FLESH ARE OF GREATER VALUE THAN BLACK FLESH AND PEOPLE OF COLOR..

IN RESPONSE TO JAY …YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY…BLACK PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING FROM SUPER STOCKHOLM SYNDROME.. BLACK PEOPLE GET MAD WHEN YOU EXPOSE THE EVIL OF WHITE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL IN LOVE THE SLAVE MASTER AND HAVE NOT LEFT THE PLANTATION. WHEN WHITE PEOPLE CRY BLACK PEOPLE CRY FOR THEM AND DRY THEIR TEARS.. WHEN THE MASTER HURT BLACK PEOPLE FEEL HIS PAIN AND THEY WILL PROTECT THE MASTER BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY…

      POST TRAUMATIC SLAVERY DISORDER/SYNDROME

PTSS is an explanatory theory which posits that centuries of slavery in the United States, followed by systemic and structural racism and oppression, have resulted in multi-generational maladaptive behaviors, which originated as survival strategies. The syndrome continues because children whose parents suffer from PTSS will often be indoctrinated into the same behaviors, long after the behaviors have lost their contextual effectiveness.

Are you sane? I do not think you know what you have stated. Are you residing in the world? So you place everyone in one category and assuming that this is how they feel? You are not a smart person. Speak for yourself.

You have heard what those evil people have done and continue to do and you have the nerve to call people brainwashed and fools?
You are the one who is a fool and brainwashed. You could not be on the side of living at peace with others, on the side of justice and preserving lives. What good are you to the democratic world? You should not be residing in a democratic world. Why do you not go to join them, your counterparts and leave the democratic world? We only want peace lovers and peace makers in our democratic world. A person as you should be driven out of the democratic world and into exile with your wicked friends whom you stand up for and support. Your day is coming and soon enough.

Those that choose to be closer to God is causing the most HAVOC in this world. SO MOTE IT BE!

    • The Facts
      September 3, 2014

Who are those you are talking about? Those who cause havoc in the world are not closer to God than those who do not create havoc. They are not one bit close to God. They are deceiving themselves if they think they are closer to God.
Our God is a God of peace who has taught us to “Strive for peace with everyone” and if we do not practice peace to our fellow people, wherever we reside and travel to, we will never have peace and live in peace on earth and will never see him and live with him for all eternity.

As despicable as these beheadings and images of graphic violence are, the wrong response is to initiate an atmosphere of panic and suspicion against Muslims in Trinidad (or the wider Caribbean, or wherever in the diaspora we might be). The problems here are dangerous ideologies like Islamism (politicised Islam) and general grievances against nations or institutions that allow vulnerable youth to be recruited into terrorist activities. Islam itself is not the primary problem, and most Muslims, like most Christians, are moderate, fairly decent persons who will not be involved in terrorism.

I am no supporter of religion in general and have little but negative to say about such belief in fairytales, but the fact is that it is politicised Islam, a specific modification of the religion, that is often to blame here, not Islam by itself.

Excuse me but the Muslims of Trinidad have shown their violent nature prior to this. How can anyone forget the attempted coup d’état which they staged on July 27 1990 led by Yasin Abu Bakr and Bilaal Abdullah when they shot the then Prime Minister ANR Robinson in the process. I don’t like to generalize but a few Muslims have given me good reason to be mistrusting of the whole lot.

Would you use the same RULER to measure the atrocities committed by SOME Christians and other faith based institutions/organizations?

Your opinion does not reflect especially one religious person’s opinion. When you die you will see your error – too late. You will then see that religion is no fairy tale and wished you were not so foolish to reject it.
What have you to live for? Religious folks, if they practice their faith as they should, are happier than you are. One day, in the presence of God, they will be happier yet. It is worth striving for while God gives us the time. Religious folks know this too well.

Why should we be surprised? Destruction is but a click of a mouse. S.O.S. we are always and must have our eyes, nose, mouth, Brains”. open to suspicious behavior, and activities a chain is as strong as it weakest link, regardless how small, or big we are or as we say in D/A its not our business to be at the ready. That’s my friends is thinking with our heads between our # …s it only takes one # …hole to create or start trouble and as evidence to all of us we are to be vigilant at all times. For my Dominican friends there`s a difference between being “Paranoid”. and being the eyes and ears of each other. We cannot take anything for granted. That’s the sad and sicken society we live in today and no one is speared of the sign of the coming of the last days as written in the book of revelations .
