Tropical Storm Danny forms in Atlantic; expected to strengthen

Tropical Storm Danny has formed in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to strengthen in the next two days.

The storm formed on Tuesday afternoon.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said on Tuesday the storm was located 1,595 miles east of the Windward Islands.

Maximum sustained winds are at 40 mph and Danny is moving west at 12 mph.

Tropical storm-force winds extended outward up to 45 miles from the center.

The storm is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by Thursday and reach Category 2 strength, with 100 mph winds, as it approaches the eastern edge of the Caribbean Sea.

DNO is following this weather system and will provide information as it becomes available.

    August, look out you must.
    Hope it will not strengthen into a hurricane; also that, be it a storm, it will bypass D/ca.
    By now, Dominicans know how to prepare while praying it will not affect the country.

      Do you remember in previous years hurricanes/storms were given women’s names? In fairness to all, it was decided that they should also be given names of men.
