A tropical storm watch has been issued for Dominica as an area of low pressure located about 810 miles east of the Windward Islands is now a tropical depression.
According to the Met Office the depression is moving towards the west north west near 18 mph with maximum sustained winds near 35 mph.
Some strengthening is forecasted and the depression could become a tropical storm by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
On the forecast track, this system is expected near Dominica by late Friday into Saturday.
Dominicans are asked to keep a close eye on this weather system and begin to take precautionary measures in preparation for its arrival.
Dominica News Online will publish information as it becomes available.

ah yes. the usual DNO prayer
There are plenty of places on earth that hurricanes never strike because they are far inland and far from the tropics. There are plenty of places on earth that hurricanes often strike, again just because of where they exist, not because of whether the people there deserve protection or not. Or is Haiti full of people who deserve to be hit by hurricane after hurricane, earthquake after earthquake? If all the people of Haiti and Dominica traded islands, Haiti would continue to be harder and more frequently than Dominica.
The storm is coming to blow away the black sigatoka.
a depreeion so why they keep saying tropical storm watch?
It’s expected to be a tropical storm by the time it starts to affect Dominica
Praying this doesn’t further strengthen and passes the islands especially Dominica straight.
I am asking God to guide and protect my people, and ask for this storm to pass over………
may God continue to watch over the carribean islands
It is now at 35mph,but it may strengthen as hours go by. just want we dominicans to be prepared for whatever may occur. our country is blessed as we all know. we will be covered by our protector.have faith.
