A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Dominica and portions of the Lesser Antilles.
A Tropical Storm Watch means that Tropical Storm conditions are POSSIBLE within the WATCH area, in this case 24 to 48 hours.
At 5:00 PM the center of Tropical Depression SEVEN was located near Latitude 13.7 North…Longitude 51.9 West or about 630 miles east south-east of Dominica. The depression is moving toward the west near 24 MPH and this general motion is expected to continue through Sunday.
On the forecast track, the center of the cyclone will be near the central Lesser Antilles on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 35 MPH with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible over the next day or so and the depression could become a tropical storm before reaching the Lesser Antilles.
Regardless of development, this system has the potential to generate significant showers, scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds across Dominica.
Residents should continue to monitor the progress of the system and should you have to move around do so with caution.
