Trump pulling U.S. out of Paris climate deal

Foreign Minister Baron with former UN chief Ban Ki-moon after Dominica ratified the Paris agreement

President Donald Trump will follow through on a campaign pledge to pull the United States out of a global pact to fight climate change, a source briefed on the decision told Reuters, a move that should rally his support base at home while deepening a rift with U.S. allies.

Trump, who has previously called global warming a hoax,

did not confirm the decision in a post on Twitter, saying only, “I will be announcing my decision on the Paris Accord over the next few days.”

Trump had refused to endorse the landmark climate change accord at a summit of the G7 group of wealthy nations on Saturday, saying he needed more time to decide. He then tweeted that he would make an announcement this week.

This is premature news. Trump has not anounced that yet. I don’t think he will exit. Trump is enjoying the attention he gets when he makes those dumb declaration, goes through all this hurrah then comes with some stupid excuse why he changed his mind. It would be a stupid move based on nothing substantial.

There were premature stories on both sides designed to pressure Mr. Trump in their direction. He has now pulled the US out of the “accord,” offering the fig leaf of willingness to renegotiate it so that it serves the interests of the US. Some on the right counseled that a better (and more lawsuit-proof) option would have been to simply submit the “accord” to the US Senate as a treaty (again, the Senate would never approve it). The biggest argument for Paris was the large number of nations that voted to bleed the US, but that is no argument for having the US agree to bleed itself.

As an American, Trump fills me with shame. He is ham-fisted. But both our political parties and our political system itself are corrupt and beholden to big donor influence.

Climate change is a hoax. Climate manipulation is real – check out ‘chemtrails’, ‘geoengineering’, ‘weather warfare’ on Google. Look at what the American, Russian, Chinese, Canadian, British governments are using aircraft to spray the world with – toxic and climate-amending gases – CHEMTRAILS!!!

The evidence is there – no conspiracy theories about this anymore. Wake up, spread the wordl. The idea of the climate change hoax is to bring in a one world government which will decide who gets what of the world’s resources and who, in the end, gets to live, or die (most of us, less of them!!).

Well, it looks like that Trump fellow putting two fingers up to the world. Is America first he saying. Does he know that the rest of the world can work together and live without America? What does America export anyway? Nobody in Europe really wants to buy their cars because they are inferior and they can buy their oil, gas, steel and so on elsewhere. Trump is isolating America, cutting social services so he and his family can pay less tax. Such a pity. America was founded by people, who wanted to escape poverty and make a new free live in America but now Trump, a grandson of a German immigrant himself wants to hijack it for himself. If that is what American people want , good luck but the rest of the world can get on without him.

“What does America export anyway?” This comment reflects ignorance, like the comment that Mr. Trump must only believe what he says he believes out of a greedy desire to lower his own taxes. What does America export? Most of the machinery Dominica uses to harvest its food. American cars are half as good, but sell for one-third the price. America has a “trade deficit” that Mr. Trump worries about too much, but the dollars flow back to America by way of investment. What does America export? Good management and a safe place to put your wealth.

During Mr. Obama’s “I have a pen and a phone” phase, he imagined that failure to get proposals through the Congress gave him new powers to just do it. The climate-change “pact” has the impact of a treaty but Mr. Obama knew he would not get a 2/3 Senate vote for a treaty that cripples his country but requires nothing of China and India until 2030. Mr. Trump sold himself as a repudiation of Mr. Obama. This will be a test. Reuters floats this story prematurely to try to manipulate Mr. Trump.
