Trump to reverse Obama’s Cuba policy

President Donald Trump plans on reversing a set of policies softening relations with Cuba, according to a report from The Daily Caller.

According to the report, the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council, an anti-embargo group, said the Trump administration was preparing to announce the changes to Obama-era policies in a June speech in Miami.

The report cites two unnamed sources who say that a bipartisan trio of senators — Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) — pushed for the reversal.

Obama, who became the first U.S. president to visit Cuba in almost a century last year, put in motion a series of policies to thaw relations with the Communist island nation, which had been a strategic burden throughout the Cold War.

If he is so against Cuba why does he not close Guantanamo Bay? Anyway, is not the U.S.A. Cuba is relying on. A lot of people, especially from Europe going to Cuba on vacation, flying there direct and spending U.S. Dollars. They are also doing business with them and investing with no restrictions. Trump is just cutting his nose to spite his face and the American people are the losers.

The naval base at Guantanamo is on the island of Cuba but it has been controlled by the US since 1898. The only people who think Guantanamo is an issue are people with Coexist bumper stickers who say that having indefinite detention there for jihadists is a “recruiting tool.” And Mr. Trump is not responsible for how Europeans spend “his” currency. Some of his policies (tariffs and a border wall) are not the best for the US but all qualify as keeping his campaign promises.

Maybe the Cubans refused him permission to build another ‘Trump Plaza’ in Havana.

We should expect the unexpected – We had a Catholic Pope resign, soon we’ll have a President resign. Trump thought that being President and running the Country was equal to running a “Crash-ino.”

The Daily Caller is a website of the US political right. This report might be wishful thinking. US policy for decades was to embargo Cuba and wait until Castro dies. Whoops, until both Castro brothers die, as though when the office of dictator becomes vacant, no one else will try to fill it. All the US got was blamed for the poverty of dictatorship. Mr. Obama’s policy was to appease misconduct worldwide so that everyone could see that he was not George W. Bush. US foreign aid given to reach out to the Cuban people went straight to the dictator. This didn’t work, but neither did building a cocoon around the island and hoping a butterfly would somehow emerge.

Trump’s vision of America is out-dated,zenophobic, ethnocentric and ignorant.
He is fooling himself if he thinks that he will hurt Cuba by tightening up the sanctions again.
Cuba is on the cutting edge of modern medicine and as a matter of fact has made amazing discoveries in the cures of certain diseases such as lung cancer.
So let him go ahead and play his idiotic games. Other countries are too willing to partner with Cuba and learn from them.
This is a country that has endured and survived in spite of 30+ years of a U.S. embargo. So don’t think that Cuba will buckle to its knees if Trump reverses the policies.
And I have never been to Cuba, I have no relatives who have benefited from free study or medical treatments there, so I have nothing to gain by my statement.

That bigot will try to undo everything Obama did. Give him a chance he would pass an executive order erasing Obama’s name on the records as president. Two faced egomaniac.

      Agree
Just go back to 2008 remember the passport issue. Or even 1989 when the young black men in New York was accused of raping a woman. Remember what he said then. It’s on record.
