Trump wants to use Executive Order to end Birthright Citizenship

US President Donald Tump

President Trump said he was preparing an executive order to end birthright citizenship in the United States, his latest attention-grabbing maneuver days before midterm congressional elections, during which he has sought to activate his base by vowing to clamp down on immigrants and immigration.

“We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years, with all of those benefits,” Mr. Trump told Axios during an interview that was released in part on Tuesday. “It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous. And it has to end.”

In fact, dozens of other countries, including Canada, Mexico and many others in the Western Hemisphere, grant automatic birthright citizenship, according to a study by the Center for Immigration Studies, an organization that supports restricting immigration and whose work Mr. Trump’s advisers often cite.

Hello and good evening my people. Well stable genius where are you going to say the children born. If your immigration authorities allow people to come into your country when they already pregnant and have their baby then its on you.
Also stable genius so why do you have so many pregnant Russians in your hotel in Tampa,Florida ,just look by your hotel pool. How the Republican Party is going to recover from this stable genius.

As I said Trump is not a politician he is not in the pc business, but he knows how to use the fake news media, because anything he says they will in unison come after him like a dog chasing its tail.
So he purposely make certain statement, knowing without him they will go out of business.
I am glad all of a sudden everyone is concerned about following the constitution and the role of the Congress. But I hope no one is suffering with amnesia.because Obama with DACA he told them “I cannot give you the right to remain in the U.S only Congress can.” In an other occasion he said “I am not a king” again he said”I am not an emperor again only Congress can give you this right.”….And yet as politician he did it through executive order and this order will end soon after leaving office……those speaking against Trump were all dumb then

Trump is one politician (although he is not) who made promises and who is doing his best to keep them. When the constitution says those who are born in the U.S are automatically U.S. citizens, has nothing to do with an eight month. Pregnant woman from Mexico crossing the border end up at a hospital, and the doctor or nurse asking her to push, and lo and behold. this child is a U.S citizen.
This “birth right” only had to do with the blacks, the slaves were not considered full human beings. After the abolition of slavery by Abraham Lincoln…a Republican….some states especially in the South controled by democrats said yes no more slavery but we will not grant them citizenship. So there was an amendment saying all those born in the U.S.are citizens.but not applicable to a pregnant visitor.
Although it’s accepted but the supreme court has never ruled on tne issue.

    • November 1, 2018

You make absolutely no sense ..It does not matter how many months the women is carrying that baby what ever country that she puts down that child,,,the child becomes a citizen of that country,,,the story is straight foward…

        @Chris Mann
No it is not “straightforward” which is why I believe Trump will win if he takes this to the supreme court. The amendment specifies “…and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” which is why the children of diplomats, invaders or POWs cannot be considered for citizenship. It is only because illegal immigration wasn’t such a big issue that there hasn’t been firm precedent on what that means save for one case which many constitutional scholars admit was an erroneous decision.

J.john-Charles is right the original purpose of the amendment was for blacks to be able to claim citizenship rights after slavery was abolished. It was never meant to be this loophole that people DELIBERATELY take advantage of to get US citizenship for their ANCHOR BABIES.

        They already do…..

$500,000 USD or $1,000,000 depending on where the person resides.
The lesser amount is if the foreigner moves to a rural area.

It’s called the EB-5 programme and has been successful.
There has also been issues with how they vet applicants.

Is not Skerrit alone that have his children born in the U S ok because i know of this lady she have 4 children and all of them was born in the U S. Trump does not hold the future in his hands and empty barrel make the most noise. Jehovah God gives and he takes he set up Kings and he put down Kings. And to all who is saying Trump have a right to do such is because you all wish you all had the opportunity to go in the U S to have you all children born there. And by the way Trump parents are were iligal immigrants too. So tell him to short the hell up and allow others to enjoy a piece of the pie too. This world is not ours Jehovah says to occupy until he comes ok.

Trump forgets that the vast majority of U.S. citizens are descendants of immigrants from all over the world. He himself is a third generation German. This is what makes America unique and, dare I say it, great. He is a threat to that great legacy and makes a mockery of that hallowed claim that America is the and of the free.

Since we looking to the past to determine present day policy maybe we should bring back slavery too? I mean some of those “immigrants” were conquerors who eliminated native americans or is that going to far back in history? smh

The US has not been under Constitutional jurisdiction since 1933 when Roosevelt declared the Emergency Banking act and put the US under Martial Law.The Constitution was suspended and has not been reinstated by any sitting President since. It is renewed yearly by the sitting President because the people and the children in the schools are not told or taught the truth. The whole system is a sham and the players keep playing like there is a Constitution and the people have rights. They lost all of that in 1933. What the US does have is a Corporate government and has had that since 1873 when it was declared bankrupt after the Civil War and there was no more United States and the bankers initiated incorporating it as a corporation. So Trump or whomever can write as many Executive Orders as they want and declare them the law of the land because the Congress has no real designated power. What a dirty trick has been played on the public who have no inkling of the real truth.

That would be in violation of tbe US constitution and would get tangle up in all kinds of law suits. If all fails and it goes through the next President can reverse by executive order. That man is tbe mark of the beast in every sense of the word. Hatred lies. I thought our PM lied but lord have mercy!!!!! Trump making skerrit look like a Chinese figer sucking dirty diaper toddler.

@Shaka Zulu – Stop mixing up Trump name with dat man called Skerrit eh. Trump’s first allegiance is to America (nothing wrong here) – America First ideology.

It’s a pity that in Dominica, the person in charge seems to be following a “Foreigners First; Dominicans one-after-last-in-their-own-country” ideology.

Huh so when people commit visa fraud by stating the purpose of their visit as “vacation” when their real intention is to birth their children there to take advantage of a loophole in an amendment to the constitution that is not a violation? Trump is completely right in doing this. You can’t have it both ways. I am sure you disagree with the prime minister taking advantage of this loop hole to give american citizenship to his children so why should anybody else be able to do the same thing?

      • Shaka Zulu
        October 31, 2018

Thats not tbe point. The constitution clearly states once you born there you are a citizen. It does not address citizenship status of parents. Trump and his bigotry enablers are trying this because they said the supreme court has not ruled on how that applies if the children are born to illegal immigrants. He is looking for every excuse to keep America white. Well if i were the native indians i would kick everyone out. Earth is meant for human inhabitants and if the whites could destroy the native Americans and now try to stop migration we should just get out in all out war. Blacks should kick every white out of africa and south Africa and every Chinese should be kick back to china. Clearly he is trying to force interpretation of the constitution which can only be amended by Congress. That decision will be stopped by a federal judge and will get wrapped up in courts and go nowhere. As for our PM. It is a shame to have your kids born in another country other than the one you lead.

      • Pragmatik
        November 1, 2018

@Shaka Zulu the Constitution says nothing about birth right citizenship. There is an ammendment (the 14th ammendment) that makes mention of that but it is not in any way clear which is why there is a good chance that Trump will win if he takes this to the supreme court. The 14th ammendment specifically states “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” after the born or naturalized part. That is the important bit. People who distort the truth like to take only the part that suits them. Look up the history of why that ammendment was put in place and tell me if it was intended for illegal immigrants and vacationers to use it as a way to gain citizenship for their anchor babies.

And what a typical nonsensical argument coming with the race bit. America is a diverse country and polls show that over 80% of the country are in favor of strong policy on immigration so yes that means there are blacks, hispanics, native americans, chinese americans etc who are in favor of immigration policy

The response you labour supporters gives tell why the PM comtinue to fool you people. Not sure you guys have brains in all you head to reason and comprehend anything. My original comment said nothing about skerrit kids. Did he do anything illegal having his kids born in US? No he did not. But it is a terrible idead as a pm who is trying to win votes on love for country. Lennox Linton kids went and get an education what is the parallel here? The pm feeds on the ignorance of people Like you and the only sentiments i have is sadness and pity for the level of stupidity. Painful.

    October 30, 2018

I’m sorry but this time I support Trump on this matter you know. If that became law politicians like Skerrit whose children are Americans because of birthright, would be more careful with the destruction of their country like Skerrit has destroyed Dominica, knowing that hey are not only destroying the country of our children but that of their children as well. Had that been the law Skerrit would not be selling our passports to known crooks, criminals and wanted fugitives and definitely he would not make Dominica a colony of China. So I am sorry for the rest whose children were born in the US but just for the sake of Dominica, I wish Trump would succeed

Oh my the way Lintons children born in the US and neither him or his wife lived in the US so they are basically Anchor babies. Whereas Melissa is a citizen long before she met Skerrit.

Trump has no idea how the US Government works, what about Congress, Congress is AWOL. Trump thinks he is a king. They need to give Trump night classes since he never sleeps anyway, on how the US Government works and make clear to him that the US is a Republic not a dictatorship and he is not a king yet. Never mind, Trump does not read or listen to anyone he is a stable genius.
