Twenty-one participants, attached to various organizations in Dominica, now have a better understanding of climate change and the implications for daily living within communities, following a course on Sustainable Development and Climate Change held at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus.

The programme, which was introduced for the first time in Dominica, ran from November 2015 to February 2016.

This inaugural programme was introduced in partnership with the Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Project (GEF SGP) to give participants an understanding of climate change and the implications for daily living within communities.

The group of participants who were recognized at a certificate ceremony held at the UWI Auditorium on Thursday participated in lectures and discussions on issues pertaining to climate change, the concept of sustainable development , governance mechanisms, health, tourism, water resources , agriculture and climate change , the vulnerability and risk of climate change effects and elements of adaptation.

“The UWI Open Campus believes that it is important for our people to understand the complexity of the social, environmental and economic issues that must be addressed if we are to achieve development that is sustained both from local and global perspectives,” Senior Administrative Assistant of the UWI Open Campus Dominica, Deanna Noel said while addressing the ceremony.

She congratulated the participants and encouraged them to apply the lessons learned in their respective areas and communities.

Course Participant Delia Cuffy- Weekes said the certificate of participation is more than just a certificate.

“Because all of us who are coming out from this class today, we are coming out better people because we understand better what climate change is, the impact that it is having on our lives,” she said. “We now know that there are actions that we can take at the individual level, at the family level, at the community level, at the country level, at the world level. I am hoping that based on those final projects that we submitted, that they will not just be projects…some of those projects can be put on display.”

The second Sustainable Development and Climate Change Programme is scheduled to run from March 14, 2016, to May 7, 2016.

Registration will begin on Monday, February 29, 2016. Persons interested in the programme may register online via www.open.uwi.edu/dominica or visit the campus site on Elmshall Road.

The course was facilitated by Dr. Camille David.

Don’t believe this climate change/ global warming rubbish. The pushers of this propaganda want to us to help them destroy us by using this hoax.

You want to know who is really behind non-natural climate pollution and engineering, read up on Chemtrails; geo-engineering; Club of Rome; Agenda21; Committee of 300, HAARP and things will begin to come clear to you.

By nature, the earth is not warming, the oceans are not rising. However, our climate is being geo-engineered by the servants of Satan who can now create earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes at will. Do not follow their evil propaganda.
