Bridgetown, Barbados Friday, April 15, 2011 – The United States Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean is responding to the calls of the nearly 11,000 fans of its Facebook page.
With the busy summer travel season approaching, the Embassy will launch two official discussion threads on its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/USEmbassyBarbados) to respond to the scores of questions we receive on visa issues and American citizen services.
Starting Tuesday, April 19, people will be able to post their questions about visas and American citizen services in the two discussion threads which will be titled American Citizens Services Q&A and Visas Q&A. Consular officers will check the two threads on a regular basis to answer questions.
Consul General Eugene Sweeney said of the initiative, “We see these new discussion threads as a way to demystify the world of visas and passports via social media. Please check us out and feel free to ask us your questions about how to travel to the United States.”
The discussions will be launched with a live chat event on Tuesday, April 19, where Eastern Caribbean residents will be able to get real-time answers in the two discussion threads.
The live discussion will run from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm and two consular officers will participate and answer questions on American citizen services and the visa application process.
People wishing to participate must be signed up as fans of the Embassy’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/USEmbassyBarbados). The discussion will be opened from 12:00 noon on Tuesday so people can post their questions in advance.

why does the us embassy operating in Barbados ROB those poor people by not wanting to refund money that was paid to them more than once for the same service.My father was applying for a visa and could not figure out the application and miss and made a payment by credit card 2 times and now can’t find any one in customer service to talk too and the embassy did not return the money and I know they should have realize that the second payment was for the same and only one application
