An unresponsive plane from the US, that flew 1,400 miles, has crashed near Jamaica, according to reports.

The plane left Rochester, New York for Naples, Florida, but caught attention of US authorities when it failed to land.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had been trying to make contact with the aircraft since 10 o’clock on Friday morning but it failed to respond prompting the North American Aerospace Defense Command to scramble two fighter jets.

The jets broke off after the plane entered Cuban airspace.

According to reports, the pilots in the fighter jets could see the pilot slumped over the controls of the unresponsive plane.

The plane was said to be on autopilot.

Early Friday afternoon the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard reported that the plane, a Socata TBM-700, had crashed near Port Antonio, Jamaica.

Very sad. I heard this news. It was stated that the pilot and passenger are husband and wife. It was also stated that the plane may have ran out of oxygen. We will hear more about this.
