UPDATE: Randy Frederick resting after successful surgery

Randy after surgery

Family and friends of 19-year-old Randy Frederick have confirmed to Dominica News Online that he has successfully come out of surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados.

The procedure took place yesterday and lasted eight hours.

Frederick left Dominica last week and was subsequently admitted at the Barbados facility where doctors performed surgery to remove a tumor on his brain.

The cost of the surgery is BA$30,000 or approximately EC$40,500.

Family and friends said Randy is in high spirit and will be kept under continued observation by doctors. With the surgery now behind them the family, friends and supporters are now praying for a successful recovery while seeking to raise the additional fees for cost associated with it. Assistance has already come from the Ross University School of Medicine, the National Youth Council and other agencies.

Randy’s plight gained national attention since the tumor was discovered by doctors in March 2010. The tumor kept the teen in constant pain and doctors in Dominica recently decided emergency surgery was necessary.

Anyone interested in assisting should call 1-767-317-4944.

Or make contributions using the  account that  has been setup to deal with the expenses of the surgery at the National Bank of Dominica.

Elliot. Keep on trying. I have received text replies from the number. Interestingly, when I sent the first text last week, to indicate that I wanted to make a small contribution, Randy himself called from Barbados (I don’t know him though).

There is a bank account# listed on the article. I would definitely call the bank or the phone# to get the rest of the info because it is definitely incomplete for wire transfers. It does not list the beneficiary nor an address and other information which your bank always ask for.

Christ Himself took your (Randy’s) pain in his body on that tree and by His (Jesus’s) stripes you are totally and completely healed in the name of Jesus. I pray that the hands of Jesus will hold and direct the hands of the surgeons and every surgical decision will be made at his directive. I use the authority that I have through the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus to command your brain to function better after surgery than before you went in and you will forever declare his righteousness. Through your testimony, men will be drawn closer to him. This I pray in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen
