UWP welcomes the post Maria housing, energy and education initiatives of Clinton Foundation

Clinton is on a one-day visit to Dominica

Roseau, Dominica, February 6th, 2018 – The United Workers Party welcomes former US President Bill Clinton to Dominica and hopes that the February 6, 2018 visit will strengthen his resolve to ensure that funds for climate resilient reconstruction channeled through the Clinton Foundation will be equitably, efficiently and effectively used for the benefit of all the people of Dominica.

We applaud the Clinton Foundation’s plan to launch an “Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery and the initiatives in the housing, education and energy sectors announced for Dominica. We urge timely and complete delivery on these critical initiatives and fully expect that the alleged misfortunes of inadequate Clinton Foundation Spending of 2010 Earthquake recovery and reconstructions funds suffered by Haiti, will not surface in Dominica.

Mr. Clinton is well aware that there can be no climate resilient development of Dominica in the absence of resilient parliamentary governance in a resilient parliamentary democracy. We therefore ask the former US President to encourage the Roosevelt Skerrit administration to commit to inclusion, transparency and accountability in managing the affairs of state.

Mr. Clinton is hereby advised that to date, there are no reports to Parliament or to the people of Dominica on how funds donated by the world community after Hurricane Maria are been spent; and there are no policy measures for the transparent, non-political utilization of these funds in the climate resilient rebuilding of Dominica.

We have warned that persistence with this substandard governance conduct will make it increasingly difficult for Dominica to secure further assistance from a world community that rallied purposefully behind our cause in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

On the occasion of President Bill Clinton’s visit to Hurricane Maria affected areas and his discussions with the Constitutional leaders of Dominica excluding the Parliamentary Opposition, we warn again.

Lennox, You must stop that Hate, Jealousy and Greed. You are a NO, NO in the eyes and mind of Clinton. If you were recognized, Clinton would have asked for the Leader of the Opposition to part take in whatever transpired during his visit. Men of substance don’t deal with garbage.

As a leader in waiting you can’t ask non Dominicans to interfere in the internal affairs of your country. This is bad politics.

This workers calamity party, is something else about 08.30am this guys were on Q95 blasting off Mr Bill Clinton, and next thing i know about 14.00pm UWP saying we welcomes the Clinton foundation.how on earth could anyone else trust this guys, and want to know how funds donated by the world community it’s none of you all business. When prime minister Skerrit, was on a one man crusade to achieve something for Dominica, you idiots were laughing and calling Skerrit, names while you partying and begging for money in the U.S. Africa and the rest for your personal gain.

Problem is, some people see nothing wrong with these behaviour patterns, just as some self-serving Americans had seen nothing wrong with Trump’s behaviour and utterances. Mrs. Clinton was the worst thing out and all guns were blaring at her. I’m sure she must be having a good laugh now except for the fact that Americans tend to love their country.

I heard some things on Q95 about Clinton and it is as if Clinton is being tried again in our Dominican mauvais lang court for every misdeed that he committed two or three decades ago, all because he seems to be trying to garner some assistance for Dominica and other vulnerable countries.

For me that is a kind of illness, to call myself Domincan and even put myself up to potentially be head of government yet everybody who even appears to be doing something positive for Dominica must be taken down. The attacks must be even more ferocious if their action is likely to make the country or gov’t look good. Sick I say!

Some Dominicans have lost all sense of logic and that’s why the Island is suffering, freedom of speech is something that no one is allowed to have in Dominica and that’s the sad part of things

        Janj

If you want more freedom of speech than what is happening in this country I’m not sure where you live.

It is that freedom of speech that allows the statement upon which we are commenting; that is what allows people to talk from both sides of their mouths like the statement referenced above and for people like you and me to have differing interpretations of the behaviour of politicians and humans in general.

@ Janj, You must have been out of this world smoking cannabis lately, There are no such thing as freedom of speech anymore in real terms otherwise we all would be slandering making false and damaging statements about everyone on social media, UK government has talked to Facebook HQ in London about it or face a hefty fine.
