There is an old African saying that goes, “Many hands make work light”. Indeed this be the truth when Dominicans come together to embody this seemingly accurate proverb.
A few weeks ago Tropical Storm Erika hovered and cried so much over Dominica that it left Dominicans singing, “Erika Woy Yo Yo”… leaving the country in a serious state of despair, especially in the community of Coulibistrie.
Persons were also stating that though Erika was just a Tropical Storm, her effects were more powerful than that of The Mighty Hurricane David, a Category 5 Hurricane.
But as God would see it fit to remind us all of togetherness, Dominicans, from all over the island, descended upon Coulibistrie to aid in the relief and recovery efforts of this once beautiful Community.
There were also individuals and teams from Barbados, Martinique and a number of other countries, present on the grounds.
The Central Co-operative Credit Union Staff was also moved with compassion and ensured that they were present on the grounds to aid in the best way that they could. Also, many churches, from around the Island, came and stood by the principles for which they are guided by and that is to help their brothers and sisters in need.
The move of workmanship and unity fostered yet another calling of persons willing to do it yet again NEXT SATURDAY(the 26th). Therefore, all those who would like to join in their efforts and/or contributions in kind and facilities, or any way they can, can definitely do so.
See video below of relief efforts in Coulibstrie on September 19.

I am a Dominican living abroad and also a true Coulibistian . When i watched this vedio it brought back tears to my eyes to see Dominicans, fellow neighbouring countries coming together to help Dominica and Coulibistrie by extention. There are still good people out there in this corupt world. I want to say a big thank you to all those of you who are helping my country and my community Coulibistrie, may the good Lord bless all of you abundantly. Coulibistrie we will rise again, Dominica we will rise again. Peace.
So true Shabine. Thanks and praise to all who help our communities and country.
The good Lord speaks to us and we say that we are under the blood but continue to enjoy in the follies of Religion and Political division. He tells us to love thy neighbor as thy self and understand that our folks are suffering tremendously……..physiologically and emotionally.
While they suffer, some continue disobeying his guidance and call radio stations, playing politics about the relief efforts and distribution, untruths and half truths with little or no regard to our neighbors pain and well being…………..
Where is the love? The Unity? The togetherness and I am my brother’s keeper?
Do we not understand that he can roll all the Rocks and Bolders on us if we don’t fear HIM and continue with the evil works? When will we learn?
Coulibistrie strong
