Dominica’s Boiling Lake is among scores of sites worldwide nominated as one of the 8th Wonders of the world by virtualtourist.com.

Voting is now open to choose which one is the winner.

“Boiling Lake tests the endurance & determination of elite hikers who complete this trek. The hike to the Caribbean lake passes the volcanic activity of the Valley of Desolation & scenic Titou Gorge,” a short description of the lake reads on virtualtourist.com.

Dominicans are being encouraged to vote every day for the lake to beat the other competitors.

Voting ends on September 30.

Our current and previous government refused to allowed this boiling lake be number one in the world enough has not done to atract more visitors in our shores,if this was in a develop country it would have been number one,They used the nature island for an excuse is time to develop this country put things in place so visitors will be comfortable when they visit our country.

Someone sent me an email to that effect. I have already voted. I cannot vote again until Sunday. I certainly will everyday. I emailed the information to others.
Dominica’s Boiling Lake is unique. I hope it gets top rating.
Imagine a Boiling Lake! It is worth this Wonder. singing the praises of Dominica’s sceneries, I have bragged about this Lake  and stated the water is so hot an egg could be boiled in it. Time for breakfast or brunch?
It is a good thing we can vote more than once. I also sent it to some non-Dominican friends to vote.

Is it 7 wonders or “7 Natural wonders?” If it is natural wonders then D/ca should win hands down. Join me and early and often.

If Boiling Lake should win this, it would be good for our Tourist Industry.

People of Dominica let us put our Homeland on the Vacation map. We don’t have to change her name to do that. What we need to do is to keep her Landscape clean and inviting –especially her sceneries of attraction; as we the people maintain the attitude and conducts which will welcomes our visitors.

Have you voted for Boiling Lake? It is like one two three!

The voting page states that voting is from June 3 to September 30.Does that mean that the advanced votes prior to June 3 will not be counted. Please clarify as it is very confusing. June has not even begin yet.

I say to anybody who is visiting Dominica, if you do nothing else you must try and get to the boiling lake. I have done it once and would never do it again because I know how hard it is however It is beautiful like the island, untouched like the island and unspoilt. I will be back for the carnival 2014 (god willing) and I am looking for another hike to do……any suggestions???????

      May 31, 2013

because currently, there are 7 established wonders of the world. For decades, we have always known of 7 wonder of the world. I guess they are now looking for an 8th and it would be good if our Boiling Lake gets the nod to be one of the wonders of the world among wonders like the Great Wall of China and the leaning tower of Pisa

Because there are already seven named wonders. Try reading. Everyone has heard of the seven wonders.

I am from England and had heard about boiling lake from my cousin. she said it took her over 5 hours to get there. I was determined to try. It is a very hard hike but I managed to do it in 2 hours with some people from Salisbury Village. I have not met anyone else who has broken that record

Cool, but I think virtualtourist.com. should have a better picture of our boiling lake. there is too much green in the pic that they have. The one in this article is very good. Perhaps we could send it to them.

And please Dominicans vote. These are the things we should be shouting about. Especially those of us who have completed this trek. I for one have done it twice. It is an adventure worth having. So those who have not been there yet should plan to be.

May God continue to bless our land.

Con: Scary Landing at the airport.”

Why don’t we just advertise that its all part of the exhilarating experience?

But how come they saying it is for elite hikers when I remember doing it in high school and we just woke up and hiked to the lake. We must have been elite hikers without even realizing it.
