Zimbabwe’s President Mugabe ‘resigns’

Mugabe was President of Zimbabwe since 1980

Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has resigned, parliament speaker Jacob Mudenda has said.

A letter from Mr Mugabe said that the decision was voluntary and that he had made it to allow a smooth transfer of power, the Reuters news agency reports.

The surprise announcement halted an impeachment hearing that had begun against him.

Lawmakers roared in jubilation and people have begun celebrating in the streets.

Mr Mugabe had previously refused to resign despite last week’s military takeover and days of protests.

He has been in power since independence in 1980.

What I have to say about Mugabe is, at 93 years he should have stepped down a long time ago. I heard he wanted his 53 year old wife to be President.
At least there was no uprising and bloodshed in Zimbabwe. The radical Dominicans who love to protest should take note and learn from this.
I hope that the new president whom I understood was the fired deputy president will do a better job. You know, a new broom always sweeps clean for a while. We will hear more.

Allyou can say what allyou want But that’s how Dictators have to be dealt with when all seems to be at a loss, and those Dictators appear to want their administration to rule into perpetuity, and to make even their wives or children their successors,,,

Political discourse when the heads of state appear to not be listening to the Masses, calls for a show of force by the appropriate measures, and by any means necessary,,,

All these development in the political area still doesn’t give Dominicans a clue of how to handle Bizniss???

I am not holding my breath. Nothing has changed in Zimbabwe. The same brutal kleptocracy is still in power. The only difference facing the people is that their options have changed from being bitten by the mamba to being eaten by the crocodile. The outcome for dissent and opposition will still be the same, if not worse.

I predict just like the army took up positions on the streets of the Zimbabwean capital to remove this cancer Mugabe- so will the regional arm forces of the Caribbean be on the streets of Roseau to remove Skerrit and his gang in a few years-time will tell. They will be back in Roseau soon and not for hurricane relief…….

It is so refreshing to hear that this kleptocrap has finally given the people a chance.
Skerit, it’s your turn now. Do the right thing give Dominica a chance to succeed, you are an obstacle in the way. You have brought more hardship unto this country than all the natural disasters combined.
