Minister for Social Services Catherine Daniel has revealed that government has spent in excess of $6 million across the island in the form of displacement allowance and rental assistance.
She made that announcement during a conference of Seventh Day Adventists and the government which was held recently.
During that ceremony government handed over keys for 6 housing units in Plat Ma Pierre, Colihaut.
“We at Social Services, Family and Gender Affairs, our role in the entire situation was to ensure that our displaced households were taken care of and we came in support of all families across Dominica in the form of a displacement allowance and rental assistance, which we still continue to do,” she said.“We have spent last year in excess of $6 million for that purpose and that is why when you take care of your own when you take care of people when you shelter the homeless, you take care of the needy God will always bless you.”
She said the government will carry on that mandate to the best of their human capacity.
Madam, you should say 6 million dollars was wasted caring to assist displaced persons. The labour party always have a reputation of lavishness and elan.they have always thought they are the only government to have done any thing in Dominica.de
Labor working but not Catherine Daniel, She will never get my vote again. All she doing now act busy so she won’t speak to people. We gave her a chance thinking she different but she is not, and we only vote for the prime minister not her. Why Catherine don’t try to work with the young women in Bioche ,Dublanc and colihaut try helping them to find jobs as you promise.
was those monies coming from the Alison Madueke (technically burrowed) funds?
cost us more to build that new roseau bridge it seems.
Minister is participating in some level of social abuse, meaning that, this $6 million across the island in the form of displacement allowance and rental assistance may not be an activity that has long term sustainability where in addition these families and others who have received is part of an operational scheme where “handouts” continues to be distributed like the old corrupt Red Clinic bobol fiasco. The professionals involved in working with families, that is their home intervention, assessment they are without the necessary resources to assist, monitor and maintain contacts with these families that their circumstances are being addressed in a professional way.
Thank you for this very timely information Ms. Daniel. Since you seem to have so much information available, can you also give us the following information: 1. How much did the government of Dominica spend in housing Alireza Monfared during his 6 month stay on island, if any? 2. How much did Dominica receive from Monfared? 3. How much did Dominica spend to facilitate Alison -Diezani Madueke with her Dominica Diplomatic Passport, and how much did we receive from her in return if any? 4. How much did it cost Dominica for to facilitate PM Skerrit’s August 2015 trip to Macau, so he could be with Ng Lap Seng, two weeks before he and his friends were arrested and now convicted, in the US, and how much did Dominica get in return, if any?
Very Very Very PERTINENT QUESTIONS,but you will not get answers to these questions. The deceitful and deceptive captain of the corrupt ship will stutteringly tell you.”””Its None of Your Darn Business”””..
SKERRIT MUST GO
SKERRIT MUST GO
SKERRIT MUST GO NOW!
This is why I have full confidence in the leadership of Roosevelt Skerrit and the Dominican government. Doing right by your people.
doing the bare minimum isnt doing right. it is a step in the right direction. However several other steps could have also been made.
Thanks for the update Ms. Lady. We need to always have this information at hand, so we can hit the detractors with fact when they spew hogwash. Thank you.
The mandate is to improve the lives of all Dominicans. Not just some, but all of us. The government have been doing a spectacular at this. Homelessness is not a major issue here, because we have a caring government and a caring people. Praise the Lord for that!
Labour is working so every Dominican can have a fair chance. I know the people appreciate the assistance, especially those who were affected by the storms and the Christmas fires. Keep on working for the betterment of our people. Viva Skerrit and the Labour government! Viva!
