Grand Fond children receive Kiwanis Christmas cheer

The Kiwanis Club of Roseau has ended 2013 in a manner befitting of Christmas. Representatives of the club headed out to Grand Fond on Sunday December 15th, to bring cheer to forty children of that community. The club holds an annual Christmas party specifically targeted to young children. The kids are treated to a day of fun games, toys, as well as party treats and eats.

In addition to the toys and food, the club also donated clothes to needy members of the community, the third such donation of the year. Earlier in 2013, the club visited the villages of San Sauveur and Petite Savanne where they made similar donations.

The Children’s Christmas party brings to a close a busy year for Kiwanis of Roseau. Besides the annual debates, the club saw two induction ceremonies of twenty new members, participated in service activities such as the Roseau River clean up, Grotto and Children’s Ward visits, Church visits, pre-school reading days and puppet shows. The Kiwanians also partnered with other organizations such as the HIV Unit, DAPD, Sign Man, CashWHiz, Welfare Division — Child Abuse Unit, the Dental Community as well as the Joint Service Clubs.

When asked what propelled them towards so many ventures, the club’s response was that although giving can be hard work,  giving is its own reward!
