After the confirmation of the Zika virus in the Caribbean this week, Dr. C. James Hospedales the Executive Director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency is warning the virus will spread.

The CARPHA head says the Caribbean is very vulnerable to the dengue-like virus which is also spread by mosquitoes.

“It was expected that it was just a matter of time before it arrived into the Caribbean community,” Hospedales said. “This is so because we have abundant travel in and out of the region and we also expect that it is going to spread because the basic conditions have not changed, mosquitoes breathing in and around houses and we have a susceptible population. This is a virus like chikungunya that the population has not met before so there is widespread susceptibilities or lack or resistance and so we expect it to spread.”

TS Erika left many swamps throughout D/ca which mosquitoes breed in, in addition to airborne ones.
From time to time these things surface. Take care of yourselves fellow D/cans.
Should you be bitten by the mosquitoes, I am wondering if Calamine Lotion will help. I expect it is sold in D/ca. Ask your pharmacist about it.

Did you read the article properly? It said ‘CARRBEAN’ region, not just Dominica. If you paid attention to your geography teacher when you went to school you would know that the Caribbean is made up of a number of other islands apart from Dominica.

You are implying that you are not a bad person.
You are a human being and are not immune or exempted.
I suppose it starts with you. The pot always calls the kettle black. Look to your conscience.
