The Zika Virus is transmitted by the Aedes Egypti mosquito

The dreaded Zika Virus has been confirmed in Dominica.

The virus was confirmed by a laboratory test, the Minister of  Health, Dr. Kenneth Darroux said on Tuesday.

He said the patient does not have a history of traveling outside Dominica recently, hence, it was locally transmitted.

He also said the Ministry wishes to reassure the public that there is no need for alarm.

He noted also said the patient has since recovered well and is currently at home and all immediate contacts have so far deemed healthy.

“To date a total of 13 samples have been tested for Zika with only one being positive,” Dr. Darroux said.

Below is a video of Minister Darroux making the announcement.

Dominica was in the limelight yesterday and last night on a Toronto TV Station – CP24 and no doubt other TV and Radio Stations, pertaining to the virus in Dominica.

If the Zika was contracted locally, there had to be someone in Dominica carrying the virus, and bitten by the mosquito which then infected this new person. So, there are at least two people in Dominica with the virus

The great Zika hoax scam continues.

Don’t take the vaccine folks and keep away from the fumigating. Both are the inherent traps of the scam.

wait a minute… this mosquito is the same one that transmits dengue chikungunya and now zika right? i’m just trying to understand. so this means that zika was always here. cause this mosquito has been on the island cause we know that not too long we had lots of chikungunya cases here.i don’t understand this at all. this one type of mosquito that has been in existence for decades carries all these viruses and is only in this day and age decides to upgrade from dengue to chikungunya and now to zika?unbelievable! i believe there is another explanation.and people before you all start to get political its not only here in dominica.it has been affecting other countries for a while now.

The Aedes aegypti mosquito is capable of hosting all three viruses. One individual mosquito is not necessarily carrying all or even one at any given time. If a mosquito that is not carrying the virus bites a human that is infected, that mosquito could pick up the virus. When it goes and bites another human, that virus can get into their blood, infecting them. What happened here is that a person who did not know they were infected, came to Dominica, got bit by a mosquito here. Then that mosquito bit another person, infecting them.

Thank god that every one is stupid. That dont be alarmed trick donr work any more the ppl are more educated now. SO when they say dont be alarmed RUN. THINK befor you speak minister.

what measures have been put in place for this virus?
have we thought of screening people who came other parts of the world? those close to us were already confirmed to have this virus spreading. when the people comes in on boat or plane, what measures were put in place to fight the spread? Giving a person a piece of paper for them to full in does not curb the problem because they could state on the paper that they have not traveled to any other country in the last month rather than where they are coming from, when in fact they could have traveled to 3 other places.

I think that we need to take this more seriously. Health personals should be stationed at all ports of entry and this should have been practiced a long long time ago.

I pray to God that this thing does not spread in our country. We have so much dealing with at the time.

I really cannot believe that Dominicans didn’t expect Zika to reach our shores…Seriously man?? This thing is all over the damn Caribbean. Quite frankly I’m surprised it took to long to reach us with Guadeloupe and Martinique being so badly off already.

The government did take some measures to reduce the spread through the national clean up campaign. Come on now..Labour or UWP there is so much any government can do to prevent the spread of a disease already spreading in epidemic proportions, not only in the Caribbean but in the US and South America. The onus is on us as individuals to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes by keeping our surroundings free of receptacles that could retain water thereby creating a home for these mosquitoes. Even for a highly political country like Dominica this is something we as citizens can do.

MR darroux instead of comeing and publicly telling we the people of dominica that there is no need to to be alarmed it would be better if you tell your boss that the people from your village who he put in people’s houses with the promise that he will pay the rent after erica to pay it because some of these people are being embarrassed by the landlords as they are not able to obtain their monies from the government for their . houses. or don’t you have the testicular fortitude? i find that rather distasteful as your boss was able to let go $91,000 for the biggest economy in the world today while we need 1.3 or 5 billion dollars to rebuild our island after erica.shame on you sir and your tail waging puppy behaviour

    The Great Zika Hoax continues:-

Fumigate – spread the chemicals that cause the effects attributed to Zika
Vaccinate – do the job attributed to Zika and continue the eugenics movement spearheaded by NWO agent, the UN,

    AND

    sterilize recipients
    give them cancer
    shorten their lives.

The Zika scam continues whilst the very things that are causing its effects – pesticides in our food (as Brazil found out) – go on being dumped on us by the very same folk who wish us all dead!

Let Darroux be the first one to take the Zika vaccine; for him and his family to live right next to ‘fumigated’ areas; to abtain from sexual intercourse – permanently – so as not to spread the hoax virus; to have all his food swamped with pesticides from Monsatan.

Every virus result in much propaganda. It scares the people and makes them paranoid. They never tell us the true story.
Think of Ebola. It is strange that these viruses surface from time to time. There is speculation about it.
A few years ago it was SARS. It was said that it originated from China. Toronto got its share. Some people died. A few who medically administered to those who were hospitalized in Toronto died. If I am not mistaken, I think approximately 34 people died in Toronto. It was scary. Some people walked with a covering over their nose and mouth.
It affected even the Catholic Church, in that we were told not to shake hands at the time of wishing each other “Peace.” The Holy Water font in these churches were empty for fear of contracting SARS.
Most buildings as also the Catholic Church have a cleansing lotion for the hands. The thing about it is, the people have to hold the top to do so. I do not bother with that.
      We wonder what is next?

Zika is already an epidemic and is spreading world-wide. It was a matter of time that it would be in Dominica.
The Health authorities must inform nationals it could be contracted through sexual relations. No joking! Some people have contracted it in this manner. At first they thought it was not possible. It has since been confirmed that it has occurred. Therefore, Dominicans, be careful.

        To LuChu and Heartfelt:

There are some people who love giving others thumbs down even though their comment makes sense. All I can say about such people, their heart is made of stone.
If they speak and write English and listen to the International News as the US, they should comprehend what I stated. I suppose it satisfies them to give thumbs down. However, whoever did is not smart.

Dominica these days is so uncertain. We are like a person with a very weak immune system that is vulnerable to anything and according to the PS of health, it’s just a matter of when. These days we are speared from nothing and we seem to be the gate way to any plague, whether it is zika, erika, blacksiga, child molestation, airport flooding when sun is out, and the list goes on. Can we not see something is wrong that calls for immediate urgent attention? We are like a balloon that may burst anytime. One thing that is clear and cannot be denied is, from 2014, when our pm joined the illuminati and the church blessed and welcomed it, by their silence, all hell broke lose on us and the curse began to multiply speedily.

So we have zika mosquitoes already among the population……papamete what we waiting to come through the door already under the bed! Woy, woy woy, But It is rather baffling…. it seems more like magic, say dengue and dengue comes, say chikungunya and it comes, now all of a sudden abracadabra Zika! And it is among us…….like magic. I can therefore safely say yet another and yet another will come, we just have to say the name. Sigh

No, of course no need for alarm. In Dominica alarm bells are only rung 1 minute before 12. But having said that, then the bells are rung well and properly! As if it would make a difference then. But there you have it.

I guess you all couldn’t wait to jump on the negativity. Glad you all are beginning to say “alleged”!

Good work, Ministry of Health for all the effort to prevent the disease from getting here. Instead of waiting for an opportunity to jump on the Ministry of Health why don’t we talk to our neighbours who still have exposed barrels of water and old appliances in their yards after all the effort to clean up?

Why don’t we jump on those who still dump all kinds of items in areas where they are not supposed to dump endangering other people who are themselves trying to keep their surroundings clean? Do we really expect the Ministry of Health to come into our homes and yards and teach us cleanliness? We either have it or we don’t! Just see how people drop the containers from food that they eat anywhere.

Unbelievable, but I saw an empty drink container stuck on the railing of the Neg Mawon statue on Turkey Lane. How more sick can we get?
