In the aftermath of the damage caused by Hurricane Matthew to Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas, the Dominica Business Forum (DBF) is soliciting the support of private enterprises and the general public in raising funds to assist the people of these affected countries.
The DBF seeks to foster a consolidated mechanism, institution, think-tank and voice of the private sector on matters of micro, meso and macro importance to business and civil society, and to exist alongside the respective member associations: Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA), Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), Dominica Coalition of Service Industries (DCSI), Builders and Contractors Association of Dominica (BCAD), Dominica Employers’ Federation (DEF), Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) and the OECS Business Council.
The DBF is partnering with the radio stations (Dominica Broadcasting Service, Kairi FM Radio, Q95 Radio, Vibes Radio and the Voice of Life) for a radiothon on Saturday October 22nd, 2016 from 2:00 pm. The purpose of this will be to raise funds from private enterprises and the general public which will greatly aid in the relief effort to the affected countries previously mentioned. The proceeds will be submitted to the government of Dominica to be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
We in Dominica have been on the receiving end of international relief and would like to support the persons recently affected by Hurricane Matthew. We can make a difference through our donations in support of the people of these countries.
As Dominica celebrates its 38th Anniversary of Independence, the Dominica Business Forum (DBF), appeals to the private sector and all nationals to remember our affected brothers and sisters in Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas, as they continue to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew, by making a contribution to the recovery effort in those countries.
Persons interested in making a contribution to this worthy cause can do so by tuning in to their favorite radio stations at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday 22nd October, 2016 or they can make deposits to account number 815000539 at the National Bank of Dominica.

Choops…… haiti getting hundreds of millions….. bahamas well off… i doe see y we wasting so much time on this…..we doe even finish recover yet but we dere giving away….did bahamas even help us?
I support the effort to provide aid but will not agree for the proceeds of this to be handed to the government for them to make political mileage out of it, any govermnet. We can chose a neutral organisation like the red cross, for instance to channel these funds to where they are most needed.
Sorry to state. The Red Cross is not more honest. Did you hear what occurred in the US after 9/11 and what the Red Cross did with some of the money?
I am not implicating D/ca Red Cross. However, money from D/ca Red Cross will obviously be channeled through a main Red Cross. Some people do not have that confidence.
Some of the money donated go to administrative costs. They take their cut. All the money donated never go to the intended purpose. I am certain this applies to anyone of them that collect the money. They all have administrative costs.
If you feel like giving, simply give and hope for the best. You will be giving to an organization for a good cause. At least you can feel satisfied that you gave. Some of it will get there.
