The Princess Margaret Hospital is today seeking more blood volunteer donors as World Blood Donor Day is observed.
The Dominica Red Cross and the Hospital Medical Lab have been registering people as volunteer donors.
Acting Medical Lab Superintendent Walter Jones said the exercise is to satisfy a long-term need for blood.
“What we have noticed is that blood that is given volunteer is of a better quality than that which is given under replacement conditions. What we want to do is be sure that if there is a crisis, there will be people we can call on…too few people in Dominica are blood volunteers,” he said.
Jones said safe-based organizations and social clubs should put donating blood on their front burner.
Registration for volunteer blood donors will be held until 6p m at the Dominica Red Cross.
