New lung cancer vaccine developed in Cuba

Cuba’s Centre for Molecular Immunology (CIM) has patented a new therapeutic lung cancer vaccine, according to Ana Maria Vazquez, a specialist at the institution.

Vazquez said on Monday that the antibody, called Racotumomab, was proven in rigorous clinical trials in 2012 to increase survival rates among cancer patients, and has shown good safety and tolerance levels.

The new vaccine reportedly combats lung carcinoma by reducing cancer cells and minimizing the presence of tumours.

Anything towards eliminting cancer is a plus in my eyes. Kudos to the Cubans, and all those who work tirelessly to find cures for cancer.

Just because they develop something it doesn’t mean that it works. There is big money in cancer and then you die anyway. Vaccines have never been proven to prevent any disease. Research it. The whole theory is based on bad science.

PT is right, all forms of drugs/medication has side effects, some of which are worse the that disease being treated.

DODDDDDDOS – stop being sarcastic, you guys like to bring people down too much. If you wish to correct the person do so genuinely. You dominicans like to capitalize on people’s weakness too much in an attempt to APPEAR “strong”. CHUPES MAN!

I love the Cuban system!!!!! One of the best. They don’t believe in it because they fear that the young ones with such an insignificant degree( all in their minds) take over. But they must understand not every parent can send their children to universities abroad like they do. Matters not where you study it’s application and determination. However, depending on the school greater opportunities may be presented nonetheless, Cuban graduates have done well thus far.

my friend…these doctors who studied at UWI don’t believe in anything that came from UWI…after UWI for them is the USA, England and Canada…trust me is the truth…anything that comes from Cuba is cutting into their profits…and what that killing them more…most of them have so called high-class surname so they see it as their right and not privilege to be doctors, so since the Cuban Scholarship Programme gives poor people children then chance to make a good name for their selves people like the “good” doctor you mentioned turning purple vex every july, aug, sept when Cuban graduates coming home…i know it first hand…is the truth

But you need to ask yourself, what have they done to help improve the health system in Dominica. The only thing they are good at is working for their pockets in their private offices.

They got the Cuban doctors working as clerical staff for donkey years on a month to month basis in the hospital, never seen so much unfairness and disrespect.
