No HIV positive pregnancies in 2012

No pregnant women tested so far for the year have been reported HIV positive, according to health educator Angela Desabaye.

The health official says the National HIV/AIDS Response Unit is keeping a very close watch on pregnant women, in its bid to prevent mother to child transmission of the disease.

“Stable results” is what she says the Unit is able to boast about since that programme began in 2001.

“Over the years we have seen no more than 3 pregnant women testing positive for HIV in any given year,” she reported at the formal launching of a new brand of condom – COOL, being used in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

According to Desabaye, one teenage pregnant mother tested positive for HIV out of 993 women tested in 2011.

She indicated that in 2010 there were no newly diagnosed pregnant mothers.

The health official said that the programme also tests the partners of the women, because of the possibility that women can be HIV negative while their partners are HIV positive.

The health educator said women are encouraged to test twice during their pregnancy – at the beginning and near the end of the pregnancy.

She disclosed too that children exposed to the virus are tested at 2 months and 4 months respectively, and again at 18 months to ensure that the infant is HIV negative.

Very good news! Continue to bring the awareness to the community and you will continue to see positive results. Health education give communities the opportunity to acquire information and the skills needed to make quality health decisions. Great job!

HIV is a man-made laboratory created virus.

    • March 19, 2015

There is absolutely no proof that HIV is a man made virus created in a lab.

There is not even any evidence to suggest that this is the case.

It is irresponsible to make a statement like this.

There are other theories with more substance than this one but because of the desire to be politically correct they are not made public which is probably a good thing.

There is one way to stop the spread of the disease in its tracks. If people would practice abstinence before marriage and chastity in marriage AIDS would disappear from the earth in a generation.

People who limit their sexual activity to their lawful partner in a monogamous marriage run no risk of being infected. They will also be an example to their children and able to teach them God’s moral code
for a healthy and happy life as it is found in the New Testament.

      I recommend the reading of Romans 1:26,27, 1 Corinthians 6:9,10. Galatians 5:19,21. 1 Timothy 1:9,10.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International…

They need to test the entire Country. Don’t wait till you are pregnant. It’s as simple as going to the Rum shop, so what are people waiting for?

Wait, ‘one teenage pregnant mother tested positive for HIV out of 993 women tested in 2011’. As in 993 pregnant women? Yet our population is shrinking? :S . Somebody’s lying, either our population really isn’t shrinking as much as we thought & it’s actually getting higher, or there want really 993+ pregnant women.
