Regional Testing Day, a partnership between the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership on HIV and AIDS and Scotia bank, will be observed this year on June 27th.
Expanded from its pilot programme in 2008, which was concentrated in Barbados, the initiative aims, this year, to have approximately 10,000 people across the region tested.
One of the main reasons for this testing campaign is to encourage everyone to know his/her status, since knowing ones’ HIV status is better than not knowing.
To fulfill the mandate of Regional Testing Day, Dominica’s National HIV and AIDS Response Programme will provide testing on June 24th and 25th. Testing will be done in all health districts on the 24th and in the Carib Territory on the 25th.
For further information, please contact the National HIV and AIDs Response Programme Secretariat at 266 3570; 266 3569, 440 6876.
I hope people take advantage and get tested. Knowing your status and your partner’s status can help prevent new infections. But we are still in need of a cure for the millions currently living with HIV. Please support re:solve AIDS. The re:solve AIDS project is raising money to get a promising AIDS vaccine through human testing so that it can be produced and made available to everyone who needs it. http://bit.ly/e4ehI7
