The Roosevelt Skerrit-led government has nominated Alix Boyd-Knights to be president of Dominica to replace Eluid Williams whose term expires in October.

Convent High School, Dominica (1953-1960) Really? I thought CHS was for 5 years and one year extra if you attended Secretarial class.. I’m I the only one seeing this?

My late dad taught me..” The only thing that walks back from the grave with the mourners and refuses to be buried—is CHARACTER…”

Alix Character is NOT what you profess to be or post on your long CV it’s who you really are, who the world(DOMINICANS) KNOW you to be.

We are mere mortals, subject to err, however let us all be guided by how we live our lives in youth and beyond, especially when you want to be elevated to high office. It’s time Dominica takes more from the US than slackness.

What does all that mean?So people with impressive CV’s can get involved in vulgarism, and all sots of ills, be cantankerous, biased, divisive?
So in other words if the PM of a country has a piece of paper that one considers an impressive CV’s are we saying the he can lie to the people, STEAL, CHEAT, HAVE UNCACCOUNTED PROPERTY AND WEALTH, CURSE AND DISRESPECT THE ELECTORATE ETC, ETC, ETC,?????? I say no,a PM like that should be kick out by the those who love their country ( the electorate)as far as possible. It’s only in Dominica we have this high level of nonsense exists.

It are not her paper qual;ifications alone that would make her a good President. I heard the mayor of Rosea on DBS news appealing to women to support her because she is a woman too! Well, this is an insult to me and most women, who are quite capable of judging for themselves We want to be judged on our merits and not on the basis of gender. Ms. Boyd-Knights behavior does little to advance the cause of sex equality. As much as I would welcome a womam Presiden, Ms. Boyd-Knights is not a suitable candidate.

When you interview for a job the interviewer who works on behalf of the prospective employee is not interested in only your academic CV but your personality and character are also areas they scrutinize. Would you hire someone who is academically sound but is a known criminal or someone who always runs afoul of the law? Would you hire someone who is academically sound but is not a team player, unfair, dishonest, ill-desciplined, disingenuous, racist or xenophobic? So you see it’s not all about academics but about character as well.

The posting of the CV for the Presidential nominee is helpful. However Mr. Editor, you will appreciate that you can find over 100 Dominicans with equally impressive or much more impressive CVs. What makes the nominee unqualified for this highest office in our fair country is the many things which one will not find on a CV and of which most Dominicans and many outsiders are very familiar with.
After so much public opposition to this nomination, a person worthy to be the President of Dominica would have requested that her name be withdrawn.

Mr. Skerrit and DLP members, Nobody questions her CV; what we all, including some leading members of the cabinet as well as some big boys of the DLP are upset about is he CHARACTER. The woman is a trouble maker, and does not respect the right of others as she so clearly demonstrated during the house of assembly, her clash with Peter R Augustine and the evangelicals during a crusade in 2000, the Seventh Day Adventist, and her push to stop street jump-up. Furthermore Skerrit, her language used during a DLP convention, though not any different from yours, is totally unacceptable. Please do not send me to “Hell” Skerrit for expressing my concerns

What do we want of a President, anyway? I recently assisted a friend in submitting a CV online for analysis and best fit for a certain position. Despite eternally sturdier academic qualifications and experience, her CV was returned as WEAK. From what I see here, our presidential nominee’s CV would not even get a WEAK rating … especially if there is a lower category. As if to add insult to injury, someone had the gumption to promote the nominee on the radio as a “women’s advocate” – REALLY???? What utter blasphemy!!! I can only hope that our people rise up and apply all of the education that has been pumped at us, to state categorically that this nominee does not truly represent the true Dominica that we love. Maybe she represents what Dominica is fast becoming (or has become?), but this is not truly who or what we really are!

You all can list qualifications from now til kingdom come. It doesn’t change her stinking attitude, and her bias.

And how does this take away from the personality she exhibits in public, her diatribes of the past on political platform and her conflict with her neighbors in Trafalgar

  50. Lang Mama
    September 9, 2013

Lang Mama can be president bondieur. I spent five years at high school Alix spent 7.well one mayor I know spent 10 years so maybe Alix should become mayor instead.

Jah know how many meetings I have attended.
As for cooking- Alix can never cook more ” braff” than me. I am sure she eat more food than me.

She fought for women’s right in her own way. Lang Mama will fight for women’s right by not abusing men and giving men “ding dong” and horn.

Vote Lang Mama for president. I have been the speaker in my house for 20 years. I didn’t go to law school but I listen to lectures from a professor and a cunning priest.

The most important component of the CV- the publications is overly summarized and they named every meeting she attended formally and informally, what a disgrace to the intelligent minds of Dominica.

The one ting Marn see dere dat most people may or may fail to take note of is :- Attorney-at-Law/Owner Knights Chambers, Dominica (1990 to present),,,

Mamzelle is part of the Club,,,

But for all dose dat claim to be in best interest of Humanity but always express their Greedy Nature as Lawyers go read some scripture for yourself and remember this one:

“Woe unto you, lawyers! For ye have taken away
the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.” — Luke. XI, 52

Alix’s CV in relation tot he word of GOD

    The bible states

1: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2: And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3: And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4: Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    5: Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

    6: Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7: Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8: Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9: For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10: But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11: When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12: For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13: And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

DNO, do you understand this issue being discussed? This CV fails to address the character issues raised. It would probably be very helpful to detail the personality traits which qualify this woman for the position of president.

  56. September 9, 2013

The contents of this so-called “CV” is nothing to impress an informed endorsement of Ms. Knights.

That’s a common or regular CV just decorated with a history of meetings she attended and speeches she gave. lol You don’t even add this to an official CV.

    September 9, 2013

She is academically and professionally qualified! There’s no question about that. And truthfully, there was never a question about that. One’s suitability for an office at this level weighs less on academic and professional qualification and more on behaviour, attitide, ethical conduct and the like. Alix Boyd-Knights does not epitomize the behaviour and conduct that is Dominica. Period!

  58. Hahahahahahahah
    September 9, 2013

Great stuff Mrs. Knight but going through your CV I have not seen anything speaking to.

    1. Integrity

    2. Respect for religious liberty

    3. Impeccable character

    4. Objective

    5. Community Spirit

    6. Fair

    7. Balanced

    8. Facilitator of Peace (Unifier of people)

    9. Well respected (earned)

    10. THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT

    ***ALL THIS DOES NOT MATTER***

It’s not about the “Curriculum Vitae”.

It’s about the character especially as a public servant.

SADLY, not of her accomplishments seems to have helped her in being a respectable/honourable public servant!!

    -Thanks

Not qualification but character….or have we gone low down the road of corruption that character is no longer a requirement, my oh my.

  62. Alana
    September 9, 2013

My CV is more impressive and I am 24.

In many countries including the USA you don’t even include high school education…

And really? A list of all the conferences you attended? That’s like a calypsonian listing all his calypso performances.

But as they say leaders are a reflection of their people. What would skerrit’s CV show anyway?

    • Really!
      September 9, 2013

Don’t talk your crap “Alana” there is no way that your CV could be more impressive than that of Miss Knight. According to you, ” in many countries including the USA, you don’t even include High School”. Don’t be so childish!

It would be very interesting to have a view of the CV of the UWP leader, Lennox Linton! I guess we would not have to worry about His high School Diploma because he is a drop out and neither does he hold a simple University degree. I can now see you comparing your CV to his.
