On Saturday Allan Guiste celebrated his 100th birthday.
He was born on June 2, 1912.
A birthday celebration, which included a mass led by Msgr. Eustace Thomas, was held at his house in Goodwill and was attended by the President of Dominica, Nicholas Liverpool and Mrs. Liverpool and Parliamentary Representative for Roseau North Julius Timothy among others.
A devoted Catholic, Guiste was able to participate in the Holy Communion rite at the mass.
Guiste worked as a prison officer for most of his life but was also a tailor who sewed uniforms for other prison officers and inmates. After retiring from the prison services he continued working as a tailor, providing his skills to the Dominica Police Force.
Guiste is in good health and high spirit and is the father of four, Ronnie, Ronald, Clayton and Fitzroy.
I met my godfather only once in my life, that was 1964. He gave me a ride on his motorbike to his house, never saw him again. I know it’s him cause his name is on my birth certificate. I am now seeing this! happy belated birthday SIR! WISHING YOU CONTINUED LONG LIFE. SPENCER
Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life. To live 100 years in good health and in high spirit is a great blessing. My grand uncle Mr. Allen Guiste is a good man, he is loved and appreciated by many. I enjoyed the times I spent with him a few years ago. He is a man of integrity and always willing to offer a good word of advice.I admire his communication skills and his high level of intelligence and self-discipline. Happy birthday to you uncle. Wow! Happy Birthday Mr. Guiste! You look so much like my grand father (he was also a Guiste) from Petite Savanne. I would love to meet you.
This is what you can truly called a blessing, He looks great Grandpa can surely gives us, some of his secret recipe like bush medicine, milk, and honey.
Dominica is truly the place to be. That Island gives you the best chance at longevity.
Just a few minutes ago, I read in Psalm 90 that our years shall be 70 and with strength 80. Mr. Guiste is a testament of strength and resilence celebrating 100. Congratulations on this milestone birthday!
What a most memorable occasion!! So many years of experience to share with our young ones! The Ministry of social services should embark on a programme to record the lives of these luminaries and save them for posterity. Please do not let them just disappear like that into thin air.
On behalf of my family and myself, I wish you good health and some more years to come. (my mum will be 92 this September).
Flowers from me to you.
we love you
MAY THE GOOD LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU.
Thanks for letting us (poor young boys) listen to broadcast of cricket test matches played in England in the early 50’s while you lived in Field’s Lane.Surely, you have had a good inning.May God bless.
Mr Guiste looks good!
Wishing him more years of live so that we can be witnesses to longevity.
Whoop whoop!!
Viva Mr. Guiste. You should tell us what the road was like because many people fear old age as much as they fear death. Do you find the life worth living? How do you cope with the aches, pains and people’s inconsideration? Do you think about death? How do you feel about it?
Here’s wishing you all the best in this world and the next; and blessings to your family and friends who help to keep you happy and comfortable.
