Calypsonian Michael ‘Boople’ LaFleur has dismissed rumors that he has died and is asking for fans to pray for him.

He is presently a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) and rumors have been circulating that he has passed.

But speaking in an exclusive interview from his hospital bed, Boople shot down the rumors.

“I am alive,” he stated. “I have done the surgery and we are awaiting results. All I asked is for my fans to pray for me.”

There were speculations that that the calypsonian is suffering from cancer but he said tests, made in Trinidad, have shown this may not be the case.

“We have just started going through tests since the surgery and it’s the same thing,” he stated. “We have done the tests and its the same thing, zero.”

He is assuring fans that while the tests conducted so far are not conclusive, it’s “not cancer”.

“People are speculating but I am still me, walking around and doing it all, awaiting results,” Boople noted. “I am happy that my fans are concerned… and all I ask the fans is for a simple prayer, ‘Lord I love Boople, heal him please.'”

He is optimistic that he will get out of the situation which he has been suffering from since September 2015.

“Fans don’t worry, just pray for me and ask God to heal me,” he said.

Boople is well known on the calypso scene. Recent songs include “Air Dominica,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Kranana,” “Three Witches in London” and ‘Cheap Cars.”

We Dominicans are a special breed. We don’t need facts before we start talking. One person starts a rumour and we don’t care if it’s true or not for us to start spreading it. Smh. I’m hoping he makes a speedy recovery. I can only imagine how depressing it is to be that sick and not know what’s wrong.

Sorry Boople. Hope you get better soon. We are all human and likely to get sick. That is why we have to be so careful about what comes out of our mouths. Life and Death lie in the power of the tongue, the Bible said it, who am I to doubt it.

You have just got a taste of the society we have become. Perhaps when you get back on your feet you will think twice about what you sing, whether it is true or just a rumour. It is never nice when we are on the receiving end, but it is an opportunity to assess how we move forward in the future.

Blessings on you brother, best of luck!
