UPDATE: Missing girl found in Seneku

Jade was found in Castle Bruce
Jade was found in Seneku

A teenager, whose mother has reported was missing since Monday, has been found in Seneku.

Her mother, Karen Josephs, had initially told DNO she was found in Castle Bruce but she later clarified and said Seneku after she was given further information by the police.

Jade Junkere was last seen in her school uniform on Monday after taking an exam.

Josephs said the 16-year-old was seen by someone in the eastern village and called the police at Castle Bruce..

The police then took her to the police station and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Roseau was contacted.

Jade was then taken to Roseau and Josephs was contacted.

Josephs told DNO that her daughter “looks a little tired” but is otherwise fine.

“I feel blessed …this is one of the best time of my life,” she said in reacting to her daughter being found. “I would like to thank everybody who helped to find my daughter. Without them I wouldn’t have made it.”

The way you brought up at home depend on your future.A bad beginning always end up a bad ending. If we don’t obey the rules at home we got flogged. If we don.t obey the rules at school we get detention.and at work if you don’t obey rules you will get the sack.Them runaways are under parents roof. If one of my children did not come home before 8 pm I would be out looking for them.NOBODY Sleeps before we know her whereabouts. At that age there is no mention about a dad looking for his daughter. The Police suppose to be looking for criminals instead looking for child who is badly brought up. if your children hate you for teaching them what is wright so be it but, they got to be told.

Thank God this little girl is home!

Thanks also to the police and all who helped.

Where she was and who she was with is not the public’s business. It is the duty of the police to interview her and determine if anybody abused her before or after she left home, and lay any appropriate charge or charges.

A social worker should also talk with her to see if she was running from something and do what can be done to prevent it from happening again to her or any other girl.

Most will agree that this is happening too often. It is a problem that should be worked at.

The age of consent should be no lower than 18, and maybe higher.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist. (Pastoral Counselor Certificate)

Living at somebody’s home not yours, you say I am going to visit a friend and give the address,or if not planned ,you contacted the person with whom you live and said if you need me I will be with so and so,if you cannot do that, it means you are out for some mischief. If you are so unmanly,no love or respect for anyone when they claimed you are found where do you go back to

We definetly need to know more details. In the event that anything goes wrong with another child or even before anything goes wrong we can avoid it. This could save another child. And i mean innocent child. Ask for this young lady she needs to talk. If her dissappearance was intentional she needs to apoligize. People don’t stop looking for your children when your gutt feelings tell you to.

Some of you commenting here at way too ignorant! Yes she was missing and was found. It’s obvious she will be brought to a Doctor to be examined since the matter is being investigated. No need to give persons all the personal details…there are rules pertaining to the law I am sure DNO is following so chill! The most important things is she was found alive. The rest is left to the police and the parents on a way forward…#MyTwoCents

Allu have it wrong, while she is 16 and thats the age of consent. she is not an adult . her parents are still responsible for her if she was at some man or woman home this would constitute kidnapping, weather voluntary or involuntary.

dont confuse age of consent/ rights of a child and adulthood .

    Stand to be corrected.

90 percent of wemen have sex before 18 we all are saying increase the age of consent from 16 to 18 to protect our girls but what about our boys because when its increase to 18 and your 18 year old son sex a young lady below the age of 18 and he is caught prison for him DOMINICAN THINK .

For all those who commented wat was she doing in castle. Straight n to the point. She has her family there ok. So stop these. Now a days we forget to be our neighbors keeper. Its time we Dominicans start to look for each other instead of trying destroy one another. She is safe n we are happy. N those of u talking about bringing her to a dr. If u was her shoes wat would u have done first. Stop looking for every detail. Commonsense ppl

    June 25, 2015

My whole point is; if you not inviting me to wedding, do not invite me to funeral. You plead to the entire nation to help you find your child. After it is done, don’t you think they deserve an explanation? We are not asking for details but it would be nice to know whether she willingly went there or was forced to go there. We need to know whether this was a voluntary or involuntary act? We deserve that much!

As for the age of consent, we need to be more vigilant when we place people in ‘power’ and the laws they put to govern we and our children. Take a little time to research which administration changed the age of consent to 16 to suit themselves. We as parents and concerned citizens should have rallied from that time to have it changed. A 16 year old cannot vote, they are not adults, most are still in school and living with their parents. How can they consent to sex which may ultimately lead to babies? They cannot hold a proper job, how are they to become adults?

  15. High Expectation
    June 25, 2015

Good to know she was returned safely. Karen spend a lot of time talking to her. She needs your support now more than ever.

We are too quick to jump to conclusions. Too many times we seek to set blame when we are confronted by such situations. If the daughter was found today, we should not expect much more comments from from the mother. All she should be concerned about now is that her daughter was found alive and seemed well. We have too much high expectations when the shoe is on the other foot.

Wait until we are faced with the same or similar situations and then and only then we will try to understand. Should DNO seek to bring an updated story later, YES! Thats what we all want. However, though trival as it may seem the family also deserves privacy. Are we saying that because we have a moral and civic obligation to care about our neighbor, that if we help in locating the daughter we are entitled to get full details of her whereabouts? That may not be possible now.

Ok, so you are woman enough to call yourself sexy but cannot write a complete sentence? Your priorities are mixed up. Yes, when some run away from home (not that I am insinuating that is the case with Jade), it may because of a bad situation at home. However, more often than not, the grass seems greener on the other side. Those long-tone man out there that are preying on young girls know all what to say to entice the young mind. “Your mother lived her life she does not want you to live yours,” “those people have you in bondage” These are some of the foolish things peers and the older animals out there put in those girls minds. We have to be more vigilant. Something needs to be done. We need more social services for our teenagers. Your post was a cry for help.

Karen seek help for your daughter. It is not too late to intervene, whatever the case may be. We have an obligation to protect our young ones, starting from the pre-school years.

Increase the age of consent to 18.
Educate them in school. Teach them discipline and respect for themselves, for their parents and other adults. Some parents may be incapable of doing that. Some of the children may also not listen to them which is why they become rebellious and run away.
How could she be away for so many days and her mother has no idea where she is? If it is said she has a grandmother in Castle Bruce, was she at the grandmother’s home?
It was stated she had lunch with her grandmother. Is she using her grandmother as an excuse for running away? But then she was found in another area; not Castle Bruce.
Some of these young people are too free to roam around and go where they please. What control do some of these parents have over them and to discipline them?
We know nothing about the mother except she reported her daughter missing. Now she is elated that she has returned. End of story? Hope she does not run away again and DNO posts it.

That is stupid of you all she is a child and a woman at the same time because law in Dominica say she can have a boyfriends or lover or can have sex with any man. You all can not do the child any thing at all she is protected by the law. Age of consent is 16 that is wicked for children in Dominica.

    • genie
      June 25, 2015

not the child the person who had her in where ever she was

    • The Real Facts
      June 25, 2015

As for probably running away, she is 16 and is still under her mother’s control and responsibility. This will be between her and her mother.
Times have changed in D/ca. Has the government emulated the bigger countries?
What kind of law is this? Age of consent is 16? This means she can go about having babies. She is still attending high school which means she is considered a child and residing under her mother’s roof. The mother is obviously providing her with housing, food and clothing.
It cannot only be one way only for age of consent at 16. If she is old enough to be of the age of consent, she is old enough to live on her own, be employed and earn her keep. Then, in effect, her mother is not responsible for her and cannot punish her.
Actually, age of consent should be 18 for at this age, they will have left elementary school or high school.

    • The Real Facts
      June 25, 2015

Therefore, if the age of consent is 16, the government should revise it and increase it to 18. This will give parents more responsibility over their children – teenagers.
This is why some youths are disobedient and rebellious. When such a law of age of consent is 16, in effect, it gives them the freedom and right to act as an adult. One day, some people, authorities who pass such a law and parents go along with it and approve it, will pay for this before God especially if these children go astray even though they are adults. Consider the next generation and the next . . . until they die to Judgment Day.

      • Opinionated
        June 25, 2015

I disagree, the age of consent is okay – increasing it to 18 is baseless. A man having sex with a 16 year old today cannot be a statutory rapist tomorrow, foolishness.

    • The Real Facts
      June 25, 2015

I endorse what you stated. People are concerned and then we hear absolutely nothing about where she was and what occurred, in addition to why she ran away, stayed out and out of school for a few days at that without contacting her mother.
In this case, should this recur, probably no one should comment about it. I did not comment, knowing that it is not the first time this occurred in D/ca. Why waste time to comment about that?
It is difficult to have empathy for those children who run away from home to pursue their own agenda and feelings. They lack obedience and respect for their parents and other adults.
Do you recall two other girls disappeared sometime ago? They returned. We also heard/read nothing about it. From my point of view, they deserve a good beating for their disobedience and rebelliousness.
In the New Testament: “Spare the rod, spoil the child.” We reside in an era which is otherwise. This is the way the world is going. It is already far gone.

      • Just Looking On...
        June 26, 2015

        @ Real Facts,
Respect is earned, not beaten into a child or anyone for that matter. Unless she is mentally disturbed, she would not be running away from a good thing. Obviously there has to be a dialogue between the mother/parents and the child with possible professional intervention.
Please do not be too quick to judge, it is difficult being a teenager in today’s world.
Finally, please respect her privacy. Is it really that important to broadcast the details of her whereabouts and what transpired during that time?
Put yourself in her shoes… imagine that “rod on your back”.

Then she should have kept it to herself. As long as she ventured into the annals of DNO, she opened the thing Zeus gave in (Greek mythology) a Pandora’s box which contained all of the evils of the world- consequently everything is equally likely.

Judge Richard A Posner a Federal Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School wrote in his book- Overcoming Law: ” I did not write this book for everyone to understand.” When I first read this phrase, I put down the book. But about a year later I wanted to challenge him, and I finished the book, and eventually found him to be relevant.

I hope Francisco Telemaque – do you think this is a representation of a person with low self esteem- gets to read this piece, which is surreptitiously intended for the edification of Lizavier4jesus.

I’m glad that she was found safe, but what the hell was she doing there in the first place? This seem to be the trend in Dominica, that these girls go about their buisness without a thought for their families who worry and imagine the worse senario that could have happened to them only for them to emerge a few days later with nothing wrong with them, and that they just wanted their own way. This is a waste of police time. Something needs to be done about this, at least find out if they are doing this as a cry for help because of their home life or if they’re just wayward. If its the latter they need to be deciplined and give them something to do in the community. They can go visit the sick and elderly in their community and offer their services. TONEH!
