  1. JUST ASKING?

Where did this young lady sleep? Whoever had her in their home should be ashamed of themselves. My question to this young lady is—–What is wrong at home? ask for help. Speak to your teachers, your guidance counselor at school, your pastor at church, the police, somebody that you trust in your family. By you running away is not making the problem go away. Seek help.

DOMINICA needs to implement ways where young people can voice their opinion in and open forum.

It’s amazing that None of the commenters here have shown any particular concern about the reason this young lady “disappeared”. It’s heartbreaking that the first thought in many minds would be that she simply escaped to have a tryst with a lover. Has no considered the fact that she may be running away from hells at home? Do we know that regardless of how nice a situation may look on the outside, NO one knows what this young lady is really going through? Shame on you all! I pray that Ms. Andrew finds some sort of comfort from whatever it is she may be facing and that she may be kept safe and know that there is hope for brighter days. Some people DO care.

If she has problems at home it is none of their business. It is between her parents and herself. It may also concern the authorities. Children could also be disobedient and want to have their way. Until they know the full story they can only surmise what may have occurred.

I’m responding with tears in my eyes…… I have two teenage (13 and 15) daughters in Charlotte NC so I’m very sensitive when comes to situation like this. Your letter express that you are also passionate about this too. This young girl must be crying out for help, and I am hoping the presents are question by the police and a home investigation need to be conducted. I also hoping that that the police do not allow this young lady to go back to the house without truly and vigorously confronting this kind of disappearing act . In the US and Canada majority of kids that run away from home is because of the home. The reason varies including mental, physical and sexual abuse top the list of prosecuted offences. Me and my family are all hoping and praying this young lady will be fine.

kids now a days don’t respect their parents..you cant leave your parents home and go and come back what ever time you feel like ,15 years is under age and these little girls are taking this age as grown to do what ever they want.but then again we do not know whether if she was having peer pressure at home, which cause her to leave.but then again you cant leave your parents home and think you’re grown.have many people out there worried ,not only your parents but the whole country was concern, because i bet there were many people who had and open eye for you and could not hold it in but spread the word. children obey you’re parents even if they might correct you and you do not like it ,that doesn’t mean they don’t love you they care about and loves you.

In my experience as a Dominican, most Caribbean Island laws including Dominica, do not protect our teenage girls enough. We are so quick to blame this young ladies without having a true sense of what is going on in there homes. So lets not sweep this one under the rug again like we have done so many times in the past, and lets all hope she is being love by her parents the she should be loved. Please, lets give her the benefit. Because, teenagers who run away from home is running away to find a home or something better. That happens to often.

I hope she – and her friends too – got the lesson and that sehe doesn’t think it’s cool to be in public with stories like that.
And I’m glad, that she is unharmed.

  12. The Facts
    January 26, 2015

Somehow, I had a feeling that she may have ran away from home.
Young girl where were you? You gave your family a scare, caused them worry and anxiety. You did not telephone them to inform them where you were and that you were OK.
She must have been at someone’s home. She appeared well and not disheveled.
She is a teenager? Her parents should take her to the doctor for a medical examination. You know what I mean.

Little girls these things are not a joke. Take you all time and grow and stop giving you all parents worries. Boyfriend always there. Focus on all you lesson now so that with a good education all u future will be bright. All you parents responsibility is to provide you all with all you basic needs. Parents love is genuine but the gangster love is just a mere disguise in order to use and abuse all you. Monsters leave people children alone let them enjoy their childhood

Its a sad thing, but when you take justice into your hands a jury of people you know will still hang you… its a low down dirty shame.

nonetheless parents should do all in their powers to protect their kids…
