The Dominica Freedom Party joins the nation in mourning the passing of the late former President Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool.
In a release issued by the Party today, June 2 it is describing the former President as a visionary and great citizen who has devoted his life and academic achievements to the service of humanity in his home land Dominica, the Region and Internationally.
Dr. Liverpool can be described as an individual with a great sense of humility, very down to earth, dedicated and committed to family and country.
Given his achievements, love of Country and his work more recently serving as President of the Commonwealth of Dominica from 2003 – 2012, the Dominica Freedom Party supports the Government’s decision in affording him a state funeral.
The Dominica Freedom Party extends deepest sympathy to his wife Mrs. Verna Liverpool and children, his extended family, relatives, friends and Dominicans at home and abroad.
He will be greatly missed.
Too late for any of the opposition political parties including the remaining DFP members who allowed and supported the abuse of a great and kind human being, to say now he was visionary and a great Dominican! Did this only happen in his death? You should have come forward with your support long before he died. This cannot and will not redeem you. You are certainly not doing it for him or his family. He cannot hear you. Maybe you are doing it for yourself and even so, too late is the cry.
So long Freedom die
What achievements? 8 or nine years as president what did he achieve? I guess I should praise him because he was educated? There are Harvard,Oxford & Cambridge graduates from Dominica if we want to celebrate education. I am lost as to how this man was a visionary. Let us all be honest with our selves & stop with the piety because the man is dead. Some people make the claim that the office of the president of Dominica is purely ceremonial but don’t forget the PM said Dr.Nicholas Liverpool is/was his friend & mentor. It stands to reason that the mentor didn’t do any mentoring at all. Not on the GON Emanuel issue (his fellow barrister & senior citizen like himself) not on his holding of french citizenship since he was some kind of hero on constitutional law. If one wants to feel sad because of friendship or just pure love that is fine with me… enough with the credulity.
i did not hear very positive or progressive things about that man his voice was not heard when the now President Charles Ssaverne call on Dominican not to shop at the supper market in cane field Brezzi mart.we did not hear his voice when the ex magistrate house was boomed in Goodwill and so many other important matters. in my honest opinion he was just receiving his salary like all the present civil servant and keeping their mouth shut while the Country and its people remain underdeveloped. tell me now is there any justification for the present President to be taking home 30.000??? charles savrine
you should be a shame of your slef. when you die people will say you was a good man too
Well done Dominica Freedom Party………..A party of integrity and honesty.
A President with Integrity and honesty……
I was a supporter of the Dominica Freedom Party especially at the time of the late PM, Dame Eugenia Charles. I think I am still somewhat a supporter. I have not given up on that Party.
When she lost the election, a D/can relative informed me, “Some people are too ungrateful.” To this day I believe that.
You know, politicians or shall I say the PM can never please everyone. This is broadmindedness about politics. This is why for happiness, harmony, unity and peace, we must support the present government and cooperate with the PM to help D/ca enhance and achieve its goal. Keep in mind, as all things take time, they are temporary; nothing lasts forever and time flies. This includes our age, time and life.
You know the saying, “United we stand. Divided we fall.”
May her soul rest in peace.
May the soul of former President N. Liverpool, rest in peace.
They have done their utmost. God will take that into consideration for their salvation. God bless their souls.
