The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) mourns the death of Mr. Allan Guye former Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau North Constituency and former Minister of Health and Social Security who passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015.
He can well be described as a good, strong, polite and great Dominican who distinguished himself as a Public Servant, Politician, Parliamentarian and Minister of Government who served the people of the Roseau North Constituency and Dominica well and faithfully.
He resigned his position from the Public Service in 1985 to enter the field of politics and contested the Roseau North Constituency as a candidate for the Dominica Freedom Party in the 1985 General Elections and again in 1990. He was successful on both occasions and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services – 1985 to 1990 and Minister of Health and Social Security – 1990 to 1995 up until his retirement from electoral Politics.
He was elected and served for five (5) consecutive terms as Chairman of the Dominica Freedom Party 1985 to 1990. He also served on a number of Statutory Boards and other Institutions including the Dominica Council on Ageing and Agricultural programmes locally and regionally. A sports oriented individual who represented Dominica in Football and Cricket in his younger days and also played bridge, almost to the end, in a number of tournaments here in Dominica and abroad. He also served as Treasurer of the Dominica Bridge Association and was honored at the National Sports Award as the longest serving Treasurer in any Association.
Mr. Guye was a humble and charitable gentleman who cared for the well–being of others particularly the less fortunate among us, the children, the youth and the elderly. He loved his family, his church, community and country and will be remembered for a very long time for his dedicated service and tremendous contribution to the development of Dominica.
The DFP extends deepest sympathy to his wife Mrs. Evelyn Guye, Children, Grand Children, Extended Family, Relatives and Friends and the People of the Roseau North Constituency.
May his soul rest in peace!
Mr. Allan Guye was a patriotic Dominican who love his country and represented in a very real way honesty and integrity. The person who feel that Mr. Guye was a stooge of Skerrit do not know anything about this gentleman and is very much mistaken. I extend my deepest sympathy to his wife Mrs. Evelyn Guye and family
RIP
I knew he was not well. Sorry to hear of his passing. I knew him, his wife Evelyn and family very well. He was a very nice person.
Two weekends ago, Caribana weekend, I attended a BBQ and met his son, wife and daughter. We had a wonderful, pleasant chat as I also reminisced of the families, the Josephs and Richards and the good old days. I viewed them as family members.
I inquired about him. I told his son to give his parents my love and tell them I am remembering them in my prayers.
My deepest condolence to Evelyn and family members. You are strong of faith and you know that God and Our Blessed Mother are with you, consoling you and strengthening you.
Eternal rest grant unto Allan, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!
May the soul of Allan and the soul of other faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen!
Condolences goes out to his family,Mr Guye was an avid domino player and member of Swansea Domino Club.
Condolences to the Guye family on the passing of Mr Guye. Will always remember the years I worked with him at the Division of Agriculture. Always willing to provide advice and assistance. Rendered public service all his life. RIP.
So sorry to hear….I remember him when I was younger as an outstanding sportsman.
Indeed he was one of the best football center forwards that ever graced the
the Windsor Park playing field.
Condolences to Mrs Guye and the family.
An icon of good governance and integrity until he allowed the bitterness of loosing office to make him become a Skerrit stooge. What a shame… I wish I could look up to you like I did as a teenager, anyways RIP>
I knew this gentleman to be very honorable and upright…If what you said is true that he allowed himself to be tainted by this present regime i am grossly disappointed…for real!
SMH!! You DA people need some serious help. I can’t understand how you people have made this tribal red/blue politics the center of your lives. It’s so sad :-(
If you do not know what you are talking about, you should not allow the possibility of you tainting someone in his death.
Why do you nasty and bitter people have to infest every article with your speculative and lying filth.
You know nothing of Mr Guye or his politics.
Its a pity its he and not you leaving this earth.
Another place another time with your divisive politics, the man passed away let his soul RIP. I don’t know what some of you would discuss if Skerrit wasn’t in politics your lives would be void.
Rest in eternal peace Mr. Guy I will remember you as the humble, caring person that you were.
a true statesman
