Agnes M. Abraham, daughter of Samuel Joseph Abraham and Antoinette “Yeto” Abraham, originally from Woodford Hill has received the prestigious Marshall England Public Health Award from the Commission on the Public’s Health System at their Annual Gala hosted by Harlem Hospital (HHC), New York City.

Abraham is the Chairperson of Kings County Hospital Center’s Community Advisory Board and the Chairperson of the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporations’ Council of Community Advisory Boards. The Community Advisory Boards serve as an oversight to the administrators of the hospitals and ensures that the patients’ voice and concerns are taken into consideration when policies are put into place and implemented.

The NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) is the largest public healthcare system in the United States and is the umbrella for 11 acute care hospitals, five skilled nursing facilities, six diagnostic and treatment centers, as well as clinics spread throughout New York City’s five boroughs.

HHC serves about 1.4 million patients annually. Its mission is to provide care for the residents of New York City regardless of their ability to pay or their immigration status.

Abraham is a fierce health care advocate and is well respected by her peers and the senior administrators of NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation.

The Commission on the Public’s Health System is a watchdog public policy organization that monitors activities as they pertain to health care delivery in the public health systems.

They have been stalwart advocates who serve as the “go-to group” for information and statistics regarding underserved communities of color and have conducted several needs assessments to present to government and non-government organizations in their quest to secure affordable, accessible and quality health care for all.

It so good to see people leave their homes village or country with the intention to achieve. Most of the time they do well. Dr Finn from Laplaine can attest to that. I am not sure if I know this fine lady although I think I do. But I know her people very well like her mom her sister Annelta, I can see the joy in their hearts. I want also to congratulate you on your achievements. Keep doing what you doing and the Lord will carry you through. I am happy for you. God bless you.
