Paul reportedly traveled to the Netherlands to buy a truck

Dominica-born Rene “Kobie” Paul from Portsmouth, who has been living in St Maarten for many years, was robbed and killed in the Netherlands last Friday, media reports indicate.

According to the reports the incident occurred in Burgemeester Meineszlaan, Rotterdam.

“Paul and his friend are said to have traveled to the Netherlands last week to buy a truck from some unknown persons. Still early in the investigation, reports suggest that he was set up by the assailants and gunned down on the spot,” a report in The Daily Herald in St. Maarten states.

The article states that family and friends are still in shock after learning of his death and family members in St. Maarten are making preparations to travel to the Netherlands to identify Paul’s body.

Paul was known in St. Maarten for his drag-racing skills and resided on the French side. He also drove heavy-duty dump and crane trucks.

The Daily Herald also reports that another man, also from St. Maarten, is in a coma in the Netherlands, arising from the incident. He was reportedly with Paul when he was also shot.

It is sad to read this. Innocently as this he went to see about a truck and he was robbed and killed. You can say he was lured to that place.
He never gave it a thought that such a thing could have happened to him. If only he knew he could have tried to investigate these people. It is something criminals do on the Internet. They pretend to sell items.but it is a bait.
A year or so a similar situation occurred in Ontario. A resident tried to sell his truck. Two men showed up at his home. They said they wanted to test the truck. The truck owner left with them. He was later found burned to death. The stole the truck. I think the men were caught.
I hope his partner survives and eventually gets better..
To his family, I extend my deepest sympathy. It is obviously a shock and a loss to you. Take heart. God is with you.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

I am sorry to know what happened to them. I hope the police of both countries will conduct a thorough investigation of also their communication on the Internet and probably phone calls (if they spoke on the phone) in order to catch the criminal(s).
If he had thought of it, he could have spoken to the police to accompany him and his friend. This may be a habit of those people. One day they will be caught.

We are warned. Beware of internet shopping also in the newspapers and making friends with unknown people on the internet. It is not safe.. Times are not what they were in previous years. People cannot be trusted especially in a case as this.
