Regional airline, LIAT, is mourning the death of one of its pilots, Dominican Martin Laville.
Laville passed away in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday night.
Antigua Observer reported he has been an employee of the airline since 2008.
He died of a suspected heart attack, the newspaper is reporting.
At the time of his death, Laville was not on duty.
The Observer also said that on Tuesday, Shavar Maloney, LIAT’s Corporate Communications Manager, extended condolences on behalf of the airline to Laville’s family and friends.
The Dash 8 captain was also a third-degree black belt instructor at Antigua Shotokan Karate Club.
His colleagues have expressed sadness over his passing.
The time has come for a debate ,for a name change. I believe there should have public discussion about changing the name of Dominica to whatever new name that the public chooses. Dominica is suffering from the other more popular one Northwest of us.I travel a lot and when ask ,I say Dominica and the next word coming from the strangers mouth is Republic and I have to explain ,and I am sure they don’t understand..Its confusing and I believe stopping the development of D/ca. So how about starting a contest to select the best name, like the old Indian name for the island Kubuli.Come on Mr Skerrit
I am in Africa (Kenya) working and most people I talk to never heard of our Dominica
We worked together for many years and I struggle to recall a day he wasn’t pleasant or had no time to spare. And so his gift may well have been to remind others of what it is to simply be happy. Rest, my friend.
Great student and colleague at SMA. Beloved by his mother and family. A gentleman throughout. Rest In Peace my friend!!!
RIP my dear Martin, we in Marigot will miss you dearly. Condolences to the entire family.
Sleep in perfect peace Captain and fellow SMARITAN. Gone way to soon but only the father knows the time and the hour. We have to accept you untimely passing as hard as it is right now but your memory will live on.

So sad. We rented from the same Landlord when were students in 1982. At that time he was studying air traffic control and I was a medical Laboratory technology student.
This came as a shock to me. Expressing my sympathies to his family including Julius Corbette his brother who was AID Bank manager
