A Dominican serving in the police force in St. Kitts who was shot in the line of duty has lost his leg, WINN FM is reporting.

Brian Pacquette was flown to Trinidad for medical treatment after the incident, which took place on June 23.

According to WINN FM, doctors in Trinidad were forced to amputate his leg.

Last week Wednesday, relatives of the injured officer appealed for blood donation.

Reports are that Pacquette was shot when he and another officer went to investigate a larceny report in an area called Greenlands in St. Kitts. They saw a person of interest and attempted to search him, however, he reportedly resisted arrest and a scuffle ensued.

During the scuffle, Pacquette was shot in the leg.

It is obviously difficult for him losing a leg and feeling pain and is suffering. He will have to go through a long rehabilitation process and therapy in also getting accustomed to and coping with this situation.
My prayers are with him that in time he fully recuperates.
May God bless him and grant him thorough healing and peace of mind.

  2. BEB, here is another one for you; Focus back on Inspector James, I do not remember his first name though he was a relative of mine, as his mother’s surname is Telemaque.

Around 1963/64, or there about while demonstrating and teaching subordinates how to use the new automatic weapons the police force had just received; one idiot discharged every single round of ammunition that was in the weapon into James, after the burial all went silent, to this day I never heard his mother, nor any of his relatives in Marigot getting a single dime from Dominica government.

The incident occurred right there near to J. Astaphan & Co; the shooter was never even disciplined though it was believed that the guy actually murdered James; they called it an unfortunate accident.

I don’t know if the Police Headquarters is still located there. Fallen, injured officers never get what is deserving!

He was shot on the job. For one, he may have insurance. I am confident that the police authorities will bear the responsibility of assisting him.

Pacquette, I don’t think that I know u but I wish u a speedy recovery and I do hope that the Govt. of St Kitts will see it fitting to compensate u with the deserving funds u require to see life through, or maybe u would decide to continue on the job and do desk work .
The job is a very tasking one, u did take the Oath to serve and protect and probably u were doing it to the best of ur ability but one does not know what the future holds. Now whether u decides to remain on island or return home, I wish u and ur family well.

    • BEB. my experience is this, when the issue is in its early stages, they come out and promise the fallen will always be looked after; however, within a year, the victims are forgotten.

My Friend Richard Nelson was shot by an American in St. Johns Antigua, while making an arrest; rather than Antigua government prosecute the culprit they released him to the government of the United States, who to this day we don’t know he was ever punished.

Meanwhile, the victim Richard Nelson was put in a house unequipped to accommodate one who was short while making an arrest, and became a quadriplegic. In the case of my brother, between Antigua government and a Grenada lawyer, working for Dominica born Justine Simon, Antigua AG at the time; we do not know where my brother benefits went.

None of his children residing here in New York got not one dime! That guy will be lucky to get more than a retirement pension!

Since I am a jackass, read back what you wrote in the quote, and then decide between you and I who is the worst of the two jackass. To respond to your crap in any other way would be dignifying and idiot shallow mind, you are nothing

  6. Officer Brian Pacquette:

My sympathy and condolences go out to you at this difficult time.

Also I am praying for you that God will give you relief from pain, physical strength, and guidance into your future. Know this: your life still has meaning and purpose. There will be a place for you to serve God, and the public. It will be a place of God’s own choosing. He has a work for you to do.

Leave your life in HIS hands.
    Rest secure in HIS plans!

The Bible says this about law enforcement officers: ”…they are God’s ministers…” (Romans 13:6) This will not change. You will always be God’s servant where ever He posts you.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Usually, in such a case, the word “empathy” is used, meaning, “I empathize with you” or “I have empathy for you.” It could have been an oversight.

Mister preaching so much hatred against the head of state. Anywhere else he would be watched closely. I feeling sorry for mister.

      • Let me tell you something if DNO ban me from their site, I will not loose anything!

You know why? All I would simply do is reactivate my website http://www.yvonnedods.com and if I do not wish to reactivate that one, I can build a new one any day of the week and get it on the Internet.

Jealousy has no effect on me, I am not going to make myself a prisoner to the comments you nothing nobody, rats say about me! I can afford to remain on DNO as long as I wish, with my time, you know why? I am rich, independent, and beg no man for a job, nor a handout, so eat your harts out, you all cannot do anything about me except wish I evaporate!

But be very careful what you wish because it has a way of coming beck to haunt you! Read my comments if you wish, who do not wish to read what write just go past it, I do not care. Dunce and nothing people has no use for anything educational, ban me an intellectual, but allow most of you who has never sat in a secondary school the privilege to write…

He does it because he gets away with it, insulting others by calling them idiot, stupid and other derogatory names. I view this as abusive, demeaning and disrespectful.
He thinks he is more intelligent than others; the only intelligent person who comments on DNO.
No matter what the comments, he finds something in them to criticize and debase the writers. If I knew him I would not be able to tolerate him for he is annoying and disagreeable. He never has anything good to say about anyone. His writings depict what type of person he is; not nice, haughty and a show-off. I do think he is also pretentious.
The best to do, as much it could be difficult, is not to respond to his comments.

I am unable to comprehend how he could spew such venom against the PM of D/ca. It is beyond me how someone could harbor such hatred, considering he does not reside in D/ca and may never return there.
For whatever reason, even though one does not support the government, he/she should refrain from this type of name-calling. There are ways of communicating feelings which do not have to be words of hatred. He does not utilize diplomacy and lacks broad-mindedness. He probably does not have what it takes.
I reside overseas and if I dared make derogatory statements against the PM, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police – RCMP would be at my door. I would be arrested, charged and also imprisoned. I have sense and respect never to do that.
This man resides in the US. He should know he dare not make such statements against the US President for what could happen to him.
I really do not know why he carries-on as he does on DNO. Maybe he is trying to impress us. Not me!

It appears he is receiving excellent medical care in T & T and will survive. Sad he lost a leg. Pain and suffering is no easy matter to bear. As he recuperates, I wish him well.
Thank you T & T medical profession for taking good care of him.
Thank you Lord for assisting him and to eventual heal him through the hands of the medical profession.
I hope the criminal was caught. If so, hope he will not be bailed. Criminals know they are wrong. Instead of surrendering, they will try to escape and to attack the policemen. It is a severe crime to attack a police officer. Criminals who attack, injure or murder them will receive a severe sentence. Life sentence without parole should be their lot.

So sad you lost your leg but thank god you are alive. Its hard to digest god will give you the strength and couragment.

  18. I sympathize with you; you are fortunate to be alive, by late brother Almoore Inspector in the Antigua police force was not that fortunate; he was gun down, he took a bullet through his heart, and died instantly. Shortly after him another Dominican officer was also shot dead in Antigua.

I know that this is not the time to say this, but if Dominica government had the knowledge, of how to go about developing Dominica creating work for our people, perhaps my brother would be yet alive, the other Dominica officer also shot in Antigua might be yet alive.

You would not have to suffer amputation of your leg. I would not be living in America wreaking havoc on Skerrit, because we all might have found work at home preventing us to becoming aliens to our own country!

That man is a real donkey
      I must conclude
He blame PM for every thing ,so all Dominica ‘s living and working abroad and has an accident the prime minister should be blame
Mr Dodds you are a real fool
You need to shut up if you have nothing to say

      • Shut up you idiot, I can blame Skerrit for anything I wish; I can blame him when it rains, when the wind blows, when you that idiot empty belly groans for food.

I can blame him when I see you walking down with your plastic shoe on your feet, or your cheap rubber push-in on your miserable feet!

I can blame him when you are behind kissing his Butt for a hand out. Mind your business, you damn fool, who are you, am a fool with an identity, If I return to Dominica any day of the week, friends and foes, even Skerrit will identify me; who knows you, you little wet rodent, you rat!

What is the point of calling me a fool when you cannot do anything I say about Skerrit, not even Skerrit can do anything to me based on any comment I make about him, that Mountain Chicken Carpaud (Crapo) Mentality Sly Eye Indian doctor of nothing!

Since you feel all of Skerrit pain when I blame let this be another thorn in you flesh! And don’t call me no Mr. Dods, I do not wish any honor from you…

      • I do not wish, or want any honor from you. Insult me if you so wish, call me any nasty name in the book I don’t care, but hope when I retaliate you can take it, you stupid rat!

All your kissing up to Skerrit is in the hope he will give you a free lunch, or a bit of red cloth, so you can wrap around like a John-bull masquerading on carnival day. I do want anything from Roosevelt Skerrit that is why I am man, and bold enough to say anything about him, and if he does not like it believe you me, he knows how to get in touch with me, I don’t know if he ever heard your name: I am sure he knows mine!

He needs to fervently pray to God for his blessing and graces so that he could (also) learn how to communicate amicably and to get along with others on this Website.
His ignorance is projecting itself. As it is stated, “Ignorance is something else.”
He had stated he would no longer comment on this Website. Too bad he broke his promise.

Are you for real????? Hating and hating. Sir get your priorities right … Misery like company. Get real and be positive … “All might have found work at home preventing us to becoming aliens to our own country!” . Ah Magway sa, Francisco you are an alien to your own self. Emancipate yourself from Mental Slavery. None but we ourselves can free our minds. Love Jehovah … Repent of all those damaging thoughts…. Love others and it is not about you. It is about others too. Stop the blame game.

Sorry I had to take it at Francisco. Brian my prayers are with you. It could have been worse. Thank Jehovah that you are alive. May God bless you and family and there is hope .. Jehovah will take care of you and family. Give thanks for life. Hope to see you soon. Love to you and…

      • If you were not a fool, you would realize that 99.9% of all of us who left Dominica did so because of economics; who wants to remain in a place where you are born live a full life, died and never held a paying job?

I left because I wonted a better life; that better life I found, and have: and most all the people I know who left are enjoying a good life too.

You see how you people with no name are ignorant, and like to twist people’s words. Show me one paragraph in what I wrote where I blamed Skerrit for anybody’s death; be it my brother, or the other Dominican guy, or blame him for this recent incident!

You all lie so much, that to make yourself feel important you must distort what I said: read what I wrote again and select the part where you claim I blame Skerrit for anybody death. You all live a sad crying life, I am not prepared to be like any one of you, so whether you all like what I say or not I don’t care I am not looking for friends…

From which “striving” I guess you meant thriving economy did he take us to bring us to today? I guess you people really did not believe all the reports and the information given by the IMF and other international organisations about the state of the economy in 1999/2000 which forced the stabilisation programme upon us?

Let me remind you that Social Security contributions were not being paid; no merchants were accepting gov’t LPO’s; all utility companies were owed millions of dollars; the grwoth sectors were not performing; banana farmers were leaving the farms, etc. etc., so which “striving” thriving economy are you talking about? Sure you are free to criticise this government’s efforts but stop perpetuating these fallacies about thriving economies which existed in 1999. It is simply not true, okay?

i understand your line of reasoning Francisco Etienne but migration to look for jobs overseases started way back in the1950’s No matter what a country does there would always be migration .I agree with you that more can be done to create more jobs. Our government here in St.Vincent and the Grenadines train as much as 100 nurses annually the intention being for those who may not get employment immediately can do so overseases cause vincy nurses are in great demand..I see your point but there will always be migration on a relatively large scale

Even though people would be able to find jobs on island, there are the people who usually would go for greener pastures, so there will be always the influx of people going out and people coming in, seeking employment.
You are right about that police officer from Wesley who served in the The Antigua Police Dept. he was Almoore Robin, my cousin, my uncle Hilborne’s son. the one from Marigot who got shot, he used to be bringing me my meals ,while I was working at the Marigot Police Station, before he living to join the police Force in Antigua.
