On Thursday evening The Queen presented awards to the 2016 Queen’s Young Leaders from Dominica in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

In the year of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday, The Queen’s Young Leaders, including Dominica winner Tina Alfred have all been taking part in a series of high-level engagements across London and in Cambridge over the course of the past week.

His Royal Highness Prince Harry attended the event in support of The Queen, which recognised exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth who are making lasting change in their communities.

Former Prime Minister and Chairman of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, Sir John Major, David Beckham and Sir Lenny Henry were also in attendance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prince Harry said: “The Queen’s Young Leaders award recognises what you have achieved, not for yourselves, but for your communities, for your peers, and for those less fortunate. You have already been an inspiration to so many; but I hope this award will inspire you to go out and achieve even greater things in the future, empowered by the network of leaders you now sit amongst.”

David Beckham said: “I am thrilled to be here once again to help Her Majesty The Queen in congratulating a new group of inspiring young leaders. I know those who won last year are continuing to build on the opportunities the award has provided them. I look forward to following the progress of the class of 2016 and have no doubt we will be seeing a lot this year’s exceptional group of young people as they continue to make lasting change in their communities.”

In what is a royal first, Buckingham Palace opened its doors to vlogger Alfie Deyes, who was given special access to document the occasion via his social media channels. Speaking about his involvement in The Queen’s Young Leaders ceremony, Alfie said: “To be the first vlogger to be given access to Buckingham Palace has been a massive privilege. It was amazing to meet all of the Queen’s Young Leaders and to hear about all of the incredible work they are doing around the world.”

This has included participating in a challenge set by global social networking company Twitter, meeting Senior Executives at BBC World News and visiting 10 Downing Street. As part of the programme they also received leadership training at the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education, met UK business leaders from Standard Chartered, AMV BBDO and PWC and heard from leaders from UK charities working to deliver life-changing projects.

This year’s Queen’s Young Leaders programme will conclude on Friday with a visit to Marlborough House to meet the Commonwealth Secretary-General and High Commissioners, followed by an exclusive event at The Shard.

Tina looks beautiful and elegant in her outfit which is quite appropriate for the occasion. Note her beautiful and happy smile.
Tina, no doubt some of us envy you. In our youthful days we did not have such an opportunity. You are fortunate. Of course you deserve it. :)
Hope on your return you will inform us of your wonderful and exciting experience. It is certainly a lasting one.
We thank Queen Elizabeth II, this gracious lady for recognizing and giving young leaders as Tina an award.for their achievement.
The Queen’s sons are also to be commended. They are outgoing as their late dear mother, Princess Diana (RIP) and no doubt were instrumental in this honorable award of young leaders of the Commonwealth. God also bless you.
God save our gracious Queen! Long live our noble Queen! God save the Queen!
May God continue to bless and grace her with many more healthy years to come.
I love royalty. I respect them and their status.

  7. I expect Dominica is very proud of their many young people who have gone on to receive a higher education, and those who have gained Royal recognition.

They receive these awards not for themselves alone but for their parents, sibblings, peers, communities, and nation. They are what Dominica is becoming.

    I congratulate Tina Alfred :!:

She looks lovely from head to foot! That is one beautiful outfit. The colors are so Dominican.

God bless you Tina. I pray HE will guide your young life.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

        Should I read them?

        Some were positive and uplifting.

But others were so weighted down with negativity they sunk out of sight. Why would anybody want to say something unkind? Couldn’t you find it in you to say something that would make the young lady happy on this special day she so richly deserves instead of firing off a dart to wound her spirit?

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I agree , the WOB Dwiyet was not properly worn from head to toe and I found it disappointing, where was the award she received from the Queen instead we see her showing off 2 bags, I know she is young with a beautiful smile but she should know how the WOB Dwiyet must be worn.
Any way I congratulate her for showing off Dominica to the world.

How old are you? How did those days affect you?
Some people continue to live behind time. What is past is past. Put all bitterness of this history behind.
Thank God times have changed and appreciate the present. Enjoy it as many are doing.
We are moving on; not backwards.
