When Sabina Williams learnt that an explicit picture of herself and her female lover was being circulated online she shrugged it off since she thought this was the best way to handle the situation.
But she became bothered when people, who she claimed never paid much attention to her prior to the incident, suddenly began sending her messages.
“Quite a few of you already know me but you may not know my story, and that is what I want to start off with, you can see someone in the street but you really do not know what they have been through,” she told a youth symposium on Tuesday afternoon.
She stated that her attitude towards her photo being online is “it’s out there already, I don’t really care”.
The former senator admits she is bi-sexual. “I don’t care what is your opinion about it,” she stated. “It is my life and I am living it.”
Williams explained that she is the daughter of a pastor and while growing up she never felt pressured by her father.
However, that was not the case with members of the church since she was expected to be “a good Christian girl.”
She added that she got married at the age of 20, since she had to find a way of suppressing her attraction to women, but three years later she was forced out of the relationship because of abuse.
She then moved to Barbados where she moved on with her life.
Williams urged young people to look out for each other.
“It is young people who are forwarding these videos to other young people,” she stated. “Every time you are going to do something, always think who am I hurting when I am doing this. You always have to be mindful of what you are going to do. Remember a spoken word cannot come back, a picture cannot come back because it is out there already.”
Meanwhile Jaihsiah Benoit, President of the National Youth Council, called on the youth to stand with the council to stamp out stigma and discrimination.

The Bible – the Word of God – clearly tells us homosexuality is a sin and warns us of the consequences.
When some people say they “don’t care” what they actually mean is they don’t care what God Almighty says. First they know their behavior is sinful but they do it anyway. When they are told it is sinful they refuse correction. Finally, they cross the line. Their conscience stops troubling them. God’s Holy Spirit never convicts them again.
Other people are only putting on an indifferent front when they say they don’t care. Underneath the hard exterior beats a very troubled heart. God stands ready to forgive, heal, and deliver them, if they will only call upon Him, believing that Christ on the cross paid the penalty for their sins, and rose again.
But there are those who are telling the truth. They have crossed that line by them unseen, the boundry line between God’ mercy and His wrath. Their mind has been darkened and their heart is hardened. God’s Spirit has left them and will deal with them no more. In Noah’s day, before the flood, God said “…My Spirit shall not always strive with man,…” (Genesis 6:3)
In the first century A.D. St. Paul, the great apostle, said there were some who enjoyed their sins so much they rejected the moral laws of God, “Who being past feeling have GIVEN THEMSELVES OVER, to work uncleaness…” (Ephesiasns 4:19)
He further described these people by saying “…even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO A REPROBATE MIND…” (Romans 1:28)
If you still have those moments when you feel God tugging on your heart’s strings to draw you to Himself I plead with you to surrender your life to Him while the door of His grace stands ajar.

I remember when Zarmee and buggery was taboo. you could count on 1 hand the amount of people doing those things and they were known. What has happened to Dominica is a stage of culture shock! We didn’t have porn or more than 1 TV channel (13) growing up. The amount of influence the media and access to cell phones and the impact of American culture has had on Dominicans in such a short period of time is astounding. Dominicans are trying to live the American dream while living in Dominica. Everybody has urges, likes and dislikes just because a thought comes into your mind does not mean that you have to acknowledge it or act on it or that it owns or defines you. Dominicans need to look close at themselves and their behavior and understand where its coming from and how they would like to be perceived by others because yes it does matter… we are a community of people.
First of all, I am not asking anyone to like me or support my lifestyle. I have never asked anyone to be gay or tried to force a preference on anyone.
Secondly, this was supposed to be a closed forum. At the last minute I was informed that the press was there and I said ok, no worries. My problem with that is some of the ppl being negative here should have been at the forum to really understand what took place. Dont you expect the media to sensationalize the matter? I too had hope that others would have stepped forward and share their story. It would have given a better balance so that everyone could see how this affected the ppl involved regardless or their sexual orientation. If you know of anyone ask them to come forward and help another youth. But then again alot of ppl are afraid to be exposed to such negativity. When we criticise try to do so constructively. You may not like what a person is doing but coming at them will most likely force them into a shell and make that behaviour even worse.
When I said I don’t care I am speaking in reference to ME and ME only. I am strong. I have been through alot so hardly anything bothers me. But that is not the case for everyone. To those of you who have suddenly became an expert on my life I have read and taken in everything that you say. I believe that a person should only stop growing and changing when they die. And I actually feed off criticism more than support because it make me realise my weaknesses and what i need to do better. when i gave insight into my background it was not meant to be an excuse but rather so that ppl understand my demeanor and attitude.

Don’t give them the satification. Learn from your mistakes and move on. No one is perfect. My problem with this whole issue is that this symposium was set up to talk about the distribution of porn material which is affecting the youth. Both Sabina and Linden were victims of their pictures being circulated so they came to speak of what that has done to them. Or well that was the plan. Sabina and Linden in turn took this opportunity to push forward their cause for gay rights. No one asked them to come and talk about how they became gay. they were supposed to talk about what the distribution of the porn pics did to them. Sabina said she didn’t care so that means it did nothing to her so she didn’t have to come and talk cause she was not affected by the distribution of the pics. They simply brought the wrong message to the symposium and was fighting to champion their gay cause. that was very wrong on their part.
What was the purpose of the symposium? Seems to me that homosexuality is being promoted. There are other ways to address discrimination. In your presentation you stated that” you do not care that the pics are being circulated then you are asking ppl to think about others. What is really your message to the youth? I think you should have advised the youth to be midful of their actions; dont blame anyone for your actions only you can control them. You are asking people to think about the consequencies of sending out the photos and videos. I think that when making the porn videos people should be mindful of the consequencis rather than asking the people spreading to think about it for you! As we grow in the Lord we become stronger and our failings become less often.
Christians know they have a responsibility to share their knowledge of the Word of God with others. This is especially true if we see somebody
obviously living a sinful life or somebody admites they are living contary to the commandments of God. (Mark 16:15,16) (2 Corinthians 5:20)
If we do it in a spirit of self righteousness with an attitude that implies “I am holier than you” – better that we keeep our mouths shut! We should do it because we care about the individual and want him or her to reach heaven.

The Lord said he judges by what he sees. You are not judging her per se. If we denounce this type of lifestyle, we are not judging. We are judging by what we see and hear. We are standing up for the truth. We are informing them that it is not a normal lifestyle and what God wants for them and for the world in general.

Sabina, the only reason I am responding to this news article is because I feel that it is my responsibility to alert young people like you, who have made the claims above in that quote which says: “It is my life and I am living it”
The majority of us human beings will make that same mistake–there was a time I was included– claiming to be living a Life that we don’t have at all–notice that I write it with a capital “L” the same as that I write “Almighty God”–His Person is “Jesus Christ”.
Jesus said to us through the man Nicodemus: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again John 3: 5-7
Because of the fall of our first parents Adam and Eve, we entered this world in a “perishing” nature of flesh and bones with a mind shape which can only process the things of death, and soul within us which is in its death condition.
Salvation in Jesus Christ, who is the Person of Love in God Almighty, who is Eternal Spirit (the Father)is the path of Life which He has paved for us who are His chosen people–God wants us back as His people reconciled to His Love and Holiness.
And so a human being simply exist in this world, through sole control of his and her human senses with a carnal mind which processes the seeds of the flesh which are sown on its grown–those fruits are fruits of vanity and death–for the flesh profits nothing!
A Person who has Life in the Spirit, living with a mind that is in its renewal process by the control of Holy Spirit from conscience, and a soul that is awakened within, he or she has died to the flesh and its shameful, evil, wicked, abomination, and sinful demands; that is the person who is living Life; he or she can boldly make that claim with great assurance.
For that person is living with intimate knowledge of the God of Life and by the teachings and guidance of Holy Spirit, he or she is doing the things which are the good, the accepted. and the perfect Will, which gives God the glory–that has to be man’s “all in all” as he exist in this world.
That person would be walking in Spirit, putting on display the attitude and conducts of Love–just as Jesus is teaching him and her to do so by the Power of Holy Spirit who has indwelt him or her through conscience

Long term relationships do exist but they are rare. There is an inner void that leaves them willing to experiment with anything sexual. So we find many sick variations in the “gay” world. In the largest North American cities there are clubs that cater to every branch of homosexuality imaginable, each with it own particular fetish or practice.
So yes! Homosexuality does indeed open doors! And each opening leads further into the darkness.

I admire this young lady for standing up for herself; the fact is that unless you walk in someone else shoes, you really cannot understand what they see – judge not, lest you be judged. Having said that, there’s one thing she’s quoted as saying that I have an issue with – “I don’t care what is your opinion about it” – she ought to care. Even though she’s right to say that, in reality, society can be cruel, and there are many out there who will judge, and that in turn can lead to effects on her life that she may not even be aware of – employment prospects, business prospects, dealings with banks. People are judgmental and she may end up having to deal with someone in a position to help her who may have taken offense in what she did and her language. so, to mitigate these situations, I’d advise her to exercise a bit of humility; first condemn those responsible for leaking her private information and then apologize to the general public for having to endure seeing it. People will agree and sympathize with her because of the invasion of privacy issue and look upon the perpetrators with scorn, and the apology will project humility and respect to the public at large. The door is already open; manage the story as best as you can to your advantage, don’t respond with bellicose statements and appear contemptuous of the senses of the public at large.

I’m really happy for you. I’m living abroad and seeing that you’re standing up for yourself. I’m a LGBTQ supporter because I believe every human should have rights. Dominicans need to be bigger than this. Focus on what makes your country generate a larger income base, than something so small like sexuality. Even the pope realizes that sexuality isn’t something that should be the main focus. This would never make news in the US because there’s already so much of this already. *Yawn* who cares. However, you must take responsibility for yuor actions. If you took the picture and were aware that the picture is being taken – you are so to aware of the implications which may arise.
I do not condone the ridiculing and the negativity as a result.
I have seen the picture. i chose to see it. I did not forward it…but I am not at fualt for watching it because it was sent to me. IF it didn’t exist, it wouldt be sent to me.
I am glad that you are strong enough to handle the situation and shrug it off.
What i’d suggest is that you offer advise to those choosing to make videos etc, to be wary and cautious becuase in this day and age – these things can easily go viral.
We are our brother’s keeper but so to are we MORE responsible for our well being and actions, esp as adults
