Liverpool served as sixth President of Dominica

Former President of Dominica, Dr. Nicholas Liverpool, has been hospitalized in Martinique, according to French media reports.

The reports indicated the former President was evacuated from Dominica to an emergency hospital in Fort de France.

It is reported that he is now a patient at the Chu Meynard Hospital.

There are no indications of what Liverpool, 81, is actually suffering from and there are no reports from the authorities in Dominica on the matter.

Liverpool served as President of Dominica between 2003 and 2012.

He has a long career in law across the region and was a senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies.

In 2003 he received the Dominica Award of Honour.

DNO will publish updates on this matter when they become available.

Hello and good afternoon my people. First I must wish Mr Liverpool well and I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I don’t know much about Mr Liverpool or what he did or didn’t do for Grand Bay which is the village my father is from but if he’s hospitalized you must separate the issues. He is a human and we all can get sick so please learn to separate politics and health.

It is very shameful that Dominicans have to depend on Martinique to provide them medical treatment for any thing more than a ‘chololo’. It is high time to have the donkey in front of the ‘cabouway’ instead of the other way around_after all, most of the powerful among us seems to have all manner of luxuries yet only give lip service to what is most needed; shall we be reminded that one has nothing if he/she does not have health. I get the sense from some folks in the diaspora, that they don’t care to return home to settle sighting lack of medical care, should there ever be imminent need for such. There is no pride in being a department of Martinique which in turn is a department of France.

May our Good Lord be with you Mr. President. To all the critics, you all will never stop being so “foolish” about illness. Remember our dear Prime Minister does all within his power to take care of all Dominicans medically. Our Hospital coming soon. Thanks to the PRC.

He was at the hospital in Dominica for the past 2 weeks or so. I saw him myself on he Alford ward. His condition has worsened which is why he had to be flown to Martinique. We Dominicans need to stop being so biased. Best of luck to you Mr. Liverpool.

The Former President of Dominica, Dr. Nicholas Liverpool should be in Roseau Hospital, like all poor Dominicans, gettings the same treatment, having to bring his own sheets and pillows. Otherwise they will never understand how bad the situation “Hospital in Dominica” is, because the rich can always run away from the problem.

DOM In TOR.. & DA GIRLY if you don’t have something substantial to contribute keep your stupid remarks to yourself.
Why would he be admitted at PMH when the hospital is not equipped to treat his condition? Not everyone is fortunate to overcome their ailment regardless where they obtain medical care.
However, given the opportunity, everyone has the right to seek care elsewhere of their choosing. So stop the Ignorance and bring something worthwhile to the discussion.
When DNO offered This Forum to the Public, it was not intended for these’ off the wall’ comments.
It’s just showing Dominica in a bad light. Come on Dominica we are better than that.

“Former President of Dominica, Dr. Nicholas Liverpool, has been hospitalized in Martinique, according to French media reports.” Even that the authorities here tight lip about? We have to depend on what is reported by foreign authorities to know what is happening in Dominica? That’s pretty disturbing. “There are no indications of what Liverpool, 81, is actually suffering from and there are no reports from the authorities in Dominica on the matter.”

Pastor Bull, please pray for us in Dominica. We need prayers and we cannot turn to the church, the bishop, priests, pastors, or Evangelist for prayer. Please pray for us Pastor Bull!

According to the French language news site DOM acu.dom
no information regarding his state of health has been released in accordance with the wishes of his family. We should observe these wishes.

I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. Hope it is not life threatening. It is good to know that people like him can be evacuated from Dominica to an emergency hospital in Fort de France. That’s another reason why Skerrit and his team prefer to close hospitals instead of build modern hospitals. When they are sick they can be evacuated but when is one of us we have to make sure we plan our funeral.

So poor people are utilizing the local hospital in dominica while the bigshots are being flown overseas????

    • LawieBawie
      February 24, 2015

It happens everywhere my friend, so don’t make it seem like Dominica is the worst. In the U.S. the rich get flown to specialist hospitals and doctors while the poor have to make do with general practitioners at whatever shabby hospitals exist in their neighbourhoods.

      February 24, 2015

I wont consider my self poor but I’m no where close to rich and I have been admitted to a hospital in Martinique after being admitted at the hospital here on many occasions i was referred to a specialist who is in martinique.. you have no idea why certain people are flown or what so ever to the French territories.. if a family member of yours falls ill and the doctors here tells them their best chance is to be flown/ transferred to an overseas hospital to be treated by a specialist… will you say no???

    • Gosh
      February 24, 2015

That is a stupid comment. How do you expect poor people to go overseas when they have no money..and the rich stay when they have money…gosh. Your sarcasm is lost. All you acting is like some unrealistic thing that is happening.

      February 24, 2015

I see they giving thumbs down for saying that. The truth is a stranger to our people. No wonder they will always be fooled and lied to. The bigshots get flown out and our families are left to die at PMH. Thumbs I say!!!!
